Probably mentally checked out as far as I can tell. He's over 40, he's most likely at the fuck-it-I'm-getting-paid stage of his career.Alpine are a decent midfield car alongside Mclaren, so why on earth does he want to downgrade to the shaky at the best of times Aston Martin?
It could give better calls from pitstop through a Ouija-board.I bet a Make-A-Wish kid could run Ferrari better than they're doing right now.
Ferrari Team Radio: "Charles, we're going with Plan C."It really feels like they've dumbed everything the fuck down. They've gone from explaining things to adults who may not know the sport to trying to explain everything like the audience is 5.
They miss so much deeper analysis of events because they're too busy explaining how a car has wheels, how the white line is the outer edge of the track, or commenting on a ferrari plan radio message that they don't know the meaning of anyway.
"It's the regular way how Ferrari does things.Their data appearently showed the hards being the best tyre to start on, but both drivers complained and the team listened to their feedback instead of solely relying on data. That's what you have to do to win and that's why ferrari won't.
Maybe he had no other choice, maybe Alpine already told him that they wanted to bring in someone else? I dunno, going to AM should be a well-paid move, cause that team isn't going to go anywhere and where it'll go, it won't go there fast either.Alpine are a decent midfield car alongside Mclaren, so why on earth does he want to downgrade to the shaky at the best of times Aston Martin?
inb4 he retires next year

Probably both. You don't hire someone like Piastri as a reserve driver unless you have plans for him, and Alonso knows he isn't getting any younger. Then there's Stroll the Elder spending like a drunken sailor to buy the best babysitters money can buy. First Seb, now Alonso.Either Alonso knew something about Alpine's plans for the future or it really did happen in 30 minutes and the number was impossible to refuse.
100% agree they've dumbed it down.
It's a shame, because one hand I want more people to get into F1 and not gatekeep them away with "complicated" technical and rule knowledge on the other hand there's just so much nuance to the sport that you can't just skip over it and which even enhances the experience imo.
The mainstream F1 discussion is already dominated by braindead hot takes and unnecessary drama and it will get even worse if F1 continues to lure fans in with promises of that kind of drama, crashes and personal rivalries.
I like how the title is “How F1 drivers turn really fast” and the thumbnail is a picture of the slowest corner in the calendar.Vox made an F1 video...

Between that and Palou in Indycar, it's McLaren's year to fuck around, isn't it?LOL at Alpine having a Ferrari* moment.
Alonso signs with AM on 1st of Aug, this is fine Piastri can have the seat right?
Well now McLaren are sniffing all over him and possibly have a pre-contract.
* actually a McLaren 2006 problem, where Kimi delayed telling them about his Ferrari move till the very last minute, which is what led to Hamilton getting the seat as everyone else had a contract.
Logan Sergeant is getting an FP1 outing with Williams in Austin.

The American driver will take over Nicholas Latifi’s FW44 for the 60-minute session which will see him tasked with getting the car set up for the remainder of the weekend and gaining crucial data

I know Liberty is dreaming about Americans in F1, but will putting one in a shitbox really make people care? If he has no path to a better car, he's probably fucking off to the Indy 500 pretty quickly.Don't give me hope
Holy shit, just like Palou. This isn't silly season anymore, this is chaos season!
Kinda feels like he might not have just one team asking him to drive for them.
