Don't forget ham has never been able to extract performance out of a less than perfect car. He drowned against Button when McLaren were on their downswing before moving to Merc.

The Saudi debacle is going to end up with FOM getting their shit pushed in with the constant forcing of shithole races.

Also obligatory crossover meme.

For once, Hamilton can actually show us his prowess in a less powerful car. I'm not yet saying he's showing his poor skills, maybe he'll get the hang of the car and actually surprise us with decent results, but if he does end up being bested by Russel, his reputation as a driver would most likely start to inflate to the squeaky, whiny sound of his dicksuckers crying "It's the caaaaar's faaaaauuuuult BAAAAAAAAWWWWWW" :story:

The thing is, I'd laugh my ass off if F1 drivers said they don't wanna race in a certain nation, FIA ignores them and then we end up with a race where everyone drives exactly one slow lap in Pit-lane mode and then retires the car citing engine issues before the first lap finishes.

Sorry for the double post, but I just ruined my keyboard. Check out this video on the Jeddah/Saudi-Barbaria-controversy:

The video is timestamped to a point where it quotes something George Russel said in his function as director of the grand prix driver's association... and just check out the image they picked to play during that segment.

It's literally this meme:

Only with Hamilton instead of an attention-seeking self-enarmored teenage girl... same thing, now that I really think about it.

Gee, there's a shock. The Race is well known for working Hambone's balls whilst Sky F1 works the shaft and the head. I wish they'd spin off their non-F1 content to a second channel, as that's actually quite good.

Course revealed tonight for the Vegas GP, to be run on a Saturday night in November 2023.

I'm not enough of an enthusiast to judge it as a race course, but it's sure as hell going to be compelling television. Great views of the course if you get a room on the right side of a lot of the Strip hotels, too.

...

Also looks like we're back to the "it's all the team's fault, I'm perfect in everyway" Hamilton we always get when he doesn't just walk it.

I didn't expect anything less from this overrated chauffeur. If anything, I'd say this year we're getting a pretty clear indication that Bottas was better than Merc let him.

Though I must express disappointment at Max as well, he was starting to sound a bit like Toto in the final laps. If McLaren can't get their shit together I'm leaning towards wanting Ferrari (either driver is fine by me) to take it.

PS: And god damn at Alonso, never really was a fan of him but he's winning me over since he's so old compared to the rest and still drives like the best of them. I'm starting to feel that his championship record underates him severely compared to other drivers.

So what do we all think about this track anyway? I'm glad it's not another literal car park, but it feels pretty underwhelming, even with how little they really had to work with. I know that #WeRaceAsMoney but it definitely seems made to get as many bookings in hotels overlooking the strip as possible.

I imagine it'll make for a fine enough track to look at, but I'd be surprised if we see any particularly hard racing on it, but I'm not exactly an authority on courses.

His championships were up against Schumacher in a relatively competitive ferrari so he can definately go toe to toe with with greats.

When he left Renault for McLaren they gave him a competitive car, but then brought in some whiney bitch boy rookie they had funded through the junior formulas to be his team mate and favored him over the reigning World champion. That fucked up Alonso's ability to go up against Raikkonen in the Ferrari who had a supportive team mate backing him up.

After that bullshit he ripped up a multiyear deal to go back to Renault who gave him a shit car and had to fix a race to get him a win.

After a few years in that midfield car he moved over to McLaren after whiney bitch boy left to help build the Honda hybrid partnership and yeah GP2 engine.

That obviously put him off the sport so he went and bossed some other motorsports before coming back for this new generation.

The guy is fast, talented and while not likable at first has become more so as time has gone on. His on paper record massively downplays his abilities behind the wheel.

If you want a demonstration of his ability just look at that hold up job in Hungary to help Ocon win the race. His car should not have been able to hold up that merc as long as he did but he pulled it off.

It looks like another soulless street track put in because murican owners want F1 to be a murican sport so need more races there. It's going to be the standard 3 DRS zones with no real memorable corners or features other than car behind goes fast down straight and drives past car in front.

Alonso might be one of those drivers that show us that the number of titles aren't as important in terms of indicating how good they were.
Massa was a beast who unfortunately was world champion for only 30 seconds. I've heard a lot of people say that Kubica was also a great driver that just never lucked into the right circumstances to get a title.
That looks horrid. They might as well race in the Shuto Highway Wangan Midnight Style.
Fuck me. Put a hairpin on each end and I'll buy tickets to watch that race every year, that sounds absolutely amazing.

Yeah, there are top tier players in many sports that just don't get their crown, but they were among the best.

In Chess, they had this guy Paul Keres, who could beat the best of his time, but unfortunately never won a world title. He was called "The Eternal Second" for this reason.

Kubica was definitely heading that way until his massive smash in Canada 2007 which definitely took something out of him (similar to that suspension spring effectively ruining Massa)

Then he had the rally crash I'm 2011 which effectively ended his F1 career

Just the sheer mental and physical fortitude to come back from the injuries sustained in that and get back into F1 is so impressive.

Following that some teams have started putting clauses about other competitions in driver's contracts. Raikkonen being stopped from snowmobile racing while at ferrari for example.

No kidding, when I watch his 2007 crash, I always flinch when he hits the wall and his entire car desintegrates into fist-sized chunks, even though I know he survived it comparatively unharmed. When the car grinds to a halt, you can literally see his feet stick out the front.

It really blows my mind that after such a crash, he could leave the hospital within less than 24 hours.

It was a massive crash. He was knocked out in it (unsurprisingly) and in a 2020 interview described it as hands down the worst crash of his career including the rally crash.

Kubica coming out of that crash nearly unharmed is as much of a miracle as Grosjean's crash in 2020. A million things could have been slightly different and every single little change might have meant his death. If, for instance, had the car banked to a side or flipped completely or had it actually gone over that wall, I have little doubt it would have meant a much worse outcome.
