Aston Martin's new wind tunnel doesn't get completed till some time in 2023, so it won't be till the 2024 car that the full effect of this is felt.

I bet a Make-A-Wish kid could run Ferrari better than they're doing right now.
It could give better calls from pitstop through a Ouija-board.
It really feels like they've dumbed everything the fuck down. They've gone from explaining things to adults who may not know the sport to trying to explain everything like the audience is 5.

They miss so much deeper analysis of events because they're too busy explaining how a car has wheels, how the white line is the outer edge of the track, or commenting on a ferrari plan radio message that they don't know the meaning of anyway.
Ferrari Team Radio: "Charles, we're going with Plan C."
Crofty, taking a short break from fellating King Louie: "PLAN C?! What happened to Plans A and B?! :smug:"

As I like to point out, Crofty and Brundle get so much shit blatantly wrong, ignore important stuff going on in the background and I oftentimes find myself better informed than they are, even though I literally only go by the shitty direction and the even worse info-tables.

Like, there's a yellow flag indicated on screen, but Crofty and Brundle are too busy giving Lewis a reach-around to comment on that. You see the name of a certain driver tumble down the list and you know that this driver was involved. After 10 seconds or so, Crofty points out the yellow flag, a mere fraction of a second before we see footage of that car... but Crofty then has to make wild guesses who it might be, sometimes even getting the team wrong.

Their data appearently showed the hards being the best tyre to start on, but both drivers complained and the team listened to their feedback instead of solely relying on data. That's what you have to do to win and that's why ferrari won't.
It's the regular way how Ferrari does things.

Ferrari needs to come up with a strategy or design a new car, their drivers give them suggestions and feedback using available data and experience, some pasta-additced Italian dickwad goes "No-a, I-a know-a better-a than-a these drivers-a-a", then just shits out something and tells the drivers to deal with it.
Alpine are a decent midfield car alongside Mclaren, so why on earth does he want to downgrade to the shaky at the best of times Aston Martin?
Maybe he had no other choice, maybe Alpine already told him that they wanted to bring in someone else? I dunno, going to AM should be a well-paid move, cause that team isn't going to go anywhere and where it'll go, it won't go there fast either.

Apparently according to to team it was a deal made over an half hour conversation after Vettel announced his retirement because Alonso believes in the project so much. Take that one with a pinch of salt though.

Either Alonso knew something about Alpine's plans for the future or it really did happen in 30 minutes and the number was impossible to refuse. I can't imagine Alonso being short of a few quid but going from comfortable for his retirement to fucking rolling in it why not. I can't see Stroll and the Saudis being short a few bob.

Probably both. You don't hire someone like Piastri as a reserve driver unless you have plans for him, and Alonso knows he isn't getting any younger. Then there's Stroll the Elder spending like a drunken sailor to buy the best babysitters money can buy. First Seb, now Alonso.

100% agree they've dumbed it down.

It's a shame, because one hand I want more people to get into F1 and not gatekeep them away with "complicated" technical and rule knowledge on the other hand there's just so much nuance to the sport that you can't just skip over it and which even enhances the experience imo.

The mainstream F1 discussion is already dominated by braindead hot takes and unnecessary drama and it will get even worse if F1 continues to lure fans in with promises of that kind of drama, crashes and personal rivalries.

They are trying to pander to the US sports/racing fans who basically need the crashes and drama to stay entertained. Nascar has the opposite problem where it became very popular in the 90s and early 2000s because it was a mix of wwe drama and racing where people intentionally wrecked other drivers now they are trying to clean it up and make it family friendly.

LOL at Alpine having a Ferrari* moment.

Alonso signs with AM on 1st of Aug, this is fine Piastri can have the seat right?

Well now McLaren are sniffing all over him and possibly have a pre-contract.

* actually a McLaren 2006 problem, where Kimi delayed telling them about his Ferrari move till the very last minute, which is what led to Hamilton getting the seat as everyone else had a contract.

Logan Sergeant is getting an FP1 outing with Williams in Austin.

Between that and Palou in Indycar, it's McLaren's year to fuck around, isn't it?

It's possible since Piastri is also under contract with mclaren as their reserve driver. Alpine agreed it with McLaren when Ricciardo was out with the coof in the hopes it would get him a run out.

Apparently they were working on an extension for Alonso to stay in the car.

He's seemingly pulled a Ricciardo, seemingly set on staying with the team then announcing a change at the last second surprising even the team.

Sounds like Piastri already has his signature on a contract. The "I will not be driving for alpine next year" is pretty bold and definitely bridge burning as a statement.

Ricciardo must be feeling a bit uncomfortable at the moment with all of this.

Looks like Alpine screwed themselves on the deadlines.

But then it seems Piastri wasn't part of Alpines 2023 plans with them trying to renew Alonso.

Zhou is part of the Alpine driver academy and hasn't got a 2023 contract renewal yet, are Alfa about to do out a driver? If so then Schumacher would seem the best fit as Ferrari junior and no 2023 contract. This crazy season is ridiculous already.

Best occurance ever would be Toto swooped in signed Piastri and is about to yeet hambone now his usefulness has expired.
