You guys knows that it was evident from everyone living in france (so, apparently not much from this thread) that Macron was going to win right?

Not that it matters, because the legislative will be much more important, but it was funny how everywhere started acting like this was a big deal and not a previsible outcome because "muh trump".

B-b-but meme magic

Doesn't Macron pretty much want to keep letting a ton of refugees in, while also turning a blind eye to all the really terrible shit that's happening in France because of them? "We just have to live with it", or something?

I don't really see how that's a victory, no matter how bad Le Pen was said to be. It just kind of seems like people burying their heads in the sand because the issue involves brown people. I mean, everyone jokes about how Europe is going to become a caliphate, but with the birth rates and amount of radicalization going on, shit.

I blame Merkel and Clinton.

At least Theresa May is helping disprove the women in power are useless theory.

Y'know what the difference is between, say, Merkel and Clinton and someone like May?

The other two were basically pampered into their positions. They're both from relatively high up positions in their backgrounds before gaining political power.

Merkel was a scientist and researcher (well treated by Soviet standards) while Clinton has... y'know, the Clinton Dynasty and all its nasty wetworkers backing it up.

May's nigh enough a regular woman who had one deep down desire (be the Prime Minister) and has fought out and out wars with male colleagues and won, and will pretty much take your fucking head clean off if you talk down or try and explain stuff to her that she already knows, as quite a few non-Home Office SPADS and civil servants now know.

Ken Clarke's described her as a "bloody difficult woman" and even a Prime Minister didn't dare go up against her.

This is because she doesn't have as silver spoon an upbringing as the other female national leaders which can leap to mind.

======================

Meanwhile, this result is totally unsurprising, the vote stack was never really going to go LePen's way and Macron now has to figure out how to get the National Assembly on side as he's a bizarre centrist outsider with a hilarious desire to try and steal the City of London away to Paris and its 75% top tax rate.

Margareth Thatcher did it long before May, and cucked a lot more men in the process.

I'd go more historical and blame Thatcher tbh.

Edit: Oh bugger, I was too slow.

May was the daughter of a vicar who was educated at a grammar school and then a private Catholic prep-school before studying at Oxford University. She then married an investment banker from a privileged background.

That's a pretty standard route to the top for someone in the British political class to take. The only real difference between her and the usual Tory is that she wasn't educated at Eton. I guess the Tory supporting media is trying to deify her as the new Thatcher, who came from far more humble beginnings than May.

At least Theresa May is helping disprove the women in power are useless theory.

How exactly? She and her team haven't exactly handled the Brexit negotiations with competence and her refusal to take part in televised debates for an election she herself called doesn't really scream 'I know what I'm doing'.

Except she hasn't done jack shit but kick the can down the road to leave the European Union.

A true shitlord like Papa Le Pen would have been so much more electable.

I say May is dispelling the image as she's actually putting forward solutions to Britain's social problems rather than dogfire.jpging it.

Even Charlie Hebdo hates this #nastywoman and those fuckers are constantly being shoot at.

There's a lot of hysteria about Trump and Brexit that I feel is bleeding into the rest of the world. No one wants to be the next one of those. I think the world needs to see that GB and the US won't blow up before letting someone like Le Pen in. Problem is that by then we might be dealing with Europistan.
