With a (questionable) W from James Drake, how would you rate season 5 of Fishtank?

  • 1 Star — Absolute disaster. Unwatchable, boring, production fucked it up bad, the fish were lame

The only shred of hope I have relies on Luke being a key part of Fishtank moving forward. Even then, it won’t be the same.

Edit: Is the ppv mirror not working anymore? I was hoping that would be a way to work around the paywall.

Luke could come off as a straight man and gradually hassle the fish. But he's been resigned to his role as Sam's groyper Andy Richter. Episode 1 of Sam Hyde show was good I guess but every episode since has felt forced and sucks ass content wise in spite of the high production value and makes me wish it hadn't gone so viral. Saying Sam doesn't like fucking with retards is crazy because that was like half the skits in WP2. I wonder if Wecks crash out in S4 hit too close to home for him. All i know is I hope the midlife crisis arc ends soon. PSC is great

They are ~5 hour streams and the first 3 hours is free on YouTube. If 3 hours isn't enough to bring some attention and build hype, then 5 wouldn't be either.

The obvious point of the split is to get people to go to the site, make accounts, and sign up for the season pass. Each of those 3 steps is friction that a viewer has to overcome to start paying FIshTankLive some money, and once those steps has been overcome it's much easier for the viewer to give money. It completely makes sense, and is the right move to do, for Jet to take every opportunity to get new viewers to make accounts leading up to the season.
 
A bigger issue is they don't seem to promoting the site-only stream tonight. Down to about half of what it was last nigh on the site. Can't even make a post on their twitter account.

It's not like Sam is fantastic anyway, but he was a needed source of authority. Sam's biggest flaw imo was that if he wasn't feeling it for the day, he would bring the show down with him. So long as he was energetic and clearly passionate about what he was doing, the show would thrive. But you can't have a host who is checked out. A major problem with every season is the line between contestant and production fading and the fish growing disinterested because of that. Sam was sometimes a catalyst towards this bad outcome.

I think a lot of Fish, with a few exceptions, subconsciously look to the host as a behavior gauge. If the host is high energy and selling gaslights the fish will follow his direction, now more likely to become active without as much prodding. But the moment Sam stops caring it destroys any illusion of authority prod has, and the fish just stop caring as well. If prod fails to maintain their illusion of authority the show breaks and content stalls.

Sam had problems maintaining his emotions. So the show has a chance to upgrade right now to a more consistently stable host. Not sure if they're competent enough though.
 
Jace would be superior to sam as a fishtank host imo, but sadly he will probally say no. Honestly i can't think of a good possibility either unless jet throws in some wild card we don't known yet, even alex stein is too boomer conservative for the show and probally would turn fishtank political in a really annoying and unfunny way, S1 was nearly completely apolitical until he appeared and spouted a bunch of references that aged like spoiled milk. Shit i just thought something, is Matan Even 18 yet? cause if he is, he would unironically be an interesting choice

I think something fucked up the Famous House arc too early, and that ruined all of Sam's desire to put on a good show, and his interest in it as well. Idk what it was, but I'd guess it's something Jet did.

If you bought it you still have the game. If a game gets removed from the store but you already have it, you can still install it and play it.

Isn’t it a multiplayer game? Do they still provide authentication services for games that have been taken down?
