I am completely baffled by this "sport". The goal is the size of a fuckin house but somehow 1-0 is considered a blowout. Hockey has a goal the size of a goat and a goalie the size of a car but scores are typically like 2-4. How the fuck do you not manage to hit the broad side of a barn with a ball? I'm starting to think the theory that soccer is only popular because it's the only sport poor people can play is true. Haaland is cool though.

He turned a not ideal situation but one that the team could equalize and get back into an unsalvageable situation. 2nd half, got about 30-35 minutes, just need to score one goal and its even again. What was he even trying to do there. Amateur hour. The mental side of knowing you have 30 minutes to get 2 goals but are also very susceptible to counterattacks if you fuck up is hard to get past.

Deer in headlights look from the defence on some of those. First one they are all standing in a line watching the Belgian team get in the box and line up a pass to sink it in. No one is being marked, no one is testing the guy really.

Belgium's been shit all tournament but you made them look like it was 2018 again

Honestly, Last 16 is a good result for USA, but you had such an opportunity to do QF and you blew it along with any goodwill the team had accrued. Better luck next time

I don't care about the US losing as the US always loses at soccer because it's a D-tier sport that no one athletic cares about (which is why the star player is a birthright citizen with no ties to the country).

Seeing the Mexicans lose made me happy because I'm imagining the spics who wore their real country's jersey to 4th of July celebrations crying and smashing their TVs.

The best part about the tournament is that Asians and middle-class Europeans have finally learned how awesome American culture is (the Japanese finally got to taste their beloved Texas Barbecue and the Euros finally discovered how nice it is to have A/C).

Best result for me personally is Messi scoring at least 1 goal today, leading to Argentina winning the match against Egypt just for them to get BTFOd by England, resulting in mass riots and the toppling of the Argentinian government.

I'll be glad if Argentina makes it out of this round. Champions as they are, one half of the team is made up of old and busted up players, and the other half hasn't yet appeared (I'm looking at you, Julián Álvarez). Messi is the only thing holding up this team, and even though he's prepared himself like crazy, and actualy enjoys being out there, it's very unfair to him to have to shoulder the burden of carrying the entire team.

If Argentina wins, the most likely team next is Colombia, and we know from the Copa América that that will be a very hard fight.

This is America's first/second year in F1. It takes awhile for these cars to get off the ground due to the engineering. You simply don't get it right first go around. Plus, nigger did you see any F1 last season? The advent of the new battery systems fucking WRECKED these engineers. The new battery requirements created races where ONE THIRD of the entire lineup simply could not start.

F1 will never be as popular in the US as Nascar. Heck I'd argue soccer will always be bigger simply due to the way F1 is aired.

I suspect the hockey puck may be a bit smaller than a soccer ball, and therefore a bit harder to block.

I think a lot of non-Americans misunderstand how we feel about the sport. In this country, it's mainly a sport that little kids play until they hit teenage years and can focus on football (American football that is), basketball, baseball etc. I don't know a single person that watches MLS, the people that do follow the sport here typically follow Premier League if they like a club, or maybe just Champions League.

I think we typically view the World Cup as on par with the Olympics, which is watched every 4 years and then soon forgotten. Soccer just isn't a sport that has generational fandom like a city's sports teams do here. It's viewed very casually here, if that makes sense. So people will troll you online about it because everyone knows how big the sport is elsewhere. but the reality is nobody here really cares that much. It's just another circus for us.
