Nevermind the results, I want to hear the logic jiu-jitsu SJWs and the like (who have kicked and screamed about Hillary's loss being due to "sexism") go forward with now to explain how Le Pen's loss is totally legitimate and not at all related to sexism as Hillary's was.

Let's see how they weasel their way out of this one...

It won't happen because most of those SJWs don't even know there is a whole world beyond Berkeley.

Which is both hilarious and sad because a sizable portion of Tumblr started #Jenesuispascharlie after the attack because one of them cherry picked a few of their caricatural covers and accused them of being a far right racist/homophobic/islamophobic journal (when they're actually pro right/freedom for everyone and uses said caricature to pinpoint problems.

I don't know why everyone is in a tizzy. Macron's party had ZERO representatives other than him, meaning he has to build a coalition of other parties in the French Parliament. He's going to be gridlocked, more so if Melenchon and Le Pen gain seats in the next elections.

Plus, he can bluster and splutter all he likes about protecting the EU, all this is doing is putting the EU on life support. That organisation is doomed, but instead of a quick violent end at the hand's of Le Pen, it will die slowly and painfully.

This really was inevitable for anyone who understood French politics. That said, I predict the Front national's power will continue to grow. Macron is unsuited to leading the French government, will continue to drive home the unpopularity of an unreformed EU in the republic, and is following on the heels of a deeply disliked leader (as his successor no less!)

His best hope is that he gets lucky and someone else finds a way to resolve issues like the refugee crisis and the banking sector post-Brexit before he is actually put to the test. In the best case scenario, he is a James Monroe type of president- to make an American comparison. In the worst case scenario? He is a James Buchanan. In no way, though, was there reason to doubt this outcome. French polling has been reliable and Le Pen, while an admirable and effective politician, was not capable of by herself beating everyone. Comparing her to Trump was somewhat dishonest on the part of pundits. Even at his worst, he generally pulled more support from all sides than she does.

I say May is dispelling the image as she's actually putting forward solutions to Britain's social problems rather than dogfire.jpging it.

She's a hopeless case mate. What solutions has she actually put forward? All she's done so far is support the cutting of various social services that predominantly help native Brits get along.

And also remember she was the one in charge of immigration when she was Home Secretary and did fuck all to sort that mess out.

She's useless and those who think otherwise are delusional.

I'm seeing a country with a culture that has a pretty much open disdain for Islam and has faced a pretty stunning barage of terror attacks from islamic extremists still reject the far right nationalist candidate.

I get that everyone has their political views but surely this is at least partially a commentary on how far (or alt) right/nationalist movements are being viewed abroad, right? I mean didn't a similar thing happen in the Netherlands?

I'm waiting for them to set up this independent EU Army (without even the UK) they seem to keep talking about. Won't that be special.

If Jean Claude Juncker believes that this election result means he has the ability to create an EU army, then he's been at his drinks cabinet again.

Not entirely true, many sitting politicians plan to leave their parties to join En Marche.

This poll estimates they'll get between 249 and 286 seats. In comparison, National Front will get 15-25.

Grammar Schools and recognising that the White Working Class are actively discriminated against are things that come to mind. I get why people don't like her, but I trust her as Prime Minister a lot more than any of the other gimps.

I utterly adore France, I love it to death, but anyone who thinks that the French have the good sense of the British is a very optimistic person.
