With a (questionable) W from James Drake, how would you rate season 5 of Fishtank?

  • 1 Star — Absolute disaster. Unwatchable, boring, production fucked it up bad, the fish were lame

Scott is on their level though. He is someone who also wants to use Fishtank and his Sam Hyde association to grow an online fan-base into a career. I can't really watch him a lot just because I get that smell of desperation at times and its unpleasant.

Jet and production in general do look like complete scumbags when they dangle fame and success in front of them just to chew contestants up and spit them out to then forget them as soon as they are out-of-sight. Jet was weird about how financially golden Josie was and then Shinji got gaslit into thinking he has a free streaming career once he is out. Both pretty terrible lies. Josie is doing ok financially, not amazing, even then she is an outlier among outliers, not an example of what happens to fish once they get out.

I don't really think that production should be helping out past contestants significantly, but simple things like tweeting out socials, first livestream-links could be decent of them to do.

It just seems scummy how much they play up the "If you stick with this your days of wage slavery are over" (Which Jet said directly to Meg) and then after the show ends make it look like they are almost actively avoiding contact with cast members. I mean with who is running shit I'm not surprised lol it just leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

This is pragmatic to do from a business perspective not just being a decent human being. If you show a modicum of interest in the success of your contestants well being post show they'll remember it and be more likely to work with you again.

She also flashed her DMs by accident....oof. Bunch of nobodies, she and Greg speaking to each other on the day Taylor called him out on Twitter, and what looks like one of Greg's fans telling her to side with Greg because he has "mad friends."

Honestly I don't know what all the maneuvering is for, their trajectories are set at this point and it seems like, out of three very mid results, only Taylor's doing well and hasn't been butchering her reputation with people for clout.

I'm glad someone else thinks the same. I remember Cole looking up at the camera while monologuing alone in S2 and going "If everyone who uses 4chan is like Jimmy, I'm not going on there anymore" with a derisive smirk on his face, as if they're all that different from each other. I'm pretty sure the main difference between Cole and Jimmy is their upbringing, really. Cole is only a few instances of childhood trauma and parental bad decisions away from collecting CDs and ranting about high school in his thirties.
 


Trading blows again... Taylor copyright struck Abi for restreaming, apparently. Someone told Abi that Taylor will be doing a 24 hour stream and she snapped at them saying she doesn't care.

If I had to take a side here... I don't really give a damn about who's right because they're all irrelevant so I'll say I kinda side with Greg because he's the only one who made a good enough impression during the show to be called back for 2.5. Taylor is definitely doing well on her own, so she doesn't have anything to prove. I don't really care who's in the right because at the end of the day they're just ripping each other apart over a difference of 20 viewers, max.
