That has to be gossip pulled from thin air. No way in hell is Hamilton genuinely contemplating leaving the sport. His reputation as a driver could flip amongst the general public from "best driver in the world" to "world's biggest pissy-pants dramaqueen" with such a petty move. If he ragequits, perception might change to the one we have in this thread: A bit of an ass, giant ego, competent driver - but the car did the heavy lifting all these years.

The salt from his simps would be grade AAA. This is never gonna happen and if it did, I know I have been run over by a car or something and I'm in a feverdream-filled coma.

Awesome to see another engine manifacturer joins F1. That bit is quite interesting... might they be trying to work towards cooperating with RB?

Anyone going into F1 must know that getting into that sport is going to be a furnace for money for at least half a decade and even then you've merely crawled out of the money-furnace and into the money-pyre. It takes a lot of time to make an engine that's worth a damn, especially given the regulations it must fulfill, and then it takes longer still to get any money out of the sport ... you simply won't just plop that thing together in a year or two and rake in cash and trophies.

But if they are committed, that could be fucking cool in the long run.

there is literally no way hamilton retires now. He's still in the top two drivers in f1, he's got the mercedes contract in hand, no noticable decline in performance. And no, I don't buy toto's claim that he and lewis are genuinely distraught over this. You guys withdrew your appeals, lewis even asked you guys to withdraw your protests the day of, to give some credit to the guy. That and the lewis retiring remarks are nothing but drama to stir the pot.

(Or maybe I'm trying to jinx this as hard as I can).

Credit where it's due. Hambone still has (just) enough self-awareness to know when he is comprehensively beaten. He's still a petulant twat, but I wonder if he would have been less petulant had Toto not egged him on.

I wouldn't be at all surprised if snubbing the FIA presentation was Toto's idea.

You're right, toto is definitely acting up way more than I was expecting over this whole ordeal. He was out on zoom calls looking like the new villain in "No Time to Die" almost a week after the fact. Lewis is probably trying to move on, and lay low on social media until the next big event comes around like testing.

3rd edit: also, didn't toto start the lewis retiring rumors? lol
 
Audi will have a bit of pressure on them as the 3rd German engine builder to enter F1 in the last 25yrs or so, as both Mercedes & BMW have had long periods where they undoubtedly had the best engine. Will Audi match them, or end up looking 2nd rate compared to their German cousins, by the time their F1 journey comes to an end?
 
I dont have anything of substance to add to speculation on just how bunched Toto's panties are, I just have this funny bit of trivia.

Hey if anyone knows how to cheat their way through scrutineering it would be the VAG group so I'm sure they'll make a beast.
 
I saw a load of people sending "not good enough to be in F1" and "what sort of shit driver crashes there". The first you could argue but you still have to get the super license points so pay driver or not he's earnt the chance to get to F1. The latter ignores Kimi hit pretty much the same place in practice and no one is going to claim Kimi is a shit driver (or at least no one with any knowledge of F1 at least).

I'd love to see one of these armchair experts attempt to drive an F1 car around the Abu Dhabi circuit (or any F1 circuit for that matter) without binning it.
 
Those people are so blind to reality, they just saw the picture of latifi in the wall and didn't notice he was in a tight battle with mick earlier in the lap which fucked up his tyres. I also like that they think latifi intentionally crashed...and waited until lap 54, which left lewis fans to whine and bitch about the ending of the race being farcical, instead of binning it earlier and letting michael unlap all the lapped cars without controversy.

Big news for Mick, alongside his Haas drive he's also now co-reserve ferrari driver.

If I were Sainz I would be considering my 2023 options well. He's out of contract at the end of 2022 and all the amazing performances in the world don't help when ferrari has a plan.

If Hambone retires at the end of the 2022 season, Mercedes could do a lot worse than pick Carlos up for 2023. That said, I could see George throwing a massive tantrum if Uncle Toto signed up a second driver that is both a proven performer and highly competitive.

I get the impression the next up to the Mercedes plate would be Nyck de Vries, Toto can't stop himself publicly gargling his balls. An all Dutch champioship run off would be great though, see if you can actually see any cars through the orange smoke.

Sainz vs Max in the top teams would be great though, go back to the old Toro Roso rivalry which was apparently a bit heated at time and didn't end on the best terms (hence Sainz getting out to go to Renault with 4 races still to go in 2017).

I hope Sainz can keep himself in a top seat, he's put in some great drives this season with Ferrari and I'd hate to see him left out in the cold because the powers that be planned around him.

I don't think it was an accident they gave him a 2 year contract and agreed with Haas to give Mick a 2 year contract. From day 1 he very much looked like a placeholder while Mick settles into F1 which for a driver of his ability (and likability) is terrible. Him beating Charles in the standings probably wasn't in their plans though.

This season has taken a bit of the shine of Charles for me, yeah he got a couple of poles but overall it was a pretty meh season where his teammate was making the big waves. Though I'm sure he'll come back to form if ferrari can deliver a decent car for him.

Still I would be taking this and next year as my time to show I can play with the big boys and hope to catch someone's eye for 2023 if I were him.

Well, those people aren't professional F1 drivers. It's like saying "unless you are a Michelin 5 Star cook you can't criticise Jack Scalfani's cooking" or "unless you can shove an entire lamppost down your throat, you can't criticise Chuck Wendig's sucking up to Disney".

A better comparison would be to point out that every driver on the grid has a "sudden loss of talent" moment sooner or later. Vettel has plenty. Hamilton has plenty. Schumacher had plenty.
We've seen far more accomplished pilots commit far more ridiculous blunders than Latifi being to early on the gas when his tyres are a bit dusty.
