it seems like there's a niche for small promotions that primarily work a particular area and do a low budget thing like Championship Wrestling (from Hollywood) or MLW

Yeah, OVW is still kicking around after being castoff as WWE's old developmental promotion. Al Snow and his investor buddy/radio host Matt Smith keeping the show running. They've even been able to do a little touring in some counties in Kentucky.

Check the /asp/ archive. Stacy Cornette left a lot of receipts from their sexual misadventures. I recall in particular her texting pics of her nasty, cellulite riddled baboon ass at some wrestler and asking him if he remembered eating it out for a push.

I would shoot myself if I woke up one morning and remembered I ate out Stacy Cornette's ass, let alone doing it for the sake of pretend fighting.

Jim going on about Sable being unattractive when his wife looks like that is just another example of him being cracked in the head.

Randy Orton, John Cena, Batista, Brock Lesnar all had to fuck Stacy Cornette in a hot tub while Jim Cornette looked on, masturbated, noisily sipped his Sprite, and bitched at them to lay it in stiffer.

OVW has become insufferable since that Netflix show aired. Al Snow got his head up his own ass and thinks he is some kind of auteur now. The quality of shows has had a noticable downturn as there are this constant interjection of pre-filmed promos talking about wrestling instead of, you know, just wrestling. Even when they do wrestle some members of the roster now treat each show as if it was an audition for the WWE instead of a performance meant for the crowd on hand and those who will watch the VOD.

On the one hand I am really glad my guy, Ca$hflo, and the cutest piece of trailer trash since my first girlfriend, Hollyhood Hailey J, are getting some eyes on them; hell Hailey J even got a tryout with WWE because of the show but failed a wellness check for weed. That said a lot of the shitters, especially Al along with his sobbing bitch boy radio money mark, got their heads way too full of themselves and it is effecting the quality of the show. There is way too much self awareness in each new episode and it is negatively effecting the product. A lot of the guys on the OVW roster are never was guys and it is pretty apparent from the way they are acting. Some guys are acting like they think the only reason they ended up as nobodies is because they never got enough exposure instead of the reality being that they have no charisma and can't hack it with ring work.

Also OVW has been intermittently touring Kentucky for the few years. Basically whenever they can find a money mark willing to sponsor a show.

Seriously though, Ca$hflo is a good dude. He is tall, can work, and can handle himself on the mic. He is the quintessential example of the guy that got a clue way too late in life and couldn't turn it into an opportunity. In a better world he would have had someone mentor him when he was young and had been able to escape shindie hell. As it is I hope Tony books him as a jobber more often because those money mark paycheques he gets jobbing on AEW mean way more to him then adding another zero to Moxley's paycheque when he resigns.

Oh and Shera. Shera can work and for a streetshitter is actually pretty good on the mic. He has a certain sincerity with everything he does that translates really well to a small promotion. I don't think he could hack it in the WWE because Khali pretty much poisoned the well by being an absolute shitter and I honestly don't know how well Shera's sincerity would translate to a big budget program. That said his bump card is being close to being filled and it would be nice if he got at least one shot in the big leagues. He was great in Ring Ka King and is doing his best in OVW, but the guy is reaching the age where most people would either make it or consign themselves to being journeymen on smaller promotions. He is far more eloquent than most wrestlers from India and way better than the ones WWE has signed in the past. If someone is going to give him a shot, then now is the time.

In other news, Lance Archer has made his Tri-Monthy Jobber squash appearance.
“He’s not over with the crowd so why would he get pushed.”
Gee I wonder why a dude who doesn’t get booked doesn’t ever get over with the crowd despite him being cheered for loudly every time he appears.
I popped for the fact the announcer introduced Archer as (paraphrased) "coming in already beating the shit out of that fucking jobber". That's quality entertainment AEW needs more of.
It's crazy that Ospreay got accused of something during that and the only real punishment he's faced is a cosmic one of losing Blair Davenport/Bea Priestley and then marrying some broad with a half black mutant from some other dude.
To be honest, going from hitting Bea Prestley from the back to raising some other dude's kid is punishment enough, no amount of being told I'm the bloody best fake fighter in the multiverse will dig me out of that depression.

I have a feeling Orton might have been enough of a degenerate in his younger years to not give a shit, but it would explain some of both Cena and Batista's post-WWE... eccentricities.

All I have to say is I feel so bad for kids now who grow up with the dreadful state of wrestling now, post-gentrification and redditization. So many new fans are these former Bernie voter hipster doofuses pushing 40 years old that considered it hick shit until the mid-2010s, and then talked about how disgusting the attitude era was, and say shit like "Wrestling is for everybody". You can tell your media is being gentrified if "(Insert media property here) is for everyone" is a phrase you start seeing. They used it for Star Wars, video games, etc. I don't think anything's been safe from that.

The only silver lining is that it seems a lot of people finally realize Cornette is an annoying carny blowhard.

Most of those people only watch AEW, so if you can’t handle seeing the slobbery of them, stick to WWE where the normal people are.

Literally, all I ask for is a good solid 4-6 month run with one of the midcard titles…Is that too much to ask for?

Compared to a lot of other promoters and such, unfortunately yes actually.
I like that story of the early WWF days when other promoters got together to discuss what to do about VKM, and the idea of just hiring somebody to kill him comes up. Ultimately they're too cheap to pitch in the large sum of five thousand bucks and the WWF goes on to destroy the territories because skinflints at the pay window.

The only really interesting bit from the new Observer is about sports rights deals and how the market for them is drying up, as seen by Smackdown not getting the massive bump they were hoping for and NASCAR getting fucked by their new deal. Uncle Dave theorizes that if WBD makes a push to keep NBA at a big increase then AEW could be in trouble. I think WWE needs to just get ahead of the curve and put all their shows streaming live on the Network/Peacock since they have the option, even if they lose money in the short term on it. Cable is dying quicker and quicker, and these companies need to get ahead of it before the whole things falls apart on them.

Maybe it’s because she’s gone and I have the chance to miss her, but early Stephanie was a great fucking heel, it’s like she leveled up by a 100 after turning on Vince. That squeaky voice, her spoiled bitch demeanor, you just wanted the worst for her. And Jesus did she let people absolutely massacre her on the mic, what a trooper.

It got a little eye rolling later when she’d rarely get her comeuppance, but even then she’d give the mania crowds something to cheer for when she took her yearly big bump, and she worked her ass off with the Rhonda feud. I hope she’s having fun being retired.

I guess the “Man, they were actually good.” reassessment happens to everyone eventually, look at how people can find nice things to say about JBL’s title reign now when it was hated for so long.
