LMAO F1TV just showed a clip of the start of the 2005 Belgian Grand Prix, which was also in the wet. They did a normal grid start and no one crashed on the opening lap.

With the new oval 'wet pavement' tires and procedures, IMO NASCAR is more brave than F1 with rain now. And yes they've used them.
