It did lead, although only for a few years, to the coolest and fastest cars ever at Le Mans and also some of the best racing, so pick your poison I guess. There is no perfect solution! That amount of technical freedom is expensive and in WEC it ultimately resulted in the death of LMP1 once the costs spiraled out of control (well that and dieselgate). I don't think you're going to see regs that allow for things like that with a cost cap in place.
Pierre masterclass incomingBoth Mercs were given a 1 place grid penalty, so here is the new Top 5 for the race:
1 Oscar Piastri McLaren Mercedes
2 Charles Leclerc Ferrari
3 George Russell Mercedes
4 Pierre Gasly Alpine Renault
5 Kimi Antonelli Mercedes
You measn Leclerc improves each session. The gap between Leclerc and Hamilton was never so big in the earlier races this season. It seems whatever trick Leclerc found in Suzuka seems to be working only for him. Yes I know Hamilton is in a new team but he is a 7 time champion. A veteran. He should be quicker to adapt to a new team.Ferrari improves session after session
Way past his prime, even as king nog of merc when they were building rocket ships towards the end he was struggling to fend off Vettel and then Verstappen in much slower cars. Toto knew he was washed hence the constant 1 year contracts, he knew as soon as they couldn't carry him he'd be dead weight.Yes I know Hamilton is in a new team but he is a 7 time champion. He shouldn't have been in the end, race control really fucked that one up.albon out too
It feels very harsh that it's not a team fine or reprimand. At least they only went 1 place and not 3. I suppose the FIA are right saying that there is an advantage to doing what they did so teams would just eat the fine to get the advantage but it still feels harsh. Both Mercs were given a 1 place grid penalty,
Reminder that they've been fucking with the tyres in an attempt to improve the show for 14 years now. Every single thing has been tried and tried again at this point, except just eliminating pitstops altogether.Way past his prime, even as king nog of merc when they were building rocket ships towards the end he was struggling to fend off Vettel and then Verstappen in much slower cars. Mclarens are fastest over a lap but the slowest top speed, I wonder how much that will hurt Norris trying to get though the field and if Piastri will have trouble defending on a track with many DRS zones.

In other news the FIA and Pirelli have decided the shitty tyres that fall apart in a lap aren't shitty enough and we need more tyre preservation "races".
