I don’t get why so many content creators are in lawson’s dick. Dude isn’t good. When he outqualified Yuki they were like SEE RED BULL

Meanwhile Lawson in qualifying is

0-3 vs max

1-2 vs yuki

And most damning

0-3 vs hadjar a rookie

I'm not happy I called Tsunoda being outqualified by Lawson and Hadjar, but I called it. Hadjar has way more potential than most people think because they're too busy memeing on him for crying.

I didn't expect so many of this year's rookies to be so meh, and I didn't expect Lawson to be a straight up dud. tbh the only rookies I rate thus far are Kimi and Ollie; they're good, but they're not as impressive as Pastry was during his rookie year (and tbf I don't think we'll see a rookie of Pastry's talent for at least another couple of seasons).

If Hadjar could manage to stop being a sooky la-la for a minute, then yeah... he could have potential. But rn I don't rate him. Maybe if he hardens up a bit and consistently qualifies in the top 10, then I may reassess my opinion.

He was the most consistent driver in F2 last year and would have been champion if he hadn't come down with a severe case of Mecachrome, so yeah, I rate him. I think Lawson isn't bad so much as his confidence is completely shattered and I don't think he'll ever get back to the place where he was beating Danny Ric on pace, but you don't lose Super Formula by half a point in your rookie year by being bad.

Kimi is probably the best rookie on the grid right now. I thought Toto was setting him up for failure by treating him like Italian Jesus, but he's put the Mercedes exactly where it should be and hasn't embarrassed himself. Bearman is also showing why Ferrari's so high on him, but it took him a couple weeks.

Basically, the only rookie I've never seen show anything to suggest he's F1 caliber is Doohan, but he's probably not long for this world anyways.

That's a fair comment. It seems like Doohan got to where he is based on his name. Not everyone can be a Verstappen or a Sainz; there has to be Schumachers and Sennas too. I suspect that Alpine is still kicking themselves over the last time they let an Aussie driver slip through their fingers on account of keeping him on the shelf for too long...

As for the rest of the Rookie Class of '25, I agree that Kimi is a standout and the rest will probably come good.

Lawson has the weight of the world on his shoulders rn. He can obviously drive, but the combination of intense media scrutiny and RBR's apparent implosion would be very difficult for anyone to deal with, let alone a rookie. Hopefully the move to Racing Bulls will take the heat off and help him rebuild some confidence.

All the discussion around Lawson and Hadjar reminds me what a shit show F1 is for rookies. The lack of testing time really is a crime against these young guys and the sport as a whole. Nevermind its why the team to first figure out the new ruleset dominates for the majority of its duration post 2014 or so.

The same thing happens in Nascar. The sanctioning body keeps restricting the private testing time to save money, and then the rookies get worse and worse.

He is the only one of the rookie with early 2000's millage of testing before the season on Previous seasons car . (9000Km)

Mercedes (Rookie Driving) and Red Bull (To see where they got the upgrade wrong) abused that rules so hard that Vasseur decided to bitch at the FIA instead of taking it helplessly. :stress:

All weebs should be gassed but this is a 10/10

They should also give based bonuses. -1 sec for every based things yelled on radio.

Also, can someone please yellowflag this race. It's the world's fastest procession.
