Australia is more of a nanny state than Azerbaijan. The race officials probably thought "when in Rome...".
 
I know we shit on the camera work because the camera work is shit. But I have to commend the shot to Verstappen's side pod zooming out to Russel and Max arguing was pretty good.
 
Kinda boring race. The SC didn't mix up much except Hamilton and Verstappen getting the short end of the stick. The biggest problem was when Ocon entered the pits and the freaking journalists were standing like retards at the pit entry
 
I don’t get why everyone says Baku is a good circuit. The straight is way too long and the corners with the exception of the castle section are extremely boring.

Unfortunately, it looks like Vegas will be Baku 2.

I remember the early races at Baku being quite exciting because drivers didn't have the measure of it.

I missed the first 50 minutes of today's race. The only moment of excitement for me was Max's near miss with the barrier. The sprint strikes me as increasingly pointless and just seems to be there to pad out the weekend.

Overall, Baku feels like a white elephant. Maybe it needs to be poached.
 
Aston Martin have been the most interesting team radio to listen to. At one point Stroll got in the horn telling his crew to tell Alonso's crew to relay to Alonso he wasn't going to push and was following his lead.

Then later in the race, Alonso is telling his crew to tell Lance settings he thinks would help his race, which I have straight up never heard another driver offering that as team mates are more at rivals to each other than anyone else on the track.

I don't think I can recall two drivers getting along this well, with I would argue, positive results for both.

Well you cursed it for the GP. I don't remember a worse example of camera direction at a GP than today.

Stop with the god damn helicopter camera at street circuits. I want to see the cars going down the straight side by side to see what happens, not glimpse cars in-between trees then stare at the skyline for a bit because the helicopter banked.

That plus the combination of Karun, Crofty, and Ted being utterly fucking terrible and having token darkie who failed at formula W plus old man Hill made every part of this weekend utterly awful even without the race being a snooze fest.

Races where there is a SC or red flag right at the pit stops are always so much worse for it because of the nullification of any meaningful strategy calls.

The smoothbrains on reddit and twitter are all seething at Ocon and Alpine for their obviously dangerous leaving the pit to the last lap rather than idiotic stewarding. Apparently they should have pitted him at the proper time rather than hoping an event which would get them points because they just don't understand the sport yet again.

Yeah, that was pretty wholesome, too bad Stroll strolled the corner not long after that. Is it safe to assume taking the whelp under his wing is part of his signing with Papa Stroll?

I do recall sometime back where Bottas was telling his engineer to relay to Zhou that whoever he was chasing at the time was weak in certain corners.

As for the race... it might have been boring, but any race where Checo wins is a good race as far as I'm concerned.
 
I wonder how much Stroll performance bonus Alonso gets. I could absolutely believe papa Stroll paying a big name like Alonso to drag Stroll Jr up the grid by doing set up, development etc.

Are you comparing Alonso with Bottas? Bottas, even with his current pedo stash, would be uncomfortable with that.
