Honestly if there was an option to just fucking skip the academy era on repeat playthroughs it would be so much better, its absolute asinine that they want you go go through the game basically 4 times to get the full picture with nearly half of each playthrough being nearly the same no matter WHAT and yeah like you said there isn't really much point in doing Silver Snow outside of completion sake due to the fact that it was basically recycled from Verdant Wind.
I actually don't mind the monastery sections but it would've made for a better game if they trimmed the fat a little bit. They DID fix this in Three Copes (and by fix, I mean tearing it out almost completely) but it's almost a bitch to have to go back to the previous game just because you just want to fight somebody.

What's absolutely retarded though is them keeping the academy section/teaching in the time-skipped portion of the game. I get we're supposed to be a teacher but that is just ridiculous right there. Someone more eloquent than I am can probably put into better words how weird that shit was, if someone hadn't discussed this point already.

Actually, Verdant Wind recycled from Silver Snow, if I remember correctly. But shit, I don't blame you for thinking that given that SS's route is very bland, I just did VW because I haven't been a Golden Deer yet.

Maps in 3h are ultra mediocre.
Spacing (dead space), side objectives, time pressure.

There's a few good maps.
The monastery pre skip battle is the best the game can do map wise imo.
Yeah for as much as I love 3H, most of the maps are just pretty meh.

The best maps are like in the very later chapters of each route, the final chapter before timeskip, and the lava location to name a few great maps.

I think the last game I can remember in the series that had decent maps overall and wasn't a remake was honestly either Tellius game, Awakening's maps for the most part are okay its just objective wise they are really samey while Fates' are bipolar af ranging from mediocre to good to this is kinda annoying depending on the route. Though that might be my nostalgia cause I haven't played RD since like 2016 but at the same time RD had the Gatekeeper but badass in the 3-13 Sniper.

God 3H has way too many goddamn routes...I still have 1 and a half more to go. What's even worse is they all feel so samey (and their so fucking long too). I really hope IS never attempts to do that ever again. They tried that with Fates and that was an absolute disaster. For all the faults I can see already with Engage, at least its one route.

RD is a funny case since Chapter 4 had some of the hypest maps in the franchise (the tower chapters) but also some of the absolute worst (every map before the tower where all but the Izuka map are rout maps with shit loads of reinforcements)

3H kinda made me retroactively appreciate that Conquest and Birthright came with their own sets of maps and characters, even if Birthright as a whole is really dull.
Revelation is a trainwreck though and I remember almost its entire first half just being copy pasted from Birthright.

The thing that also makes the pre-tower maps so disgusting to play is that your trained up units will be spread out across 3 groups and leaving one group too underhanded can lead to problems.
But they absolutely nailed it with the tower at the end.

Engage looks like it will at least be enjoyable in the same way a tokusatsu anniversary season can be when you shut your brain off.

Even if Kamen Rider Zi-O failed at even being that.

I really don't see how the same people made chapter 10 (one of the best map ever imo)

Hence why I said bipolar, Conquest in general felt like it had the best map variety in Fates imo while Birthright's were fairly forgettable overall and Revelations' were terrible and I agree chapter 10 of Conquest is easily one of the best defense maps the series has ever done.

I wish Crimson Flower was long *sigh*

Well, the bad news about the Twitter posts about engage is that simping over the toothpaste dragon will be an thing amongst the cast if this is to believed.

I have already made my peace with the fact that as long as avatars/self inserts are a thing, everyone will fall over heels for chad/stacy thundercock/pussy. Really shows the change in philosophy from Kaga wanting the player and the protagonist to be 2 different entities to Maeda and Kusakihara making you the super special hero with unique powers who everyone loves and if they don't, they are a villain or eventually give in and start fellating you as well.

I used to be that way until I started liking Hubert, which makes me an Edelgard defender by default.
Honestly I didn't care for him much until I did VW, his emergency plan for if the Empire lost to the Alliance with that letter and how actually clutch the information in it was despite how certain he was that they wouldn't lose really won me over though I still liked Dedue and Hilda a bit more when it came to the "right hand man" character.

I didn't care for him until I played Three Copes. Now he's one of my favorites in that game but really because he reminds me of Ghirahim from LoZ.
