I'd say Mbappe was less of a Bayern type approach and more of a he's the hottest young talent in the world who happens to be French, we need to snap him up before anyone else does, and we're willing to outspend everyone to do it approach.

Bayern get young talent on free's or reasonable fee's, and that's their overall approach, really.

PSG have Kimpembe, that's about it for their youth set up as far as the first team goes. The other French players in the squad are youth players who will probably never make it to make up the numbers or players like fucking Layvin Kurzawa, a relic of the Blanc era.
I thought they were going for that approach but you are right. They just saw him as an up and coming superstar. Honestly, they need to try and keep Mbappe, sell neymar, sell a few of their other mercenaries, and start poaching from the french league. The fact Newcastle were able to get Bruno Guimaraes from there should be shameful to PSG. They have so much money that the premier league should be getting the scraps from the French League instead of the stars

Abramovich has now been sanctioned, which means Chelsea can't be sold after all. They're being given license to continue operating, so they can still complete fixtures, but with absurd rules like no further ticket sales, and a limit on what the team can spend on away travel. Not really sure how Chelsea having to catch the bus everywhere is supposed to help Ukraine, but there you go. There's also speculation this will invite further punishments from the FA, Premier League, UEFA, basically everybody.

It'll never happen, but I'd love it if this ends up falling foul of FIFA's rules against government interference in football, and means England get banned from the World Cup. The seethe would be glorious.

Reason why it's dubbed "The Farmers League"

Nobody that goes to France is playing in the tier by choice. When Joey Barton had more success than Messi in the league, that's when you know the reality of affairs at PSG

Virtue signaling at its finest

That PSG team needs a complete overhaul and an identity

Kinda hoping that all the billionaire owners in the Premier League start going "Wait, the UK Government can strip me of this club I spent hundreds of millions on?" and leave, leading to the bubble completely popping and English football completely collapsing for a few decades.

This is a really stupid short term situation and like most other Russian sanctions, I don't think people are going to grasp how damaging they are to the the country inflicting the sanctions for a few months.

Its all virtue signaling at this point. There is no thought being put forward. Although it would be hilarious to see All the owners just pass off the clubs to the supporters with all debts attached to the club in like 2 years after taking on massive debts to try and win. Just leave the Brits complaining and drowning in debt

Not only would that be exactly what the English football establishment deserves, but after a lot of short-term pain, it would probably be a good thing long-term. Which means of course it won't be allowed to happen.

If you ever want to read the most retarded shit on the planet, just go under a BBC sport post about anything football related. You either get a bunch of cucked british people agreeing with retarded political stances they make or a bunch of african "experts" saying that a mistake would not have been made if done by a footballer from their shitty nation

PSG need a soft reset full stop. Their current model just isn't going to work. Did they learn nothing of the (relative) failure of the Galacticos era? Btw aren't we like 11 years or some shit into their oil money era? 1 CL Final appearance in that span, 0 wins. :story:
To put things into perspective, here's the list of top players that have played in QSG since 2011: Neymar, Kylian Mbappe, Leo Messi, Zlatan Ibrahimović, Edinson Cavani, Angel Di Maria, Thiago Silva, Marco Verratti, Marquinhos, Gianluigi Donnarumma, Keylor Navas, Sergio Ramos, Dani Alves, Gianluigi Buffon, David Beckham and many others. They broke the fucking bank on Neymar a few years ago and only gone higher since.
Here's what those French galactiques have achieved in CL:
four Round-of-16 appearances
four quarterfinals
one semifinal
one final (that they've lost lol)
They've fucking wasted a 4-0 aggregate lead to lose against Barcelona in that 6-1 rematch :story:
To give it some more context, here are the teams from France that have reached CL semifinal or higher in the 21st century:
AS Monaco - 2003/04 CL Final, 2016/2017 semifinal
PSG - 2019/2020 final, 2020/2021 semifinal
Olympique Lyon - 2009/2010 semifinal, 2019/2020 semifinal

This sanction of Chelsea right before they get sold is the dumbest shit I have seen. Is it just the British government that is this retarded?

Likely didn't want the Arabs near it, after the negative PR from Newcastle earlier this year. I firmly believe they are going to give preference to Candy and whoever he convinces to align with him. "See, it's back in British hands. We did good!"

But Chelsea were being sold. Why are you getting in the way of him selling the club?

I still can't get over how brazenly the UK government stalled the Newcastle deal. The deal was agreed around 18 months ago but kept getting stalled and stalled for some reason or another up until that piracy case was resolved and suddenly the deal goes through. I still believe the whole deal was to sabotage it so the Saudis would "withdraw" other than the UK government having to come up with a reason why they couldn't buy the club that somehow didn't apply to any club beforehand.

I do think English football is heading for a complete collapse here and the Chelsea situation may well be the first domino to fall.

In terms of star power for the Premiership, maybe? Fans of smaller sides and the lower leagues, they'll be content. No matter where you go in the UK, no matter the division; a 3pm or 5pm kick-off is happening Saturday afternoon.

You also have to remember that a lot of these clubs are making losses and are in debt. If they start losing star power and money behind their clubs, they will all just start collapsing. It will be the championship on steroids

The Premier League also partly funds the FA which provides the prize money all the way down the leagues. Some teams barely break even over a whole year because of this miniscule amount of cash. You see the Premier League completely imploding then the money that holds the entire league pyramid together could vanish, causing destruction all the way down.

I would love to see these clubs set back to 1920s level in the modern day. All this "history" that the Brits prize themselves in would just be eliminated overnight

After losing to Newcastle, it looked like Brentford were going to get into the relegation scrap. And with wins against Norwich and Burnley, they safely got out of there just as quickly as they entered

Foreign ownership of clubs has ruined the British game and has hurt every team still owned by the fans in Europe. The transfer market remains inflated during covid restrictions as even Bayern Munich can’t make a profit being run how a club should be. I wish the premier league would just be cut off from the rest of soccer because the perennial spending habits of their top teams is frankly retarded and is ruining the sport.
