Thank You for the free content,
That is quite late to not have any Promoted units of your own.So annoyed at Living Legend rn. I got all the shit from the desert and got the 700XP but lost out on a Guiding Ring because I didn't know it was there beforehand and Matthew isn't fast enough to steal it from Jasmine. I'm hoping putting the following into words and posting it will help me remember when I next play this game in years' time: Matthew is essentially dead once Legault shows up.
It's weird. I'm playing the game without savestates for the first time in all these years and I've never been as late as Four-Fanged Offense without having a single promoted unit on my team before (barring prepromotes, obviously). It's a testament to how much I abuse the arena when I can rely on savestates![]()
Yeah I always get them to 20 before promoting them. With my terrible luck, they need all the help they can get. Kent and Lowen are half a level from 20, to be fair. It's just funny that I haven't been avoiding fights or anything, killing bosses on the last turn of defend maps etc. and all my units apart from those two and the lords are lv. 13-18.That is quite late to not have any Promoted units of your own.
At the very least I have a promoted Canas or Sain/Lowen by Four Fanged Offense, I usually promote Canas at 11-13 and 15 for the Cavaliers though, I take it you want them at 20 before promotion?
FE7 isn't Awakening, waiting until 20 to promote isn't the optimal strategy for most unitsYeah I always get them to 20 before promoting them. Could you elaborate?FE7 isn't Awakening, waiting until 20 to promote isn't the optimal strategy for most units
Grinding is much more limited and risky in Blazing Blade than in Awakening or Sacred Stones while most units struggle for defense/res, so the effect of the lump sum you get when promoting is, usually, a lot more dramatic than the interest you'd earn on getting someone all the way up to level 20. Not to say that there's no units or circumstances where that isn't worthwhile or that you should promote the moment you get to level 10 (Priscilla discounted), but generally it's a good idea to promote in the mid teens, especially if you're only likely to get growths in throwaway stats for a unit on additional levels.Could you elaborate?
FE7 in general has very poor enemy quality, meaning they are not much of a threat.Could you elaborate?
I'd like to know some more details if it pleases you.Got some downtime going from place to place for work, decided to bring my GBA + flash cart with me and try Fire Emblem: Blazing Blade.
I'm astounded how bad I am at this game and searching online shows I'm even worse than I expected
I'm at Chapter 25 and more or less convinced that I, once again, picked the wrong units.
The random level up stats are driving me up the wall and did Florina (on which I invested quite some time) + several other units dirty.

Always great to hear about the experiences of someone new.
You play on normal?
Don't worry about efficiency. It's a very deep and very gay rabbit hole in the community, who are mostly talking about the highest difficulties on made up rulesets anyway, and you're playing a very forgiving game even by those metrics. Do what your heart tells you to and have fun, you won't get your balls busted for it lategame.
- I have used promotion items as soon as they are available/the unit is able to be promoted. Looks like it may be quite suboptimal.
- Another suboptimal (and possibly very retarded) thing I do is that I try to make everyone gain exp equally and not leave anyone behind.
Compared to FFTA, the damage in FE is deterministic; there's no variance and you're going to get exact same results every single time, provided you know how to do the calcs. The good news is that the calcs are pretty simple and universal across most of the series.I have a very hard time predicting how dangerous an enemy promoted unit / boss will be before using the "Attack" command to check, compared to other game (played a bit of Final Fantasy Tactics Advance where I could reliably predict the threat for comparison)

But if you're chronically relying on this, you'll constantly be running the risk of being fucked overBut yes, bringing up the damage forecast when you select an enemy to attack and scrolling through the different weapons is the quickest way to tell how you're going to do.
