I'm really ashamed of gaming journalists right now. For some reason selling out for sex just seems even more pathetic than doing it for exclusive previews or even money. They're all bad but now you're telling the world you're willing to risk your job and reputation just so you can get a girl to put out. If these guys took 10k to do these things then they could just spout out something like "The industry doesn't value it's workers blah underpaid blah long hours blah" and a few morons would have bought it because it's an actual issue.
I feel bad for WizardChan even though some of them may be trying to throw blame our way. They were targets because Zoe knew it'd be easier to sell them as the type of people who would harass her due to their unpopular views on women.

Kotaku suffers a double-punch, once for losing even more credibility than Game Journalism's lost in general in the last few years, and somehow, impossibly, making the entire situation worse than it's ever been. Most of us didn't even realize this was possible before this afternoon. This is like Tupacalypse-level fail. It's 100 proof, and thus illegal in some states.
Quinn suffers in that she herself has no credibility thanks to this, has come across as an inveterate liar and a shithead, one willing to cause gigantic firestorms across multiple communities and outright lie if it suits her. Any cause she's been attached to (and there's some legitimate ones under the stupid) automatically suffers just due to her being associated with them at some point.
Wizardchan suffers because even though the overpowering majority of them had absolutely nothing to do with this, they're getting blamed because of the actions of a few retards - which again, is analogous to what happened with /pol/ provoking the infamous tumblr raid. The majority of the Wizards wanted none of this shit (something patently obvious from even a cursory look at their site), and were perfectly content to be left alone before this nonsense occurred. Now, they get scrutinized and hateboxed like they masterminded the whole thing, when any objective analysis shows that they very likely got used.
The CWCki suffers because, like Wizardchan, had some irate cock-hydrant decide to scapegoat it, and drag all of it, likewise, through the mud as some sort of mastermind, when, again, it's highly evident to even casual onlookers that this is a load of shit.
So what we have here, to repeat what I said earlier, is a very obvious case of Kotaku being exposed for an act of fuckery (quite literally), Zoe Quinn being further proved a serial asshole who has single-handedly undermined everything she has ever been associated with, Wizardchan being listed as some kind of trolling superpower when it would prefer to be left in its own little corner of the internet to play trucks, and the CWCki, as ever, is left to pick up the pieces. What we know for sure is that Quinn's the one who started this, and that someone targetted both the Wizards and CWCki clearly in an effort to play them off one another.

Reddit's started really cracking down on censoring any discussion on it, going so far as to delete any subreddits created to discuss it.

I stopped visiting Kotaku quite awhile ago. Many of my friends did too. It's not that we disagreed with their points about gaming culture it's just that we were there to read about the fucking games themselves. It was getting to the point where I was missing out on game announcements or stuff I cared about as a gamer because of all these articles about race/gender/religion in gaming. There was a shooting and someone mentioned gaming? Not only is it an article but there will be follow-up articles. Some small group is upset about an area in a game? Article. A writer just wants to talk about being a girl gamer from their perspective? Article. Someone walked by a copy of Super Smash Brothers while wearing a short skirt? Article.

So, if I understood correctly, Zoe Quinn and the people she slept with have lost a lot of credibility in gaming industry/journalism. I also feel genuinely sorry for her boyfriend, because what she did to him was fucked up - although he was really whiny about Zoe "keeping him from sleeping with anyone else" while they were on a break. Right, a whole day later I still haven't figured much out.
Aside of the fact that we can stop forever debating whether or not videogames qualify as art. No art movement is legitimate without a shitstorm of this magnitude. (Though I hear some modern art movements one-up this by engaging in literal shitstorms, but let's not talk about those.)

That's what bugs me because.. have they? This thing is getting shoved so far down that if it doesn't bust wide open it could only damage Zoe's career. Zoe is a bad person but the fucked up thing is that people who were in positions where they should have told her to GTFO actually slept with her and helped her. This shows how broken things are when one crazy person can get so far with such a fucked up approach. Professionalism, maturity, and basic human decency is what was supposed to prevent this kind of thing but in at least 5 cases it worked without a hitch.

Man, I'm getting really tired of these girls like, Zoey and Anita, that managed to get into the video game scene and just use it to create tons of drama and attention whoring. Anita was a disssapointment, and Zoey...

The cheating doesn't bother me as much (If she was a shitty liar to her boyfriend, that's on her), as the sleeping around to get publicity and reviews.
For somebody that presents herself as a person trying to fight for "women in gaming" she sure as hell didn't mind doing some of the stereotypical shit that women get accused of by places like Wizardchan. You know, women live in easy-mode. Why work hard when you can just sleep around with your boss to get what you want?
Also, if what that guy on reddit said about her damaging a contest for charity, because she labelled it "oppressive" is true, then she's even shittier than I though. Some guys get together and try to do something nice, but she just labels them as "male opressors" that are exploiting women....because they have penises? Yes. Way to only focus on genitals and not at what the gamedevs were trying to accomplish.
Hopefully after this is that she looses her credibility and vanishes from the game scene... But... Ya'know she's just gonna find a way to use this to get even more publicity, SJW followers and money.

This thread inspires me to contact my autistic friend that does a really good job of analyzing video games to try and get him to open a legit review site with me. Every gaming site I've seen reviews from every perspective except the actual merits of the game.

I nearly fell off my chair while reading this. The author made some good observations and seemed to have a point for the most part, but then ended his case with a plunge into the tinfoil hat territory. Came out of the left field, too.
I really don't think we are the only community that discusses wizards and/or doesn't like them.

This'll be a rare time I side with tumblr here. It's not about her making a good game at all, it's the fact that she used nepotism and manipulation to sleep with at least five separate men to put herself in a better position. That makes it seem like the whole manipulative bitch thing is alive and kicking. The industry really is pretty sexist and you can't deny that an individual doing something like this is a bad look on any group she belongs to. I get that it's just one person, but a lot of small time female developers are instead of taking the Five Guys shortcut working hard, so I would understand if a female were pissed off at them and thought they were setting the gender back a bit.

They will but the point is that its a legitimate thing and you can't really expect girls to just brush this off and say its not a big deal to 'women in gaming'. I'm not trying to be a SJW or anything since I'm not a woman, but I do think this is a big deal. I guess all that matters to me is that the gaming industry is corrupt enough for five people to get 'sucked' into this if you forgive the pun and I wouldn't give a shit if a guy or a girl was the one behind it, but it was a girl and its already a tough industry for women to be in.Especially the whole indie scene.
I'm just tired of the industry as a whole. My eyes look deader than Geoff Keighley's right now.
