Watched the race with my daughter and her man again. LOL on Willy. My daughter said out loud 3 or 4 times what the fuck when Willy was speaking. She asked if he was retarded or had a head injury. HAHA I said nah, he just ran over and killed a marshall on the track 30 years ago and is a broken man. Yeah, that post race interview was really weird.
The race looked like a parade for most part starting out and the gap between cars were again more than a couple of second save for a handful of cars. The SC was a long time coming but finally reset it a bit. Why Russell and Perez didn't take softs I don't know. Given that there would be 3 or 4 laps under SC, they would have only had to do a dozen or so laps to end. Ocon took them at least, but sadly, the gaps grew again after the restart and not much action was had. Few passes, but if the track surface was better, it may have produced more action.
Sad to see Seb/Mick incident, but out of any two drivers crashing, those would be the 2 that would not generate any animosity. I am sure they both feel bad especially given they were on for points. And Albon again with a point. I wasn't sure how well he would do on his return, especially in a Williams, but he is starting to look like he should be upgraded to a better team if he keeps this up. No, not RB! But he deserves better than the Williams (unless they are staring to get the car better, which is possible) and he is certainly destroying Latifi. Not a hard job for sure, but he is pretty much making him look seriously bad. Sooner he is gone the better. Alex and Piastri would be an interesting match.
Haas should have scored points, not sure what happened to Mag, but he fell off hard. And Bottas. Man, that sucked to let both Mercs by. But he certainly to me is the best of the rest consistently and assuming Merc stay ahead of him he should get 7th in the WDC this year. Its nice to see Alfa looking like 4th best car, hope it keeps up. How would they be if Kimi didn't retire? Zhou is like Tsu last year. Still too early to fully write him off. Tsu is looking much better this year, even has a good lead over Gasly in points.
As for Lewis. Happy to see his struggles. He has that tattoo, "Still I Rise". Welll, not this year. If anything, we are seeing him slowly cracking. George is not only a great driver. He is fucking smart and contributes greatly to the team on a mental level. I hope he can continue finishing ahead of Lewis for the next couple of races. The more he does it, the more Ham is going to get salty and look a fool. And with luck, some of the brainwashed will start seeing clarity and realize that there is no excuse to be made when his teammate is consistently driving better. Lewis I believe is now over 70 points behind Leclerc. Unless the drivers/teams ahead of him really fuck up and/or Merc get their act together and he wins next 8 races in a row, he isn't going to win the title this year. Not something I thought I'd say after 5 races! I figured I'd do it after Spain as I said previously! LOL But yeah, it would really be an epic reversal of fortune if at end of this year Lewis wins his 8th. (Also, I think I read a headline day or two ago that seemed to intimate that Lewis was still going to wear the nose ring even when dispensation is over? I hope so and the FIA bans him from racing)
Finally, as a Canadian, I would be remiss to not say Salut Gilles and RIP. Hard to believe its been 40 years man. I vaguely recall his death, I was in my early teen years when it happened and wasn't heavy into F1 at that time, knew about it from ABC Wide World of Sports, but back then we only had 7 TV channels and no social media, so it was only the sports pages of newspapers where I would read about events at an F1 race on Monday. I do remember seeing the video of his funeral with Pierre Trudeau escorting his wife and Jacques and Scheckter giving the eulogy. It wasn't until I started getting heavy into F1 5 or so years after he died that I learned more about Gilles and why he is so revered. Anyway, here are a couple of videos in tribute to the man. He really was a driver on a different level and fate denied us what might have been had he raced another 5 years.
>I don't have the information to make a decision
But somehow Russel can and has a fucking gameplan worked out for his tires?
Edit: Also they have to be ready to dump him right? Russel has shown him up to be an technically illiterate brat who is competent at driving but carried by vehicles meaning if the vehicles aren't top tier he can't compete. I can't imagine he has much good input on the car design, hell he probably even holds it back with his shitty unfounded opinions that he likes to spew as facts.
It'd be nice if Merc became "woke" and turfed him indeed! LOL But he and Toto are butt buddies (although friction seems to be developing) and remember his colour. So Merc prob wants to avoid being called honky racists for getting rid of him.
Besides that, I think it is better to let him continue to look bad and hopefully get further decimated by George. That will produce more crying and content and hopefully tarnish his "legacy" a bit. It will also be fun watching the pundits who view him like he is Allah to continue to try and spin the narrative in the face of insurmountable evidence that he simply can't handle a bad car and his young teammate can.
In a way, it is too bad Merc aren't dominating as was previously the case, solely for the fact that it would be nice to see if George would be consistently beating Lewis. In other words, would George be able to do same if they were top team with best car, or is George just more experienced in dealing with a bad car? A question we will never have answered, unless as I said, Merc somehow overtakes Fer and RB and become the best car.
