With a (questionable) W from James Drake, how would you rate season 5 of Fishtank?

  • 1 Star — Absolute disaster. Unwatchable, boring, production fucked it up bad, the fish were lame

    Votes: 57 7.4%
  • 2 Stars — Pretty bad. Some funny moments, dragged, too many vibe repair days. Barely worth checking.

    Votes: 89 11.5%
  • 3 Stars — Average. Solid entertainment in spots, some good chaos and crashouts, but nothing special

    Votes: 176 22.7%
  • 4 Stars — Really good. Lots of hilarious moments, strong fish personalities, solid content and vibes

    Votes: 406 52.4%
  • 5 Stars — Peak Fishtank / Masterpiece. Non-stop insanity, legendary fish and production, pure chaos

    Votes: 47 6.1%

all in all S4 was a disaster and not a beautifull/fun one like S2, hope they do something cooler next time. i wish they would do more elaborate/surreal decor like they did for S2 i miss those cameras and the look of that house so much. S3's house wasn't bad either though the camera placement was bad. though i wish they had decorated it more.

Also another spicy take that is probally gonna bring the trashcans out but i don't care: eliminations don't fit fishtank at all, if the show wants to be less like big brother and more its own thing it should phase them out for a "whoever survives until the end" mode, where the only way to get "eliminated" is doing something banned/quitting or something funny like the "kick them out the door" thing from S4 (only thing from the season i genuinely liked production-wise). My rationale for this is simple: fishtank is much more based around content and being funny/a menace to others than other big brother type reality shows, and it would reward funny and interesting fish as opposed to generic "player" fish who can be boring (ie. TJ or Josie). at the end there would be some sort of challenge gauntlet like S2 or some mega challenge (like S3) with the winner being the winner of this final challenge/challenge gauntlet.

I'd love to say I have morals, but I have to confess that my FTL withdrawals are so bad that I probably even watch a Bitchtank 2 at this point.

Ben's condescending ineffectual appeasement was probably one of the few entertaining things production did that season.
I liked season 4 for what it was. It didn't have enough of it's own identity at times, but it definitely had at least some characteristic moments. Ben backrubs as well as his weird superhero underwear thing were just absolutely kino!
I could not stop laughing when he tried to backrub Rachel's boyfriend.

Oh wow! That has never been talked about in this thread ever! What an interesting take!
Do you also have takes about Brandon Hiltons elimination, or whether or not Tayleigh was a good contestant in season 2?

Seth is crossdressing now, it begins.

didn't known it was a popular take here, i just come here to browse the fishtank news, most of the discussions are too autistic to me
It’s just controversial. Getting rid of eliminations entirely is a more radical view for sure. Eliminations come with their flaws, but then again we’ve never had a season where the best fish were preserved till the end through rational eliminations from production. I think if prod knew who to prioritize for elims and to rig things properly the show would be fine.

I think I rate it above Season 2 just because it fell apart and ended rather than fell apart and kept running for two more weeks. It was a step down from Season 3 for sure, but the show itself wasn't terrible. Rachel, Freddy, Drench and Aryeh were all good content. Daniel, Jin, Seth, and Angie had moments(even if it just being a fucking punching bag in the candy contest). The issues with Season 4 are largely outside of the content of the show, namely pissing off the local government and thinking they'd get away with it. Even after having to abandon the first house, the fallout bunker set up with schitzo lore dumps obviously written by Jan were keeping me engaged.

if they got rid of eliminations they wouldn't need to rig at all to not make the viewers mad, instead they should prioritize weird and funny behaviour by giving (minor) rewards for content or creative solutions to problems in challenges.
If they took eliminations seriously people like burt and jimmy would be out in the first week and then it wouldn't be fishtank at all, just a slightly more edgy big brother, wich is exactly what they should avoid.

There is obviously a 'content is king' aspect to everything. Eliminations and the guise of having a 'real' competition is all bullshit and I think any formal rules are fundamentally unserious to production, anything can and will be uprooted for 'content'.
So elimination and votes are not rulesets nor a serious framework for the show, it is a narrative device that moves people around and creates situations for a while, until it doesn't feel like 'content' anymore and things shift.

It is a true strength the show has, to not be so rigid.

On Page-4214 along with other pages, @anliteralidiot talks about how Jon’s actions and everything he does are “gay,” claiming that Jon denies being gay while supposedly not understanding how gay he looks. Essentially, this argument is complete nonsense and relies entirely on the commenter’s own assumptions about what being gay or bisexual means.
Counterpoint:

i frankly do not trust anything eggy says about sam hyde because they had weird beef on their respective 8ch boards back in the day. sam had /mde/ and eggy had some other board.
/mde/ would frequently raid eggy's threads/board and accuse him of being a tranny-fucker(true) and SSRI-shill(also true but ngl the dude probably needs to be on SSRIs)
sam even held a poster contest on the board for World Peace and pretty much all of the posters featured gross edits of eggy, users of his board would go hang them up in public.

eggy took this waaaay more seriously than he should've and vehemently hates anything related to sam now, even if he won't admit it openly.
he also believes MDE people "suppress him" and thinks he would be famous for his slop incelcore rap if they didn't "ruin his reputation"

has compared himself to BONES and thinks BONES is famous because he got the MDE endorsement(true of Joeyy, but BONES was already big before he met the MDE guys and Nick & Charls are both into that strain of OG soundcloud rap, eggy is just legitimately delusional)
i do think jet's probably a pedo or at least a sex pest tho.

Jon gay.

And I didn't say bi. I said gay.
Jon is as gay as springtime, and he's in denial.

I've met Jerks Of Niggas (Jon)
I can safely say, in the presence of my two female friends, Jon only wanted to hug and talk to me lol

He was just admiring your masculine physique while resisting the temptation of the eternal woman, as all terminally online Christian LARPers do.
truth nvke: making a friend with a nice fizeek is way more valuable than talking to a hole.

your bro who can squat 200 is gonna be more valuable when the black ZIO-KIKE helicopters come for your Dude Lodge than some e-thot that probably fucks niggers.
