I’m not really sure where the image of the meek, rural housewife comes from, but let me tell you — all the working-class, rural women I grew up with were fucking tough, capable, smart, and sassy as hell. This woman seems like an idiot, and her preaching is irritating. By her own words, that means it's cool if we chloroform her, right?

Also, are these people allergic to research that isn't comprised of anecdotes? They try to talk about societal problems with, like, stories about shit they've seen.

Asking a women to show research or proof is a form of gaslighting and non-physical rape. You are to believe without question anything a woman tells you, no exceptions*.

typically people i've met who call themselves asexuals come in two varieties:

1) actually asexual
2) wants to seem pure or some gay shit but actually is more sexual than most people

aromantics are similar, and much more likely to be type 2 (which is roughly comparable to nice guys)

also romantics are much more likely to be absolutely terrible
 
To them, creating a happy little fantasy world in their head where everyone lives like it's some kind of endless summer sitcom IS the research. They thought of it, ergo, it's possible, there's no NEED to go any further, except bash those who are preventing it from happening with their bad vibes..... it's just this generation's version of the frustrated socialist genius from the early 20th Century..... unable to understand why we don't just jump to the communist utopia stage right NOW, he's got it all figured out.... must be those dirty capitalists and their false consciousness!!!!
 
Yeah, I think all of this poly shit has to go out the window when it comes to a kid. Kids need well defined caretakers. There's nothing wrong with close family friends being "aunts" and "uncles", but I draw the line at willingly giving a kid like 6 parents.

From the little I've read, aromantics seem to have this disgust towards "romantics". Almost like a superiority complex and talking about how industry and western society have ruined relationships with this icky romance.

this year i made the mistake of trying to date an aromantic (who didn't solidly identify themselves as such until they were done fucking with me) and i can tell you it's much worse than that

this one, and several others, want to be admired/wanted but don't want to return it – no matter who you are

i was going to tell a long story about how they called me entitled for having them spot me a few times when i needed noms – while they also received over $10,000 (no joke, i counted) in music gear from some random admirer or sth

but the story itself is so absurdly long and stupid that it's probably impossible to tell

no idea htf i get involved with such shitty people but they seem like the kind of person that would love "everyday feminism"
 
That was another label that got tossed around the asexuality board, I thought it meant someone who was just not big on "stereotypical" romance like dinner and a movie..... turns out it was a lot more toxic. It might have meant that once upon a time, before asexuality got tumblrized.

It also doesn't speak highly of you when you basically accuse everyone of being a mindless, drooling, sheep who'll believe anything they see on TV without question, which is what anyone who brings up the "positive media portrayal" angle is usually saying, just not in those words.

It has a measureable effect, but it's not the root cause of your movement being popular or not popular.
