Fire definitely wasn't my friend in Far Cry 3 because it could kill you really fast while it usually didn't spread very far you triend to use it. In Far Cry 2 the fire spread everywhere and destroyed entire outposts because the enemies were too stupid to avoid it. I really wish that they would remake Far Cry 2 with Far Cry 3 mechanics but re-introduce weapon degradation.

Theres was nothing quite like an RPG misfiring and flying across the ground

So is 2 worth trying even though I have already been spoiled by the far more refined gameplay mechanics of 3 and 4?

I think you'd struggle to enjoy it tbh. has it's fans, and it definitely had some good ideas, but overall it just felt far to unrefined too me.

I like Far Cry 2, but the fact that literally everyone hates you in that game and the fast travel system is really primitive, means that getting from place to place is a huge slog. That's not to say I don't like the game, but I'd really miss some of Far Cry 3's mechanics in that game.

I like the idea behind Primal and I'm excited about the setting, and the prospect of ridding a sabretooth tiger, but I was burnt out on Far Cry games after 3, and I'm yet to experience 4.

One thought that's been going through my head for a while is how awesome a Farcry game using the Turok licence would be.

Primals pretty great but once the extreme survival mode DLC drops its gonna be fucking hardcore.

Far cry 2+ fast travel = perfection

Just looked this up and it sounds fucking intense. It should help with the fact that Primal is ridiculously easy.

Honestly im not the greatest gamer but i fucking sailed through primal dying maybe twice. I stopped using animals buddys and the double bow it was so devoid of challenge.
Still thought it was great just very very easy

Exact same for me. I'm not that great at games but the whole thing was a cakewalk after the first few hours. I loved the game but like you said, very very easy. Animals were overpowered and you could use your owl to finish off almost anyone. Hopefully the new mode will fix that.

Needs moar blood dragons
But i would settle for co-op

I played like an hour of blood dragon and never touched it again. I have no idea why, I should go back and play it.

Survival mode is out for Primal now. Permadeath, weakened beasts, gimped owl and no minimap.

Anyone else giving it a try?

Hell yeah, that thing tears shit up. One of the things I hated about 4 was it forces you to carry a side arm. I always like to go out with a bow, an assault rifle, a sniper rifle, and a toy. Usually a flamethrower or machine gun, something fun to bust out and cause some mayhem from time to time but since I was required to carry a shit sidearm I didn't have room for the fun weapons.
To be fair, you can get a grenade launcher and a mini crossbow as a sidearm, both of which are pretty fun to use while flying in the buzzer.

Another cool thing I like about 4 is the Karma system that gives you perks for doing helpful things, from helping the rebels in a skirmish or killing/looting targets to hijacking an enemy cargo truck and taking it to a liberated outpost. Although I do find the whole double skin bonus just for killing an animal with a blade or arrow rather than a firearm to be slightly arbitrary, especially after coming to FC4 from FC3, though it is useful.

I never really used the crossbow which only leaves the grenade launcher. It's neat but in FC3 I could carry a grenade launcher or a flame thrower or a machine gun, which is way cooler. The side arm felt limiting.

FC4 was better in almost every way aside from the sidearm issue and that I liked Rook Island better. I remember the double skin thing, but I don't remember which one it's from.

Fuck, I need to play some more Far Cry.
