I don't carry those. They live on and around my desk. Also included in the picture is some snuff that's mostly just for talking people into trying.

I have a MacAurther somewhere actually. Don't question my collection of retarded stuff.

Ready for my scouters. I'm not so much prepared as in love with carrying shit around.
In my pockets:
M&P Shield 9mm (1.0 version) (Just bought a Beretta Tomcat, but I think I'm gonna stick with the S&W)
Cobratec's shorter OTF, in purple, OR a CRKT slipjoint penknife
Leatherman Sidekick OR a Kershaw screwdriver (interchangeable bits)
Streamlight Macrostream
Wallet (contains SD Card along with the regular stuff)
Phones
Keys
Disposable lighter
Vape or cigarettes
Notebook and pen (normally a G2, but I'm getting into fountain pens)

If I'm in my hometown
Glock 19 open carried
Neck (CRKT peck) or belt (Maverick Customs Harpoon) knife

In the car:
My toss around AR,
North American Arms .22 revolver (for carrying when I really shouldn't)
Spare mags for everything, chargers and stuff
A couple dozen more lighters (this is incidental)
Fire extinguisher (started as a joke after I rolled my second car)
DSLR Camera (and lenses, batteries, ETC.)
Baofeng 8W radio, headset and charger
Spare tire and accessories, toolbox with ratchet and wrench set
Cooler (which I try to keep full, but usually only contains warm beer)
Several jackets, gloves, safety glasses, ear pro
Clothes and toiletries to go a few weeks on couches or a few days inna woods
Pipe, tobacco for pipe
Also I'm stupid and need to get a first aid kit for the car. And it's a car, not a truck, which I also need. God forbid if I'm going to stay with family for a few weeks. Then the amount of guns balloons.
I keep meaning to add a Baofeng or similar radio to my kit. Right now, I've just got a pair of Midland GMRS radios in the truck.

Also, it took a while for me to come around to a truck as a daily driver, but now that I've been doing for a while, I totally get why it's a thing. Having a giant box for whatever you need to haul while also seating five and being able to drive over pretty much anything is pretty great.

How's your gas mileage? That's been the biggest reason I've been reluctant to switch

16.5 mpg all day every day regardless of whether it's city or highway. Not great, but I bought the ridiculous off-road version and if I'm honest, the rest of the experience makes me not give a shit about that.

So, knives.

I'm looking for something that folds, with a 3.5in blade (longest I can conceal in WA). It needs to be a pocket knife since its mostly for the endless uses I've found for knives, ideally one sided blade but a good point is a plus, but most importantly a very very very solid guard since I don't want any fingers slipping past the guard, and something that locks up really good so it won't fold back on me. Am willing to compromise deployment speed for solid lockup, though speed and/or a fluid motion to deploy would be nice (no gravity knives or switch blades though).

I found this online which at least has a guard similar to what I'm looking for, the blade is just a little bit 5 inches which is too long. I'm also not sure about the locking mechanism but that's obviated by the blade being too long.

Let's assume price no object, any particular manufacturers and/or keywords I would want to be looking at for something like this? I've not dove down the knife rabbit hole so I've got no point of reference to work with and very open to suggestions.

The CRKT M16 series has some options with the sort of double sided guard you're looking for. They're also all assisted flippers with a liner lock so that shouldn't be a problem too.

Also, the Kershaw Fatback doesn't have the same style of guard, but the flipper is particularly large and should keep your hand in place pretty effectively. Not fancy steel, but also not priced like fancy steel, so if you manage to break/lose it, a new one isn't gonna break the bank and it's right at your 3.5" limit. I've bought a couple of these from Primary Arms when they're on sale for under $20.

Dude... Ouch 🤕

I've thought about a Ranger/Colorado/Tacoma but even today they're all a bit overpriced.

Especially the Tacoma.

Pretty much everything is overpriced now, yeah. As for the mileage, I'm fine with it, but I can understand being put off by it. The lower trims of the Colorado are significantly better on that front, but the ZR2 is it's own thing. The Trail Boss trim is probably the better overall choice, but I really wanted the dual lockers.

Thanks for the suggestions! I picked up a few different types including 2 of the CRKTs, and at less than $60 each I'm not super concerned about the pricing. My only kind of concern with the CRKTs with the 2 sided guard was all of them had a serrated section which I wasn't super in to (I'd imagine that's a bit difficult to sharpen, though I hope I'm wrong), so I got one that still had a chunky blade side guard but none on the top with smooth blade, just to see if that's enough guard for me.

I did discover the Luzon folders too, though I didn't pick one up because they are unfortunately 4-6 inches so not quite what I'm looking for, but definitely something I'll consider for "less urban" uses in the future.

Note: I work for a tactical gear company that specializes in leather accents so I get a lot of free shit, I promise I'm not shilling

Left to right:
  • Whiskey7 LWP S.P.E.C. Pack (EDC fanny pack)
  • Velocity Systems LV3 soft plate (I stuff it into the fanny pack to protec my balls and alternately my heart if I sling the pack up around my chest)
  • Phone
  • CRKT flipper, I don't recall which model
  • Glock 43x
  • 2x 15rd mags. My wife got a 43x on consignment and it came with those mags and she didn't like them so I took them. Not sure the manufacturer.
  • Chinesium flashlight
  • Walmart brand earbuds
  • Car key
  • Disposable vape and lighter because I can't get enough nicotine.
  • W7 wallet
  • Seiko Sport 5 that was an anniversary present but doesn't keep time for shit. I love it though.
  • W7 Ranchero gun belt. Has a little curv insert on one end for a holster to clip onto for better rigidity.

I have the mega auts when it comes to having stuff in my pockets so I prefer to carry everything in a bag or fanny pack like this.

Everything fits nicely except the stuff I wear or clip to a pocket.
The fanny pack has a nice magnetic fidlock pull on one side as well so taking it on and off is more convenient than reaching around to a buckle in the back.

okay, boomer.

So I really like the CRKTs though interestingly the one with the double guard is seeing far less use due to it's thickness, the thinner single blade-side guard one I bought mounts up nicely in some unlikely places without the pocket clip attached and feels just as secure in the hand, though it doesn't look as cool.

One thing I didn't think would be something I'd complain about is the pocket clips: on the CRKTs they are almost oppressively grabby to the point that I'm worried about taking the garment with it when I'm pulling out the knife, having it secure enough to not go anywhere is nice but JESUS they stick hard.

Yeah - the clips on all my CRKT knives are like that. You can try removing them and bending them a bit, but I just learn to live with it. That said, mine are either fidget widgets on my desk or stashed in packs or center console of a vehicle so the clips don't really come into play. My EDC knife is really just a super compact box cutter

He didn’t leave caps lock on, so not a boomer.
