Please for the love of god if you are carrying get a dot as well. They are cheap now and make target acquisition much faster.
I would also recommend a big orange tritium filled front sight of good quality if you don’t want to use red dots. I understand how useful they are but I don’t want to have something that could run out of power or be affected by me not lining the dot up on my ccw. Not bashing if you use one it’s just my personal preference.

Red dots are a must have on rifles though! The 3 points of contact a rifle has basically guarantees proper eye-dot alignment. With my pistol I can still shoot target focused and both eyes open and my front sight acts as a fuzzy orange dot.

any recommendation for EDC knives? are Spyderco really that good? or are they overpriced and overrated?
Spyderco enjoyer here. Better than Benchmade in my opinion, no omega spring to fail. I've been carrying a Military in S30V for years, replaced recently with a new Military in S110V. Occasionally carry a Mantra 2 or a Gayle Bradly 2 when need something smaller and classier. Also got a Delica in ZDP-189 for carrying in the summer.

My EDC is usually a Tokarev, a pocket knife, a Streamlight MicroStream flashlight, a mini Bic lighter, and a Leatherman Squirt PS4 on my keys.

The short answer is folding knives are fine where I live, does Spyderco do things like OTFs or switchblades? I can't get those anyway so it doesn't matter.

It sounds like the hype is real around Spyderco though, so I think I might get one.
Despite my love of SAK, I love Spyderco. Check out their serrated blades they’re actually great, especially if you learn to sharpen them properly.

This man right here is based as fuck.
Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy is not wrong! You can use a towel for a lot of things, especially if you have a child with you, they tend to spray various liquids at random times. An old beach towel can save your ass and its not like they take up very much space.

Anyone ever customized a SAK? My EDC multitool is a Victorinox Super Tinker, which is almost perfect for my needs, but I really want to replace either the awl or the hook on the backside with a Victorinox Classic nail file. A file is literally the only thing I'm missing.

I’ve heard they’re hard to disassemble, I think you need an arbor press or something. Do they make a small file that can fit into the toothpick slot? I know they have a ferro rod that fits in there. The only thing I’ve added to my SAK is the pen scale and a needle in the hole behind the corkscrew/screwdriver.

Gotta vary it up when going to the ghetto of course. No Spydercos, instead rocking a knock-off Chinese Microtech Trodoon double-action OTF, scares the shit out of the local wildlife and cheap enough to ditch. Tokarev gets replaced with a Glock 19 with a TLR-8 (got to have the laser, local wildlife fears the red laser).

I have a SAK Farmer Alox where I sharpened up the screwdriver into a mini chisel for whittling. Also replaced the scales on an older SAK with homemade 3D printed faux-wood ones, turned out pretty well.

My usual carry is as follows: 9mm carry pistol with spare magazine
Wallet
Knife
Personal care kit
and spare pockets because you never know when you need an empty pocket.

Glock 43X for EDC all day every day. Sig P365 isn't bad either but Glock or die
I've tried the 43X and it just looks like a baby version of the 13. Very nice to carry due to the small size and the impressively low weight!
But for those reasons it has a pretty strong upwards kick and big muzzle flash that makes staying on target challenging.
But if you can physically handle it and you have lots of practice I would reccomend!

Glock is known for being the neighbor gun. I actually think this gives them credit, because think of how well they take care of it.
If the gun, with the barrel fouled to the point of being smoothbore and the only part of the gun being oiled is the firing pin, operates somewhat reliably. Imagine how it would last you if you actually took good care of it.

Love Sig too, one of the best manufacturers who do hammers. I fanboyed a lot for Glock in this post but I promise Sig is just as good.

As for my EDC?
Cellphone, Wallet, Keys, obviously.
Small high power LED flashlight, folding knife.
Sometimes I'm paranoid about my house burning down and losing >muh dataz!!!1!1 do I carry an encrypted flashdrive sometimes with my class A docs and such.
Don't really carry a firearm since I'm usually working, thus either sweaty or in an establishment who would not appreciate it. But at that time I am usually carrying so many sharp, throwable implements I probably could make up the difference.

Normally I carry the usual wallet and keys, and I have two different gun setups I carry depending if the weather allows a larger gun or not.

Warmer weather:
Sig P365 Spectre Comp
Holosun 407k
Streamlight TLR7 Sub
TRex Arms Sidecar with extra mag wing

Cooler weather:
Shadow Systems MR920 FS
Trijicon RMR RM06
Streamlight TLR7 A
TRex Arms Sidecar with extra mag wing

Hope you have good aim, neat little thing though.

Seems discreet but packs a punch.

I everyday possess since I dont interact w/ society in any way for anything I cant get out of, an just stay the fuck home unless I'm in the desert. Open carry is legal in Las Vegas although I wouldnt be an attention whore like that. Plus the heat & I'm skinny and anything big enough to one shot stop is going to look like a growth. I have like 25 guns (I know)

Going to necro this thread for some VEDC

Recently I purchased a 2024 Outback. I am currently outfitting the car for my road tripping and daily dad needs so could use some advice on if I am missing anything. For storage I bought a behind the seat mountable organizer to quickly stuff baby things in. In the trunk area I have purchased 3 Plano Sportsman Trunk 56 Quart bins and will organize them based on the list below.

Baby box
-Diapers
-Bibs
-Wipes
-Spare bottle with attachments
-blankets
-Spare baby clothes
-Sunscreen
-Baby lotion
-Changing pad
-Disposable diaper bags

Car Box
-Utility Knife
-Gloves
-Tape Measure
-Jump Start Battery
-Air compresser
-Bungee cords
-Cleaners like Fabric guard
-Fix a tire
-Screwdriver
-Tarp
-Emergency radio

My Box
-Spare clothes
-Various electronics cords
-granola bars
-Boots
-First aid kit
-Febreeze
-Umbrella
-Towel

And stuff not in boxes
-Flashlight
-Paper towels
-Baby toys
-Small recovery shovel
-Foldable camping chairs
-Car emergency kit like flares, reflective triangles, tools to change tire with.

Call me autistic or consoomer, but is there anything thats missing here for most road tripping or out on the town errands with baby? We goto the park a lot and walk around, and I am not looking to make a bug out bag, just useful things that I may need from time to time. I did order a molle panel to attach to the rear seat to mount stuff like the shovel to but I am not sure how necessary that really is.
a space blanket .. .. wind up radio.. short ar15 with sling of magazines

Depends if I’m just going out for beer is different than my I’m going to be downtown for the day stuff but generally:

Glock 19 in a Haley incog holster loaded with 124 grain HST
Extra 17 round mag
TQ and quick clot
Phone/wallet
Prayer bracelet (been reading way too much magi chan stuff)
Kershaw blur folding knife
Toor Anaconda knife
Some small stream light pocket thing

I like cooler months because I get to toss more shit into jacket pockets. I should be carrying pepper spray more. I know it’s “girly” but it’s nice to have that extra means of deterring someone without lethal force but I keep it in my car’s cup holder area

I would also recommend a big orange tritium filled front sight of good quality if you don’t want to use red dots. If you're like me and have astigmatism that makes red dots useless, etched reticle prism sights are a godsend.
