Whoever was doing sainz strategy needs firing. There's no level of incompetence that even describes that strategy, it was absokute nonsense.

He had the faster tyre to come, throw it on with 10-12 laps to go and have him go hell for leather. Even if he burned them out or binned it at least you went for it rather than meekly standing aside.

Playing "let's wait for a safety car" on a track with a 40% safety car rate is beyond retarded.

It would definitely be risking it but it's that or just accept 3rd. There's noting to lose as the status quo is merc winning anyway.

Letting him through is one thing, risking the position by getting into a fight with George is too risky. It's Leclerc for God's sake, he'd probably wreck himself out in the attempt.

Yeah I kinda understand rolling the safety car dice, but there's no reason to leave Carlos out that long. Bring him in a bit earlier and he can take fastest lap and try to sneak it into the points. If there's a late safety car he'd be on fresh tyres and ready to overtake.

Also, needing Charles to do the strategy at the end was embarrassing. Maybe if the team had thought of it they could've done it earlier and backed up George a bit.

Checo again being a clumsy fuckup to lose out on a podium. Max didn't have much to do but pretty high class defending in lap 1.

As they pointed out with 6 laps to go if he pitted he would have come out in 18th even with safety car pit times. Assuming no one else pitted and it was a 3-4 lap safety car (middle Eastern stewards do not clear tracks particularly seiftly) then it still leaves him with 2-3 laps to make up 8 places with no DRS until the last lap and everyone in a DRS train anyway. It was retarded to wait it out past 9/10 laps to go.

Plus the likes of hambone, who were ahead of him at the time, could have pitted too and stayed ahead leaving no tyre advantage for Sainz.

The seeth of merc losing on the last lap due to a safety car in AD would have been hilarious but it was never realistically on.

Well let's hope McLaren and Ferrari get their shit together properly from the start of the season in 24. A three way battle for the WCC (and consequently the WDC) would be great. Conversely if Merc get their shit together it will be insufferable with F1 media fawning over him and sending his toxic following against whoever is competing against him.
