The other day I was just randomly thinking of things I'd change about the series and this one was like a slap to the face it was so obvious:

You should be able to "mark" some of your units on or off (by default they are marked off). If they are marked on that means when they end their turn they are able to do one additional non-attack action before becoming inactive for that turn (be it Equip, Trade or Rescue -- no healing). If the devs are afraid of Trading Conga Lines then scratch Trade and Rescue and just have Equip be the only option. Imagine decimating a tough enemy with your Silver Sword wielding Jagen and then equipping him with a Training Sword/ShitStick to preserve the Silver Sword's durability, while also reducing the risk of him eating up grunt exp on enemy phase. Its honestly insane this isn't a thing.

I wish Crimson Flower was long *sigh*
As a massive Edelgard apologist, I both agree and disagree with you. I accidentally got that route on my first blind playthrough, and I definitely felt like I wasn't ready for the game to finish when it did. I immediately started a new game with the DLC house and Claude, and on the other hand, I think the game jumps the shark with the futuristic faction with ICBMs. It feels very brief and tacked on.

Hopes's Scarlet Blaze should remedy that for you, depends on how huge an apologist you really are.

What he said for ya, honestly I liked SB but its like the only path in Hopes that doesn't feel half finished. Though personally I think the Argathans were just severely underexplained as a whole even with Hopes giving us their own equivalent to Sothis, as it stands now they are basically a somehow high tech Cult of Loptyr without much substance beyond having warred with Sothis and her children in the past and enabling Nemesis to kill most of Sothis' children and Sothis herself.

EDIT: I also wanna reinforce that statement about SB by saying I am a MASSIVE Dimitri stan, like he ties with freaking Sigurd for my second favorite character in the franchise, and if anyone wants to ask who is first it is simple Seliph.

Edelgard did nothing wrong.

That is the only path I haven't played(Siding against Edelgard isn't a real path choice IMO) and I've heard a lot of positives about it. I definitely need to get around to it. I almost regret selecting Claude over Dimitri for my second play through.

Funny thing is iirc Silver Snow was made before Verdant Wind, and honestly the final boss in VW felt more fitting for SS and vice versa but Azure Moon IMO is one of the better stories in the franchise mostly for Dimitri's development.

Well, the slow rate of character reveals from Twitter drove someone insane, last night. Guy was previously saying shit like "Xenoblade has better PR than FE" or something.
Tbf to the schizo, the NoA twitter was posting XB3 pre release news almost at the same time those news came out in Japanese, while FE has never really gotten a pre release period of news like that even after Awakening came out, at best getting trailers that just tells us info the JP accounts tweeted out months ago, and at worst radio silence until the next direct/big game event/2 weeks before release

Avatars were a mistake...
Maybe it's just me but I feel like difficulty and writing quality fell off a cliff once you could romance any waifu/husbando you wanted and make a single unit a killing machine very early on.
Granted I have only played the three GBA games, Shadow Dragon, Awakening, and the three Fates games so I could be wrong.
Also does anyone else feel like the weapon triangle has become more and more pointless?

I agree, they should go back to having actual main characters and ditch the romance shit. They haven't had a good game since DS' Shadow Drag, which was apparently a remake.

At this point the only thing I want from the series is remasters and remakes.

The issue with Edelgard discourse, to me, is that I don't think IS themselves has an answer. I think the plot is too shoddy to ever reach an objective truth value. This is also a fictional narrative where objective truth takes a backseat to righteous narrative aspirations.

And also I think it will just cause IS to never try with their villains/heroes again. Even though she is an incredibly successful character with a huge fanbase AND hatedom.

She's not my favorite Lord but ffs Claude is such a knobhead.

Here's how to fix the franchise: Show, don't tell.

That's it.

Come to think of it, this is also one of those games where there aren't any locals bitching about how miserable they are under one of.the countries. Of course, the clergy will complain, for obvious reasons

That's long been FE's achilles heel. The Supports got around the limitations of showing characters do or experience things on old hardware. But they became a baked in staple so now everything is explained. Which doesn't quite work in practice.

So I find myself having to pretend people who aren't reliable on the personalities and arcs of minor characters know the right ways to snake around the big issues with the big characters.

Speaking of which, I find it an little bit weird that 3H doesn't have those miniature villages where people come up to you share how miserable that the world is and give you an useful weapon so you can fix the problem. Of course, I usually have more gold than what I actually needed in my runs; but some of those conversations really broke the monotony of Fates.
