I dunno why, but Checo winning always fills me with a sort of pure joy isn't in anyone's expense.
He's a driver in the upper echelons of talent but simply unable to string convincing victories together since he just doesn't have that extra bit of pace needed to fight for the championship. He's a Fisichella or Bottas or Frentzen in that respect; capable of winning in the right machinery, but won't in anything short of the best.

A funny sidenote: before the Singapore race Alfa boss Vasseur said in regards to the relaibility of Alfa: "Sometimes we have technical issues sometimes we have engine issues and sometimes we get taken out by Latifi" The guy is a prophet

The prospect of exiting a race as a result of contact by Latifi is mentioned in the same resigned manner that a medieval shepherd might reserve for describing the prospect of wolf attacks on their flock: An unavoidable force of nature.

Really, it's a sign that Zhou is still an obvious rookie in F1, since he forgot the most obvious rule.

No matter where you are on the field, you ALWAYS keep an eye on the Canadians.

It's weird, but I have a feeling I'll miss Latifi next year. His presence gives races that possibility of an "act of God" clause we usually see in contracts and EULAs. We never know when an "act of Latifi" will turn a race on its head.

Ricciardo is also in this category. The other thing that Checo and Ricciardo have in common is that they're both so damn likable.

Hopefully Stroll will step up and fill the void.

Oh look now rumor is RBR is absolutely fine on spending (or at least not massively over). We'll find out tomorrow.

I hope they're under to close off the bloois fans cope and to see Toto have to eat shit over his saber rattling.

I'm already seeing bloois fan boys crying conspiracy over the new rumour that RBR aren't over. That the FIA and RBR are working together to cheat their favourite darky and win back the audience the merc dominance drove away.

I will laugh myself to death if it turns out to be Merc that's over. I will derive a year's worth of joy from watching Toto Wolff eat shit live and in public.

Looking back on this season, I can confidently say it has not been as competitive as 2021, even if there is no real "backmarker" team anymore like there was with Alfa and Haas.
The midfield is fighting gloriously, with AM, AT, Alpine, Alfa, McLaren and when they aren't ratfucking Mick or K-Mag doesn't smash into another car, Haas fighting for points. Even Williams has done well for itself.

But the front-runners are PAINFULLY leaps and bounds above the rest of the field. Barring Imola, only three teams have been on the podium this year. Last year it was 8. 5 teams won a race; this year it has been just Red Bull and Ferrari (and hopefully it stays that way).

Blooois is off crying about muh 2021 again.

Maybe they just run more efficiently, maybe they don't spend half their budget on diversity nonsense. Who knows. Either way "we couldn't do what they did" isn't the flex you think it is.

Also prepare for another "FIA cucks due to weather" saga this weekend

Masi returns to Supercars paddock at Bathurst

Thursday 6th October, 2022 - 11:15am
[ original | archive ]

Michael Masi has made a return to the Supercars paddock at this weekend’s Repco Bathurst 1000.

The former Formula 1 race director was recently appointed Chair of the Supercars Commission, taking over the role from Neil Crompton.

It marks Masi’s first time at Bathurst since the Great Race of 2018 and his first Supercars event since the Adelaide 500 of 2019.

Following that, he stepped in as F1 race director after the sudden passing of Charlie Whiting at that year’s Australian Grand Prix.

Masi departed the FIA in July in the wake of the controversial title-deciding Abu Dhabi Grand Prix at the end of last year’s F1 season.

He then returned to Australia, before being appointed Chair of the Supercars Commission on September 1.
Masi also recently picked up a role on the South Australian Motor Sport Board.

Opening practice for the Repco Supercars Championship at Mount Panorama is currently underway.

I haven't found any Bathurst 1000 streams yet, but I'm guessing there'd be one out there somewhere (the race starts on Sunday at 11:15 Sydney time).

Flavio is unhappy about the Perez penalty.

SmartSelect_20221006-144949_Chrome.jpg

Flavio accusing someone of cheating at Singapore is the definition of the pot calling the kettle black.

As for what he thinks the cheat was. He was unhappy they waited til after the race (as I think we all were) but decided that waiting was to see the gap and then decide the penalty so Perez still won rather than applying a penalty during the race. His reasoning is then if they had given a 5 second penalty during the race then Leclerc would have stayed in that gap and won (though I doubt it since why would Leclerc deliberately fall 7 seconds back, he couldn't keep up with perez).

Yeah Leclerc himself stated he made a few mistakes and he had to keep the car on the street. I assume his tyres gave up early while it took Perez some time to get his fired up plus adapting to the issues with the engine

I komda hope Max wins it in Japan because Honda but at the same time hoped the spasing out about unconfirmed rumors, that the FIA had to come out and say there was no leaked data, would have been settled before the championship decider.

Almost all the outlets are already asterisksing the championship if Max wins this weekend and the bloosis Reddit brigade are still crying about how they have to give bloois the 21 championship now (and dsq Max from this one).

Here's a selection of exerts from the motorsport media about this weekend

I don't normally agree with redditors but this guy is spot on, it's all getting so tiresome. The sport is just no longer about the sport.

Goddamn, Latifi keeps giving me reasons to miss him next year. The car "drove" him into a runoff instead of going to the pit entrance. He didn't forget the track at all. I loled.
