Speaking of TJ, he posted on Instagram. https://www.instagram.com/bruh_i_got_an_insta/
You don’t understand… They’ll make you paint walls, make cookies, and clean your room. This shit isn’t for the weak.

I would like to think every fish, freeloader, staff member, and fan of the show for helping mold me into something much more than when I entered the tank. Being on Fishtank felt both a wonderful dream and horrific nightmare at the same time but nevertheless, I feel unending happiness and pride for joining the show. It’s rare to contribute to such works of art such as Fjshtank and I feel blessed to bring something to this masterpiece. Thank you for watching.

Season 1's dry spell was the camping arc or am I mistaken? Basically planned dead air where Jet forgot it was also a multi-day challenge for "best camper wins a fishbuck" or whatever. At least it had a reason to happen and led to some kino, playing a major part in Letty's arc on the show.

On "arcs," I'm tired of that being a forced thing for the show. It was a bit of a joke to say "the X arc" for season 1, eg "the camping arc" but it did serve to refer to a specific time everyone is immediately familiar with. Letty had a genuine character arc on the show as well, certainly the most drastic. Season 2 it seems like production wanted to force both time and character arcs when that isn't how it works.
It should also be said that during the camping arc production was clearly trying to take the remaining fish nudging each one into being the next main character. Oftentimes production is best when they are subtle, and luckily for us and them Letty was a bit of a sleeper fish content wise. The moment she was put in the spotlight by production by being made camp counselor she showed that she had plot driving potential, and it cemented the Letty vs the house arc. Basically production didn’t lose every content generating fish they had season one.

Season two was interesting in that production basically did lose every content generating fish. It snuck up on them, and before they knew it they had to force artificial arcs with TJ and drama bait like with CK and Brian just to attempt to keep viewers engaged. Not to mention the amount of time Sam spent in the house after just to keep people watching. Anticipation of developing plot lines or arcs is almost just as good as content, because unlike content developing plot lines are slow burns keeping people engaged longer while content can be sporadic and disconnected. They lost the ability to create a natural plot line and by extension that anticipation when Summer, JC, and Cole were out of the house. They officially lost most natural content generating ability after Jimmy was eliminated.

Season one had a minor content drought, season two had a major one that was worsened by bad decision making.

To comment on Sam and Airsoft Fatty.

I think that Sam sort of backs himself into corner with Chris. He brought Chris on Fishtank shortly after idubbz dissociated himself from Chris. Sam brings him on as another subtle way to stick it to idubbz. But now Sam has had ASF around him for the last year as part of his group. If Sam gets sick of Chris and gives him the boot, then he's just as bad as idubbz if not worse as Sam has been using Fatty as a lolcow for his show.

Chris's cycle on the show usually goes.

1. Be loud and overbearing on the show or berate contestants with bad life advice.

2. Fly off the handle in a tardrage and make idle threats. This is usually due to either being bullied, being rejected by a female or losing an item like a weed pen. At this stage, his pants may or may not fall down.

3. Fall into a blubbering mess and recall past traumas to anyone who will listen or go one about how he needs to fix this or that with his life and how he's going to leave the show.

4. Goes down into the basement.

5. Re-emerges onto the show after being medicated with weed or other drugs by the production. He'll walk in like a sitcom character, say "hey guys" and everyone will say "Chris!" he'll then tell a tale about how he was going to leave the show but he had a change of heart and not because he's incapable of getting home or taking care of himself. After that the cycle restarts.

Chris is an endearing retard and he makes content. Sam going to bat for him when Chris is feeling sad and hopeless seems totally normal. He’s also extremely sincere about who he is and isn’t cynical or malicious, how could anyone hate that?

Is no one in this thread going to talk about how weirdly quiet things have been? Sam and Jet have barely posted about it since it ended. Sam hasn’t even posted any sort tweet about the show ending just some vague stuff from his book and reposting people.

I can't imagine Sam is going to have have TJ on the stream like he had Josie and Letty. TJ would just ummm and ahhh for an hour and it would be brutal. It would also put a dent in the whole TJ is changed man arc. Seeing him just stumble on stream would remind people that he hasn't made some great change. The only people I could see being on the stream with Sam is Shinji or maybe Trish. I wouldn't be surprised in Tay just took her money and went home. She probably wouldn't want to be around the same production people who were shit to her on the show or be around a gross weirdo like Frank.

My gut feeling is Sam and Jet just want to tie up the lose ends of season 2 and wash their hands of it and start working on the next thing.

I agree that the camping arc cemented Letty as the "villain" but disagree on them happening to lose the content drivers in season 2. Nothing snuck up on them, they targeted the content drivers and apparently only Sam knows when to let up.
  • JC - Likely had no plans to get all the way through but left when things first got a bit too wacky. Probably could have been convinced to stick around a little longer but no one cared because it was so early.
  • Summer - Problem contestant that had to go. Probably skipped meds.
    • Worth noting they intended to keep her there longer and she was left in the dog house before going to the basement.
  • Meg - Unlikely to win, stopped taking meds to drink, had issues with Jimmy which were ignored. Jet mismanaged her terribly.
  • Cole - Set up as the "villain" and saw right through it, was willing to play along for a bit but then was also attacked by production. Jet mismanaged him terribly.
  • Jimmy - Problem contestant and walking liability, bullied constantly to drive entertainment. Exacerbated by production and ultimately... Jet mismanaged him and it would have been very bad if Jimmy intended to hurt anyone. Was punished for taking his meds when he felt he was on the brink during The Cell.
JC, Meg, and Cole won by heading out, they were unlikely to ever win the whole show and were set up to be punching bags. Meg, Cole, and Jimmy were bullied by production and realized what was going on to varying degrees. Production, excluding Sam, dropped the ball hard by not knowing how to balance things, constantly focusing on one fish even when they've clearly had too much. They did this to Letty too but are lucky she was good for it and, more often than not, it was Sam who personally had to keep her from walking with secret pep talks.

Because giving Chris money and resources while he overeats and continues his weed addiction is reinforcing and enabling behavior that makes him a fat depressed retard. If Sam truly wanted to help him, he would offer Chris an incentive system for losing weight and cardio. He has a pattern of pitying himself for things that he has control over- yet he makes it seem like he doesn't like many death fats. He has control over his eating, he has control over working out, and he has control over quitting weed. Even if fatty didn't agree to it prior to the show- having a fatty intervention on S3 would be a great way to separate Sam from Idubbz, by showing some sort of transformation in Chris. To enhance production value, this could be done Biggest Loser style with a massive scale, dietician, and workout schedule.

Agreed, this is why I don't agree that the camping arc was a content drought. If anything it was probably the most important era of Season 1 since it fully cemented Letty's position against the rest of the house, which would become a major factor going forward. It also introduced the concept of Freeloaders with Simon/Tai, which would also become a staple of the series.

Agreed. I don't care about forced arcs. If someone has a good or bad change over the coarse of the show, then that's cool. But it shouldn't be forced. Having production say "isn't this character arc great! Aren't you attached to this character now?" is shit and having production tying who should be the winner based on what arc story that can be cobbled together is shit.

If a contestant has little change and is fairly plain personality wise but can win challenges and outwit everyone else, then they deserve to win the game. But that's if they still want it to be a game show. If the production can't organize the shows structure where people can display their personalities and have things to do through out the day, then that's their fault. Half assing the running of the show where fish have nothing to do but then pulling them aside and saying "you need to develop an entertaining character arc for television" is shit and inorganic.

Its high irony that the most intelligent person on the show in the form of Tay ended up getting solid advice from Fatty and she followed it. He did those bathroom pep talks and told her that she, along with most of the cast, had lost weight over the course of the show and Tay took it to heart and started eating 3 square meals, snacks between them, and about 5 protein shakes a day until the finale. There is a dramatic difference between that early picture of her with her shoulder looking very skeletal and the bikini picture at the end where she is at a healthy weight, its one of the few positives out of this god forsaken season that she ended up getting to a healthier place than when she entered.

I can picture a video of this in my head, they're in a casino, TJ's near the roulette tables just standing there swinging his arms back and forth while the overworld music from Yoshi's Island plays, someone comes by with a horse mask on and he tries to walk away in fear, then it cuts over to Taylor at the reels and the screen just drops to 144p with a shitton of GAMBLECORE effects and then the background turns into a shot of TJ's paypal balance saying -14 QUADRILLION and an ad popup for job offers like one to be the onsite plumber for season 3
Or Taylor becomes the female Bossman Jack and streams herself losing all the 50K before running into the next room and screaming at TJ "SHUT UP! SHUT THE THE FUCK UP! GO BACK INTO YOUR ROOM!"

Went back and rewatched a highlight clip of the day Cole was kicked off and I feel completely justified in thinking he was a shit fish. His forced "I'm a rich guy so much better then those dirty poor's!" shtick just made him come off as an asshole. He clearly did not want to be there and didn't care about winning. He was already threatening to leave in the morning of day 10. People keep saying "Oh he had such great potential imagine if he was finalist!" he was crying to get off the show 10 days in. He never would have made it to even the halfway point. Production gave him an Xbox because they were so scared of him leaving. You want to talk about coddling? That's coddling.

Cole wanted to leave. Him name dropping Letty's legal name was a clear indicator he wanted to leave the show. He specifically wanted to be kicked off so he wouldn't have to look like the pussy he was. He was too fragile for the show. Sam himself said he left voluntarily he had no reason to lie about that. Saying Letty's publicly available legal name is not serious enough that Sam would have to cover up for it. Cole purposely antagonized the production who liked him into bringing him down to the basement and then left on his own.

Something I think we can all agree on is that the director cam was an amazing addition to the show. Every time it was turned on we would get amazing shots of the fish. My only complaint is a that they didn’t use it earlier and more often. I also think that during this season there were way more “Neptunian” moments were the cams would look like shots from a movie.

The color in the house really added a lot. They lucked out with finding a house that met their needs (several bedrooms and bathrooms, mother-in-law-suite in the basement) that also had such an incredible aesthetic. The bar, the doors, the fireplace, the bright carpet, iirc all they added for the show was the wallpaper, some paint, and the gooncave. The house itself being utilized like a prop was fantastic and was a lot of fun, even if watching them destroy it felt like watching someone beat their own child.

I only caught the first half of s1 and the second half of s2 so I can't really compare, but it does jump out how much better they were prepared logistics-wise.

He didn't start that, Sam did. He just ran with it, either due to explicit direction or perceived direction.

I don't think he wanted to be kicked off, he already almost left on his own but was told to wait on Sam and during that wanted to stay again. I don't think Sam was lying, I think Jet lied to Sam like he did throughout the season. Ben kicked him off on cam and Cole said in one of his streams that when he went to the basement he initially was ready to go but tried to get them to keep him and they wouldn't have it.

Cole was never going to win but they did a terrible job of trying to keep him. Jet was encouraging and bullying Cole via TTS, hiding behind his keyboard down in the basement, pressuring him to leave more than stay. Only when a TTS mentioning Noble 6 from Halo Reach resonated with Cole did Jet try to hone in on that and give him some Halo to play to keep him around. They had set him up to be the bad guy and he brought in a lot of money via TTS, he was a fan favorite. This is after losing JC, Summer and Meg by week 1. Yeah they're gonna coddle the current cash cow.

Jet openly did not like Cole, I don't have the pics that were floating around but he said in Fishtank chat that Cole sucked and he preferred Brian. Jet would never let Cole win and was Cole's primary bully via TTS. Keeping that in mind, it makes sense that Jet would lie to Sam, as he is clearly comfortable doing, and say that Cole left. Obviously there's no evidence either way but I don't doubt that Cole wanted to stay on and Jet told him "No." Sam presumably asked why Cole left and Jet lied saying Cole wanted to go, hence the tweet as Sam wanted Cole back on due to his popularity with TTS.

I feel the only way to make change in Chris's life is you would have to send him to one of those camps in Utah were every aspect of his life was controlled for 12 months.
