Ferrari really manages to fuck everything up, both cars dropping five places from qualifying. Stroll belongs in a stock car.
Bringing Leclerc in again was a really odd decision. Yeah it was a cheap stop under the safety car but wasn't necessary.

It looked liked they told Sainz to pit too (had his tyres ready) but he stayed out

Verstappen moved in slow-motion off the grid, like someone had basted his tires in treacle.

Norris, despite little chinks here and there, where his relative inexperience showed through, was mercurial. His defence against Hamilton has been the highlight of the season for me. You see the true measure of a driver when he is holding his own at a disadvantage, compared to those around him. I would have lost money on him keeping that position.

I am divided on Mclaren's decision regarding tire strategy. I understand there were concerns regarding wear. Had Norris gone onto softs, who is to say that his set wouldn't have degraged faster that those on Hamilton's car.

Watching a Ferrari struggling against a Williams in 2023 is a truly pitiful spectacle.

Stroll got off very lightly in my opinion. I guess the thinking was that neither him nor Gasly were in the points.

The Ferraris were shit on hards makes sense to try and put him on a faster compound to attack after the SC, the baffling decision was to try and undercut Russell while ahead, under the Medium's pit window and with a more lasting tyre compound. Ferrari works in mysterious ways.

A theory: Leclerc missed FP2 completly which means he and Ferrari had less data to conclude that the tyres were able to withstand more abuse. top me it looked as if both Ferrari's were on a rather tyre saving strat and after the race they said that the tyre deg wasn't as bad as expected. Probably because it was a rather cool race. Hungary might be another story.

He'll be getting a call from Helmut if he keeps it up. I doubt Perez is staying at the end of the season.
One thing I don't see discussed enough in the talk around Checo: Carlos Slim's money can go a loooooong way. His performance still can't be excused by that right now, but...

He's at the tail end of his career and if he decides to walk away from the sport, nobody's gonna blame him for deciding to be a family man.

Why the fuck did the idiot stewards at the Bri'ish GP decide they needed a safety car when they were removing the Haas without issues with a VSC? All it did was hand over Piastri's rightful third place to the least deserving of the Merc drivers. Almost as if they thought "wait, Blewis hasn't pitted yet, lets give him a hand". I'm sure they wouldn't be that blatant, but that's what it feels like. Also, why does it take so long to remove a parked car from the "best track in the world?"

Still, great race from both McLarens, haven't felt this content in a very long time. I hope it sticks around. Norris was superb and I couldn't ask anything more from Piastri, he managed to keep up and fend of far more experienced drivers.

Russel deserved to finish ahead of Blewis, he spent the first half of the race breathing down Keclerk's neck, while his teamate just lucked into the podium. A bit disappointed to see AM drop off somewhat, it feels like Alonso is currently in damage mitigation mode. And Ferrari, I don't even know... Why are they so obsessed with Keclerk? I really don't think he has the stuff of champions. Carlos for all his faults is being fucked over by the team just to try and keep Keclerk happy. This new managing team is making Binotto look good.

There isn't a single comment on their Facebook page that thinks naomi is anything but shit and that anyone other than Brundel should be top.

This grand prix once again has people on twitter bitching it was boring and have no earthly idea what they are watching.

Outside of Max, it feels wide open. Albon has impressed the heck out of me. Can checo hold onto the second spot or isold man Alonso going to steal it. Is Stroll gonna get fired by his dad? McClaren trying to out Ferrari, Ferrari only both for both drivers to do wonderful jobs finishing the race. Congrats to Oscar Piastri for doing in his first season something that Latifi could never do in three.

Granted this is really only one race but if McClaren can build on this and Ferrari keeps imploding, we might see Ferrari in 5th in the constructors series.

It a just my dumb ass opinion but this season has been a blast so far.

I am shocked by the degree that McLaren has improved in just 2 races and they have at least one more significant upgrade to come next race.

They look like they may be back to their 2021 pace at the very least, if not faster.

I don't have any proof for this, but I am wondering if James Vowles has been the reason why Williams are also heading in the right direction?

Dunno what's happened to Aston Martin though, I can imagine Fernando saying to the technical guys, "You let me make a fool of myself saying we would be on the podium every race and really take it to Red Bull. We instead have gone backwards".

Fun fact : If checo doesn t exist, Max would have won every single race lol bar the Baku sprint :semperfidelis:
If Max doesn t exist : Blewis wins in Australia, Alonso in Monaco, Hamilton in Spain ,Alonso in Canada , Leclerc in Austria and Norris in the UK :story:

Aston not knowing how to upgrade their car is a classic since 2019 , Alonso back in the hard carry of mid car where they don t belong to ever be. Still in a better place than Alpine lol
Albon racing to hard the ferrari, why Binotto didn t tell Toto to fuck off when the focus fire nerf TD39 was being discuss is still a mystery for me. If only based Briatore was the TP of Ferrari that year ...

Alpine being mid circa 2016 and saying how every time passing by them is an inspiration never fail to make me laugh. Also Piastri dabbing on Otmar.

Did anyone saw the Alfa romeo?

Clearly this was written with an agenda. He's not perfect (who is?), but Brundle is so far ahead of everyone else on the team in knowledge and assessment abilities it's not even funny. But he's an old, experienced white guy, and you can't have those. I didn't even know Naomi was a driver, everytime I hear her speak she seems utterly clueless.

While technically correct they're being extremely generous in context.

the series she raced in

How'd she do in W series then
SmartSelect_20230710_122847_Brave.jpg

So 16th in the championship with a best race result of 10th. Interestingly under a German license which just adds to my joke that she always claims to be from fucking everywhere since she always says she has some roots at every GP she covers.

Clearly she knows the right people/buzzwords because aside from the Sky F1 gig she got this (before lolbankrupt)
