Confirmed there is going to be an extra wet test for the cars now to try them with wet tyres, in Bahrain with the sprinkler systems used to make it wet.
nothing summarizes F1 quite like this post.

1. an extra test to use tires that they won't be allowed to race on
2. in bumfuck middle east
3. fake rain from sprinklers

it's so on the nose that it feels like it could go on the front page of the onion.

In their defense, testing wet tires at Bahrain makes a lot of sense because of how abrasive and high deg the circuit is
Look at wet tires developed on smooth tracks and you know how disastrous that is

I wonder how pit stops will look with how the battery apparently copes with low speed. Will they be revving high the entire way down the pit lane to keep the battery ready for their reentry onto the track? Will they lose about a minute or more of time per pit because they can’t get up to speed due to low battery charge? I hope they have it figured out because, between awkward starts and pit stops, it could be disastrous if things don’t work out.

Shit, what about safety cars? There’s so much that could go wrong with these batteries.

The AD21 safety car is for sale, for 600k GBP (alt link)
I'm not making this up

Let them plug in to charge the battery during pit stops. Y'all wanted refueling, right?

I did not know that an internal combustion engine could be louder than a motorcycle until I was next to a drag racer revving.

Even with hearing protection on it sounded like a motorcycle running right next to me.

I wonder how the field will look in 2 weeks. but it seems as if Ferrari has a good car again. Maybe Hamilton will finally get his first Ferrari podium (only to be again be wrecked by Leclerc)

Boy, this will be a total shitshow for sure. At least something somewhat funny (and infuriating too, how much F1 can be shit by this point?)

That is a good question. They will sit in their box reving their heart out to keep the turbo spooled. But I see some problems with sub 3 second pitstops.

Well, the manufacturer votes are all but secured considering that they all voted to have it checked again (except Merc of course). Now let's see what the FIA decides.

Also, is a smaller turbo for Ferrari an issue? Sure it seems to be quicker to spool up but maybe less power down the line? Or is it simply a compact turbo and the power is the same?

Smaller means it has to rev higher which means there's more frictional losses and therefore less max power, though it should also make the ferrari more responsive out of slow corners, off the grid and at pit stops..

I see. So Ferrari might have a car for slow tracks but not necessarily for high speed tracks or tracks with very long straights. Maybe they are counting on the active aero being helpful enough that the smaller Turbo doesn't impact them too much.
