They should rename it Formula Tyres at this point. It's so far from drivers and machines now. It's just tyres this, tyres that, so exhausting.

In all fairness, the wheels are the only part of the car that touches the track, under normal circumstances. They're the single point of interaction between the driver/car and the world

There's a reason why America isn't a big presence in F1. We just don't have the culture that supports it; we tend to dominate when we actually give a shit about it. But like everything these days, everyone seems to think "If you build it, they will come", when in reality, it typically is the opposite: you build it because they came.

I'd love for a new team to come on board and be exciting, but does America have the patience to wait 3 years? Maybe we'll hit a culture swing where everyone realizes a slow burn might just be what the doctor ordered, for many areas of life, and they will build it up. But I'm not going to build my hopes on it.

Americans do have the patience to wait- but the ones that do are the ones that were always going to watch F1 in the first place. The DTS casuals? No.

I feel like what nobody gets is that Americans are a little different from the various Europeans who cheer for drivers just because they have the right passport. Americans who are into F1 are into it because they're fans of racing, and they cheer for the drivers that are good at racing. We're not going to automatically cheer for Caddy just because they're American. Did Americans give a fuck about Haas? No. Did we care about Logan Sargeant? No, we shit on him. Cadillac can't just show up and expect to have an instant fanbase because America. They have to earn it. If they do poorly, we won't care. If Colton Herta shits the bed and still gets promoted and extended, we're not going to defend him because America.
 
I'm going to cheer for caddy because all the other teams were such greedy fucks when trying to gatekeep a new entry.
I also like Bottas and Perez, and caddies endurance racing success gives me hope that they don't halfass it like the previous attempts at an American F1 team.
They probably won't be fighting for points in the first two years or so, but the team looks solid and prepared, with the right expectations, so they should be able to build something.

I don't pretend know all of his motivations (that new merchandise line is absolute faggotry; I'm beginning to think that Ferrari fired Sainz because they cared more about being the team of metrosexual fashion proto-icons and Sainz is too much of a nerd to care about that sort of thing), but nothing can possibly be worse than wasting your prime years at an organization that has repeatedly screwed you and then, the president tells the world you're the problem.

All right, predictions for the weekend: I think Norris is on a run and he takes it. Verstappen will give him a chase, but the fact that he hasn't been dominating for at least the past month means he'll be in the running, but isn't going to put his whole heart into it. Russell for third. Piastri will be lurking somewhere around top 5. Team Ferrari is demoralized and (chalk to up to my grim sense of humor), it will take another racetrack death for at least one of them to pull their shit together.
 
Apparently there have been massive downpours and some flooding in Vegas and they are already talking about it maybe affecting schedule. LOLOL

McLaren hasn't done so well in LV, saw that Oscar and Norris have BOTH scored less points than Stroll in the two races. If there is ever an opportunity for Max to get a good amount of points over the other 2, this is it. A Norris DNF is needed at some point though, preferably this weekend.
 
The promised rain comes to the desert instead of the rainforest; such is life. McLaren isn't that great in this track, and Verstappen Is gonna dominate once more. You may say that he hasn't been dominating, but he's the fastest guy on the grid and especially in the wet. If it rains we can see wild things happen.
 
i couldn't catch fp1 but apparently yuki was third fastest. did anything else happen?

Gunter was important for the early start of HAAS though he didn't have the stuff for the team to remain mid field. I'll say it was his commentary that likely helped keep HAAS on the grid given the level of cursed their sponsorship dollars seemed to be.
 
FP2 wasn't very hint delivering as we had 2 red flags, One because of a loose manhole cover (AGAIN!) so not everyone used softs. It seems though as if Mclaren and Mercedes seem to set the tone. Also, Leclerc and Hülkenberg in 3 and 4 with Leclerc 3rd fastest on Mediums while the rest was on Soft. No one had a chance to test the Hard tyres so maybe expect some chaos with different strategies during the race. Maybe we just need one tyre that gets modified for certain trackls depending on the abuse the tyre has to endure

I think it is one of those few races that is fucked for our UK and European crew.

Its 12:18AM here for me.

I got to say with the conditions, I am very surprised they are even doing Q!
