With a (questionable) W from James Drake, how would you rate season 5 of Fishtank?

  • 1 Star — Absolute disaster. Unwatchable, boring, production fucked it up bad, the fish were lame

is anyone else finding it hard to keep track of the fish? the layout (house and cams) feels less intuitive than the previous house to me.

If you click this button you can see a layout of the house which will make it a little easier to understand.

yeah i know, i just dont like the sequential order they have for the arrow keys, feels weird to not have the stairs next to each other mainly.

also i feel like this setup has more dead space/blind spots

My thoughts so are:

Cole and Shinji are the only ones (so far) with anything resembling a personality

This person having their shit flung everywhere on the couch is annoying me

The house layout is kind of annoying to watch, when the fish are in distant corners of the room you can't really see what they're doing. Because the house is not as open as the season 1 house the other cams don't overlap, if that makes any sense

I am very curious how the carpets (as almost the entire house is carpeted) are going to hold up later into the season, I don't recall ever seeing a vacuum in season 1.

The lack of thumbnails on the cams make finding the action frustrating, it really wouldn't cost that much bandwidth to periodically update the previews [edit] Apparently there is a different display mode which shows the thumbnails, but if you close it then you have to refresh for it to show up again

The smaller rooms have done wonders for the audio quality though.

It doesn't help that the indexing on the navigation is fucked up

If I showed you this image, and asked how many times you needed to press the right arrow to navigate to the Dog House room

You would probably say you needed to press it twice

But in actuality, you have to press it 13 times(!)

Bar > Lounge > Downstairs Bathroom > Living Room > Upstairs Hallway > Upstairs Bathroom > Master Bathroom > Bedroom 1 > Bedroom 2 > Bedroom 3 > The Bunk > Attic > Hallway Downstairs > Dog House

why didnt they utilize the up and down arrows to change level? then you could have a more intuitive loop on each floor.

I like the new layout with the smaller rooms.

a) you can hear what the fish are saying

b) it's causing the fish to be a bit more mobile.

Before the fish tended to huddle up in the living room. Now if they need a little space they are forced to move about. I think this will lead to more deception down the line.
