The problem also comes in how most people define workrate. I think the vast majority take it to mean the amount of moves you perform and the amount of effort you put into the match, but that doesn't really explain how wrestlers like Jeff Jerrett and Christian are perceived as great workers despite working safe styles that don't tax their bodies. To me, it all falls down to how well you can sell the effects of a match, rather than how much damage you can take. I love Mitsuharu Misawa and Bret Hart, but if you put a gun to my head and ask me who I thought the better worker was, I'd say Bret in an instant. Both can put on clinics, but one was skilled at making it look like an actual fight without taking unnecessary damage in the process.
