True... I suspect that racing F1 at Bathurst would be like trying to race F1 at Laguna Seca, only a bit more hilly.

Fun fact: Bathurst is a street circuit. When there isn't any racing on, it's a public road with a speed limit of 60km/h (35mph). There are houses around the track.

And my buddy who lived there said it's intensely patrolled because hooners having a go are easy pickings.

living by at Bathurst would be awesome, so would living by Imola or Monaco
 
In other news, this week completes 20 years of one of the most scandalous events in Formula One history: The 2002 Austrian Grand Prix. Or better yet, its finale.

James Allen and Mark Blundell calling the event.

How we heard it in Brazil. "Not today! Yes today..." as the narrator said when they crossed the finish line became quite the meme.

Down here, those that didn't turn away after Senna's death gave up on Formula One completely on this day.

Even as a Schumacher fan, I was furious. Entirely unnecessary and it took away a victory from Barichello, who earned and deserved it so much.
That's not the way how anyone should win a race. Team orders should at best be telling a driver not to overtake, but telling a driver to let the other pass should be forbidden.

To this day, I think it would have been hilarious if Schumacher had stopped his car right before the finishing line in protest of this team order. But alas, you wouldn't become champion with such an attitude and I doubt that Schumacher had much time or opprtunity to really think about it. He might have realized how hollow and shameful it is to win this way after it had already happened.
His behaviour on the podium made it clear he was uncomfortable.
 
That moment was the whole reason Team Orders became banned for quite a while and they had to develop euphemisms like "Fernando is faster than you" to do the same job. And for people who hated Schumacher back then like me; absolutely made Ferrari a team that only cares about victories at all costs, fuck everyone else and especially fuck the audience who wants to see good people win. Of course, this was back when we Finns had our own superstars to look up to and this guy was the big baddie to beat for Häkkinen and Räikkönen.
 
I watched some of the live streams. And Leclerc was actually one of the harmless one. There was one driver who nailed his Arrows A4 directly into the wall. Or the traffic jam in the older car segment was really funny. Btw that particular race was won by Claudia Hürtgen in a Ferrari.
 
Does that mean Leclerc has fulfilled his annual Monaco-crash quota and will be able to finish his home grand prix for a change?

I didn't like Schumi at the time, but even I could see that he was not a happy camper on the podium after that stunt from Ferrari. One of the main reasons I disliked Todd and Brawn. It really was completely unnecessary.
