>unserious character in joke fanservice DLC has unserious dialogueIn one of the DLC maps she also has dialogue with Gharnef and i'll just let the dialogue speak for itself

Bassilio is just Italian. Even his name sounds Italian.Whenever this thread talks about Black people in FE, I just have to wonder if none of yall have ever seen a Mediterranean person before? Pelegians, Bassilio, and others are very clearly olive skin tone, being desert people close to midevil grekkoroman civilizations, not sub Saharan.
I'd rather this thread not turn into some /v/ thing.>unserious character in joke fanservice DLC has unserious dialogue
fire emblem... has fallen
This is where I'd like to point out how many old supports are just training, food, and characters like Sain and Larachel being quirk chungus in every single line of their dialogue, but the response to that is always just "post every single old support as proof, and even if you do, they're still not as bad as nu-FE, which I didn't read," so who gives a shit. Oldfag larper purists only see what they want to see, and shit like Ilyana trying to eat Mia's foot or Gatrie's "Speedbring 4000" is never enough to break the fanfic that these are deeply serious and profound realistic political war chronicles. By Nintendo.
You said "Not every character has one gimmick they agressively (sic) show off and have to cram into every line of dialogue" about the newer games, which is just another way of saying "all characters from games I barely played are memes," and then used a joke character and joke dialogue from a DLC to paint a picture of every nu-FE character being as low-brow as Ilyana, or that obvious pervert lolicon shit like Nowi was never around pre-Awakening.All I pointed out is that Ilyana tier characters became more common as the series went on, not that older games did not have Ilyana tier characters.
The artist has been on record saying that they weren't even given much info on the character's personalities before designing the characters and I said they wouldn't be out of place in a flavor of the week gacha game, not that they were directly inspired by Heroes. Now, whether or not you believe IS approved of designs that looked a lot like generic gacha characters to appeal to a gacha crowd they have trouble getting to play anything aside from Heroes is up to you.Character designs have a lot to do with the artist. I don’t see how the character design has anything to do with Heroes.
Because Three Houses still draws some on the preceding FE aesthetic tradition for its design. It still breaks with it in significant parts but where it's present it's still has that FE 'feel'. Engage just doesn't. This isn't something that you can't really quantify, but given most of the people who have bothered to talk about Engage have mentioned how, at best, generic its characters look and at worst how they all look like vtubers with the same face, it's something objectively observable. If it doesn't bother you it doesn't bother you, but it bothers a lot of people.Three Houses’ designs are for the most part good and grounded and that was post-Heroes, too.
This isn't a good comparison. Finding a Pokemon isn't the same as catching it, you have many methods of curating the weights of which mon you'll find, and running around in tall grass isn't the only method of getting new Pokemon or the only way you'll interact with them. You can play Pokemon like you'd play a gacha game, but you don't have to. If you want to engage with Engage's ring forging mechanics, you have to play it like you would play a gacha game - the only real difference is that it isn't nearly as predatory and you aren't forced to interact with it to progress in the game as a whole.I’m guessing you mean the fact that ring forging is random. I can see how that’s annoying, but it’s a very small part of the game, and there aren’t that many rings. Is running around trying to find a specific Pokémon in wild grass a gacha mechanic?
Again, it's not the mechanical impact, it's the principle. I don't want this in mainline FE on principle regardless of how benign it may be now, and I don't want mainline FE becoming a supplement to Heroes. The ring gacha is overblown, you really don't need toengageplay with the system at all.
To be more precise, IS seems to care more about characterbuilding rather than worldbuilding. 3H actually had a lot of effort into its world, but the way they present it gameplay wise makes the world feel way smaller than it actually is, unlike the characters of that game, who are given a lot more depth and backstory on why they're fighting with us, compared to previous FE games, even if some of them are on the sillier side of things like Bernie and Raphael.IS seems to care more about gameplay than worldbuilding nowadays
Might be a blessing in disguise given how the writers don't seem too clued into the characters' personalities as much as the demo the character is for-- visible with Tharja going from toxic stalker to big titty goth gf (big titties optional). The artist has been on record saying that they weren't even given much info on the character's personalities before designing the characters and I said they wouldn't be out of place in a flavor of the week gacha game, not that they were directly inspired by Heroes. Now, whether or not you believe IS approved of designs that looked a lot like generic gacha characters to appeal to a gacha crowd they have trouble getting to play anything aside from Heroes is up to you.
You have rose-tinted glasses my man. The characters aren’t any less in-depth, developed, or ‘complex’ (simple characters are often more effective than complex ones, but I digress) than they were in the past. The SNES era was very light on dialogue. Only a few characters had anything resembling a personality at all. The most descriptive aspect of a character was often their portrait and their stats, or the role they had in the story (e.g. we get a sense of what kind of person Minerva is based on her actions, but we know little beyond that).I'd rather this thread not turn into some /v/ thing.
If you read my post you would know I did bring up Illyana as a negative example, never once did I so much as imply that the older games are "deeply serious and profound realistic political war chronicles. By Nintendo." but I suppose Fire Emblem Zoomer faggots only see what they want to see too.
All I pointed out is that Ilyana tier characters became more common as the series went on, not that older games did not have Ilyana tier characters.
Sounds like an retarded move on the devs partThe artist has been on record saying that they weren't even given much info on the character's personalities before designing the characters
I really do think they only care about cornering demographics of goontards.Sounds like an retarded move on the devs part
Intelligent Systems have proven time and time and time again that they will actively avoid making what are objectively the most obvious, sensible, and intelligent (har har) decisions for this series, and I don't even know anything about the kind of shit that goes down in Heroes; from my understanding of the Hoshidan nobles vs Nohrian, ISIS are really petty and vindictive when people don't swallow what they want to push. Which is usually retarded.Sounds like an retarded move on the devs part
And to this day, you can't convince that this was an incredibly good idea for the local gymrat to be constantly wearing an frilly dress.but hearing things like ISIS telling the Mika Pikazo "yeah just draw fuckin whatever we'll make it work lamo" just tells me ISIS completely hates the idea of doing what makes sense
Million dollar question: is IS more clueless than Gamefreak at this point?Whatever doinky fent they're smoking at ISIS, I want some.
