It began earlier today, as her boyfriend revealed she slept with gaming press for favourable reviews. She's probably causing all this drama for monetary purposes as her game is being greenlit.

That's what I took out of it. She may have fucked other dudes for good reviews but dude does kind of come off like a bitch.

All this makes me miss the days when iD Software could do hookers and blow in a penthouse just because it's E3.
 
Her game was rushed through onto Steam to ride off of Robin Williams' death, she's already shown signs of pathological lying from the wizard issue and what Jontron had to say, and then there's this. Someone needs to tip off the head of Gawker that the website he keeps to laugh at is fucking shit up bigger than usual.

its essentially a choose your own adventure book but with sadness and feels instead of dragons and elves

so, i'd say no. it's not poorly written or offensive, its just bland and boring. which might've been the point i guess (although if "it's dull on purpose!" is a defense, i dont know what say)

its one of those "you download because your curious, finish it in an afternoon, delete it in the evening and dont think about it for the rest of your beautiful beautiful life" games.
 
A lot of reviews on Steam seem to say that it doesn't really tell you much about depression and just isn't a very realistic example of it. Here's a good review.

Why is Wizardchan to blame for her horror? How are they even fucking RELATED? Like she is horrifying. The guy was obv a bit of a nice guy, he met her online and he's a game dev. I-I just don't understand this. Why is this bitch getting the entire gaming scene riled up? Who the fuck cares if she's a woman, it's the utter... I don't even fucking know!

I haven't played it but I somewhat disagree. I don't think it's a good game by any rate nor am I expecting to writing to be wonderful, but its supposed to be an eye opener for people who don't understand what having depression feels like. I hardly think it should be qualified as a game at all, but ah well. Horrible person, great message, shitty medium to tell it through probably.

Tbh this seems like an overreaction. If you look up Depression Quest in Google news this whole thing isn't mentioned. Checked a few sites (Destructoid, IGN, Giant Bomb) and nothing has been mentioned. The only mention of Zoe Quinn is her appearing on an E3 podcast a month or so ago.

The whole thing seems like a blown out of proportion situation magnified (and really not that much considering the lack of attention) by people taking it way too seriously.

Based of the Imgur and the wizard chan thread that was linked in the first thread, perhaps. They probably think we are the ones behind it, having told Zoe Quinn about Wizardchan.
 
completely agree with troy here. you might hear about this on twitter or tumblr but twitter is literally a cesspool where the biggest retards on the planet send out 200 tweets a day in a glorious display of narcissism and tumblr has the attention span of a toddler that wasn't just dropped, but thrown. so something like this will trend for a day or two and then die out. big media and even shitty game sites couldn't really care less. it's just different internet subgroups all trying to cast bait in the same dried up fishing hole (oh god that metaphor and her sexcapes combined to make a terrible mental image)

i would really love to ask her in a week or two when she's not even a social media footnote if it was worth it. being outed as someone who sleeps with married men for minor efame, losing a boyfriend, destroying a swathe of professional relationships, carrying the mark of a pathological liar.
 
I first heard about it from Totalbiscuit, who doesn't normally get involved in these things. And Jim Stirling was also in the imgr thing, they're not really known for starting shit. I guess I just assumed it was big game news because I normally get my game news from TB
