1M to win hardly anything on a team that is notorious for starting slow in tournaments, grinding out wins, and being susceptible to results exactly like this against bad teams with luck on their side. Hope they could afford this idiotic loss.

Nice goal by the Kiwis there. But god damn I hate female announcers.

Disallowed goal by the Iranians in the final minutes of first half extra time. Please the last 4 games were draws and the only fun one was Spain v Cape Verde I need a win.

Turk in denial Drew Pavlou has weighed in on the situation

Reporting from the ground in boston

The Iraqis are not as generous or cool as the Scots and I dont understand what theyre saying and they all look like terrorists

Police action in downtown crossing brawls already

I miss the tartans already

Much like the Haitians on Saturday I barely see any norwiggers

There are apparently 8K Norwegians with tickets to the match. Including the Prime minister. I’m exited, but I won’t watch it live because it is the middle of the fucking night.

Vozinha had 50k followers in Instagram, CazeTV made a campaign and he is currently with 1.2 million followers so far.

The entire Cabo Verde has 500k in total population.
Fun fact: "Vozinha" in Portuguese means "Lil Grandma"

Spain, one of the best NTs in the world today, got stopped by a 40-year old keeper from Cape Verde nicknamed after a tender name for your nan.

Before the Germany - Curaçao match yesterday, a VAR made the 4chan OK (white power) hand gesture while appearing on live broadcast. The "Football Against Racism in Europe network" is trying to get him fired.

Update: the VAR has been cleared by FIFA with no repercussions, stating it was "an involuntary, subconscious twitch". The Guardian

Chuds win again :story:

Wtf is going on? Is this world cup completely gay? I'm watching Saudi Arabia vs Uruguay, half the players have pink shoes on. The referee, linesmen etc are all wearing pink. The keepers are wearing pink gloves. They're stopping for "hydration breaks". Why is this so gay looking?

Eta: gay shit

They discovered that the color that contrasts with green grass and captures the eye is pink. So Adidas and Nike be like: this will capture the viewers eyes and sell more cleats.

However everyone decided to do it at the same time and it became a mess, making any other color not pink stand out more since most of the players are using the same cleats.

As for the referees, since the game was on Miami where the base of the referees are being trained, they decide to homage them with Miami colors.

Interestingly the BBC actually did an article on this:https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/articles/c0ryn5wqywgo

The TLDR:
But the simple reason the companies have hit upon pink is because of how it contrasts with the green of the pitch.

It stands out whether you are watching on television, at the stadium, or scrolling on your phone.

The pink boot shows up if you are looking at slow-motion clips, or watching under stadium lights.

In a nutshell - it is highly visible.

But the irony may be that, with so many manufacturers arriving at pink, perhaps it is more difficult for their designs to stand out?

It's because Eurocucks can't handle a bit of heat amirite? xDx

Mostly seems to be an excuse for more advertising, hence why they're mandating it for all games, even those that don't need it. We've had them on an ad-hoc basis in previous WCs. No doubt FIFA will insist on keeping this around for future WCs and it will end up being sold as a feature to broadcasters when angling for more broadcast revenue

I was reading an article earlier about Rashford's options since Barca don't seem to want him, but the interesting part was this bit that I hadn't heard before:
Last week, world governing body Fifa announced a memorandum of understanding with global players' union Fifpro. Within the detail, it was confirmed any player exiled from the main group can demand to be released – and to have their contracts paid up.
Am I the only person who finds this completely insane? Seems way too broad
