Not really an F1 channel, but one of the few motorsport YouTube channels I watch (or listen to) religiously is Apex Hunters United. It's heavily skewed towards Supercars, but they touch on other categories too when they have guests on, such as IndyCar's Scott Mclaughlin

and NASCAR's Shane van Gisbergen

Maybe they'll get Daniel Ricciardo or Liam Lawson on there one day, especially if/when the latter is pushed out into IndyCar.

Both three-time Supercars champions, it must be noted.
SvG and Scotty can drive, for sure.

Whilst on the topic of Antipodean drivers, if (more like when) Lawson and Doohan end up being yeeted from F1, I'd like to see both of those guys give IndyCar a crack. Would be interesting to see how they go when lined up against a former Supercars driver.

I know Scotty Mac has been driving IndyCar for a few years now, but it's the first open wheeler category he's raced in since karting as a kid, whereas the other two have mainly been open wheel racers. Could the years of experience in lower-tier open wheel categories give Lawson and/or Doohan an edge?

I don't actually think it's a guarantee that Lawson will wash out. We've seen a bunch of other drivers that have been mentally broken by the 2nd Red Bull seat go on to successful careers at other teams. It's kind of 50/50 whether he ends up going the way of Albon or the way of Checo, imo. If he does wash out, I see him being kicked into WEC purgatory, not Indycar.

F2 experience is a definite plus to Indy teams, to the point where the series itself had to give the Indy NXT champion a bunch of money to incentivize teams to sign them because they were getting passed over for guys coming from F2. Then Dennis Hauger figured out the NXT winner gets money and has been completely smacking the field. There's one dominant driver every year, a few with some flashes of talent but not on that level, and then a bunch of no-hopers.

FP1 has just started if anyone is bored and needed a reminder.

nothing notable. albon went off, lando cried a bit on radio. fp2 in 2 or 3 hours i think

If anyones watching F1 just showed an interview with brundle and hamilton watching monaco footage. It was just wrapping up lewis's first win there when this gem dropped:

this was great, diddy was here who i was a massive fan of

Genuinely surprised they didn't edit it out. Couldn't clip because stream :(

Doohan is cooked. Put it in the wall 4 laps into FP2. He's thoroughly fucked.
NB: he didn't even drive in FP1, some jap did.

He was very visibly shook getting out of the car so seems like it was a pretty bad one. Doesn't look like it was driver error but I doubt it'll matter to alpine.

Quite hard to tell without the sound, but I think that he's messed up the differential. Could've been over rev aswell, but judging by the steering wheel revs were fine...
Either way yeah, Colapinto probably grins and rubs his hands right now 👹

The resolution isn't high enough but my money is on DRS still being open. I think the light (top right) on the wheel is showing it's still active.

edit; I've been told it's the five green lights that show DRS was still open

I thought it automatically closes DRS before entering the turn, but I guess I was wrong. Good point.

It does if you break, but that's flat out so RIP. I could be wrong, the F1 commentators said it wasn't DRS but...

Second red flag now, alonso is off. Another bad session for the rookies.

zzz red flag number 3. Grass caught fire. Session clock should be stopped during red flags tbh.
ZZZ red flag number FOUR. more grass fire.

The grass..,the grass..the grass is on fire

I hope this doesn't happen in the race or we will get Safety Cars galore

Damn, that car was pretty much parallel with the wall on impact. How much worse are side impacts than frontal or rear impacts? Intuitively, it seems like having the nose to cushion the impact is better but idk about shunts from behind.
