Watched a slideshow of furcon pics brought up in relation to some dude LARPing as jschlatt. Christ, I still do not understand how the fandom attracts people anymore. It has to be the way of troons and goons: social grooming. Sure as shit ain't no larger space for the community, not that there ever was, but FA is a larger dumpster fire than even it used to be. And shit it was mocked at its peak as well.

I've seen furries appear on amino and other non-ERP/gaming/porn spaces and I genuinely wonder if it's just the whole OC thing that attracts people. The fact furcons are still going means newcomers must keep appearing cause most people grow out of that shit in their late 20s.

Not exactly drama, but still pretty funny:

This year’s Anthro New England theme is the Old West/western movies, but wearing anything even slightly western-themed will get you in trouble for “appropriation.” That means no hats, weapons, ropes, or anything connected to Native American culture.

If they’re not going to let anyone actually roleplay the theme and only allow a narrowly defined niche that cuts out most of the aesthetic, it raises the bigger question: why even bother with the western theme in the first place?
How about the ANE Convention Board Members go even loonier? Will they say don't dress as animal characters which are not native to where you live. "Sorry Mrs. Kangaroo, that costume is not allowed to be worn by you at ANE because you the costumer are not Australian."

What are Australians oppressed by? Spiders?

The Aussies fear the Emu

I didn't know anyone even dressed up for con theming, amazing it's that big a worry.
I know people that only do it on Saturday for photos and stuff. Especially if the theme is easy like College, Summer vacation or so broad you just need to buy one or two things to actually pull it off.

Oh I think I still have some ideas that will fit the theme.

You know with all the mass shootings in the world I've always been amazed no one's ever done one at a Furry Convention dressed as Elmer Fudd.
Hearing about all the CrayCray Furry Drama, it's probably only a matter of time.

The Furries would just confuse him with their "Pronouns Season" in place of "Wabbit Season/Duck Season".

Bomb Voyage Guy/Pablo from Brandon Herrera and Wendigoon fame was a famous furry who did exactly this for 2 years until some retard in commiefornia got him banned for the toy gun.

Superb Pedro was banned from Further Confusion by cowardly Neckbeards, Troons and a Habeeb Girl.

Adding to the Further Confusion drama, there are two documents allegedly being distributed at the event that are currently making furries seehte uncontrollably.

The first letter is a section from Further Confusion's code of conduct stating that suggestive outfits are completely banned in convention spaces, and cramming a bunch of people into a room for a party is also prohibited. I haven’t been able to confirm if this one is legit or not, but I’ve seen photos of it circulating on social media.

FURCON
FURTHER CONFUSION

Attendee Code of Conduct

General Information:

Further Confusion (“FurCon®”) is an event organized and hosted by Anthropomorphic Arts and Education, Inc. (“AAE”), a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization.

The goal of Further Confusion is to enable our attendees to have the best time possible. While our attendee demographic generally consists of adults, FurCon is an all-ages event.

Further Confusion strives to maintain professionalism at all times.

Be Considerate

We hope that each attendee enjoys the fun that our wide-ranging community can provide. Please consider how your actions reflect on the convention and how they may impact or affect others. We take pride in our appearance and we want you to as well, while still having fun. To this effect, if the convention becomes aware of any of our attendees engaging in illegal activities, we will be forced to inform the proper authorities. What you consider to be acceptable behavior may not be so for others. Consideration of others is the hallmark of a mature individual and a healthy fandom, and we encourage that courtesy from all participants in our community.

Costumes, Clothing, Behavior, and Safety

Show off your costume work! Costumes of all designs and materials are welcome, provided that they are displayed in a manner appropriate for all ages. We ask that you keep attire reasonably inoffensive. As a rule, no “anatomically correct” costume may be shown in public areas. Collars, leashes, and sled-dog like harnesses may be worn either with costumes or discreetly with your normal street clothing; overt and blatant displays of bondage/BDSM may result in you being asked to leave public convention space.

Further Confusion and our partner hotels want to ensure a safe and comfortable environment for everyone on the premises. As a reminder, disruptive noise, loud music, excessive visitors in your room, and activities deemed a public nuisance are not tolerated by our hotel partners. Guests who fail to follow Further Confusion’s code of conduct, breach any of our partner hotels’ policies, or ignore our safety partners’ instructions may receive a warning. Further violations may result in eviction from the hotel as well as ejection from the event. Remember that our partner hotels work with Further Confusion to ensure the event is safe and comfortable for everyone. Because our hotel partners serve both event attendees and non-event guests, we ask that you be respectful and considerate during your stay.

Another (seemingly more official) document was reportedly given to furries at check-in, stating that they had to sign an agreement (before gaining access to their rooms) not to host parties. If they did so anyway, the hotel reserved the right to evict them.

Dear Valued Guest,

Welcome to the San Jose Marriott Hotel! For the comfort and safety of all our guests, we would like to emphasize our hotel standards and expectations for the comfort of all our guests:

  • Your room cannot be used for parties or other activities that would create a noise complaint from other hotel guest(s) or staff. A minimum recovery fee of $250.00 will be charge to the guest for room damages, smoking, and noise disturbance. This document will be considered as first warning. No second warning will be given due to the disruption of other hotel guests.
  • You are responsible for the payment of your account. A deposit (to be determined at check-in) and full payment of room and tax will be required before you are allowed to receive your room key(s). In the event that any damages are inflicted as a result of your occupancy, the cost of reparation will be solely your responsibility.
  • The legal drinking age, in the state of California, is at least twenty-one (21) years of age. Underage drinking or the presence of alcohol in the same room with minors without their legal guardians present, is cause for all immediate eviction, forfeiture of your deposit, and escorting you and your guests from the hotel property.
  • Fire codes restrict the number of people allowed into a room to four (4) persons. Tampering of fire equipment is against local and state codes. Anyone found violating these codes will be asked to leave the hotel and forfeit any deposits or payments made towards the room.
  • Anyone may be asked to leave the hotel property (at any time) if their conduct endangers others and disrupts or prohibits the enjoyment of any of our owners or guests. Any registered guest or non-registered guest, who doesn’t comply with the terms listed above regarding this hotel’s standards and expectations, will be asked to leave the hotel and forfeit any deposits or payments made toward the room.
  • We (the San Jose Marriott Hotel) reserve the right to request the assistance of local authorities in maintaining law and order in promoting our hotel standards and expectations, in order to preserve safety for our staff and guests. We (the San Jose Marriott Hotel) will not be held responsible for any damage or loss, to your room, due to an individual’s conduct while at this property.

By my signature, I certify that I have read and understand the hotel’s policy listed above.

What makes this document seem more legitimate is that FurCon actually tweeted a response to it, which only adds to the confusion, since their statement appears to contradict what’s in the contract. The contract says the document itself is your first and only warning, while their official statement claims you’ll receive at least one warning.

Clarification regarding Marriott check-in policy

We have engaged the Marriott team and have received some additional information on the check-in policy. The Marriott has acknowledged our feedback and wants to reassure us that attendees will be given notice before any negative policy is enforced regarding noise complaints. We would also like to remind our attendees to please be respectful and mindful of other guests in the hotel, including being conscious of their noise levels.

I have to say, I’m not familiar with any furry events that have asked attendees to sign an agreement like this before getting access to their rooms. Is this something hotels often do when hosting furry conventions? If anything, the wording in FurCon’s statement makes it seem like this entire contract was introduced without the convention’s knowledge.

Either way, it seems pretty obvious to me that Marriott has had enough of the furries and really doesn’t want to host the convention anymore. From what I understand, Further Confusion didn’t secure the whole hotel in their room block, so there is a very high chance that non-furry guests would still be staying there during the event. Most of them (along with a lot of congoers, honestly) probably wouldn’t want to deal with the degenerate pup hoods or BDSM gear all over the hotel lobby.

No, at worst they just give you a list of rules like one year BLFC didnt allow outside alchol to be brought in.

The FE should have secured a new hotel because FE is a party con so now thier really isn't a point to go when ANE is the same week and you only have to put up with a easily ignoreable crazy tranny.

This from the con that started the "Night Market" for a fetish wear party. And I think the key word here is 'public convention space'. FC is unique in that you have to walk through the 'public' hallways to get to con space. The vibe I get from this is that the volleyball tournament they're perpetually double-booked with finally got real traction with their complaints. With the furries getting deeper and deeper into fetish wear, that's easy to understand.

One wonders if the party thing is ALL rooms or if there's still a party floor wrapped in plastic. If the latter then it's a crackdown on a preexisting rule.

Vanilla Marriott may not be Michelin material, but it's pretty high end for tourist grade hotels, and their clientele would (and probably has) complained about deranged perverts who can't keep their cocks in their pants wandering around perving on kids.

Further Confusion didn’t secure the whole hotel in their room block
I don't think they ever did. Major chain hotels near international airports have rooms blocked out annually by airlines no matter what. There's always entire cabin crews and pilots getting checked in every few hours at hotels like those.
