Nice bait guys.

This is a serious issue though. It says something about the world's direction and what we can likely expect in other places around the world in the next 20 years.

Refugees are the consequence of inaction. Either the situation that causes them to flood your borders is addressed or you wind up with new permanent houseguests. It is that simple.

It's only a serious issue if your government brainfarts and lets any of them in.

Like your government is letting in people from China? They are rich right now, but soon you will be getting people from China who are not.

In the US we try to keep out the flood of people from Mexico. We deny that Mexico has a severe political problem, but Mexico does. The Mexican Government does not have real control over their entire country. Militias are being formed by citizens who do not trust either the government or the druglords. Our inaction with our Southern Neighbor is creating this.

Make no mistake, the Chinese Economy will only get worse. This is a collapse, and it will deepen.

@Ariel , please stop Cyberbullying @LikeicareKF . He is very sensitive and worries a lot about how you see him. Please be mindful of that.

The media portrayal has been a little odd, I don't want to sound like an asshole but there seems to be a disproportionate number of young working age men which makes it look there are also a lot of economic migrants too.

The thing that seems odd to me though is the media (Which includes reputable services like the BBC) seem to be completely ignoring the fact the refugees should be applying to the first safe country they get to and are instead portraying them as brave for breaking the law so they can get to the country they want to get to (The refugee in question I was watching was an attractive young women in her 20's who didn't want to apply for immigration status in a European country and was making her way to Sweden).

Nah it's not arseholish to point that fact out. Vulnerable populations (women children, elderly etc) I can understand, but the young men who should be fighting to make their country a better place should not be saying 'lol fuck this I'm outsies' and attempt to crash into Europe. The fact a lot of these 'refugees' are kicking up a fuss about countries like Hungary and the Czech Republic doing what they are bound to do by fucking law because they want to get into Western Europe as soon as also makes me question their motives.

Germany needs to stop being stupid though, I know they have a whole complex due to the holocaust, but for Godssakes they are being way too soft.

As for the media outlets, a combination of lefty thinking and fear of being labelled bigoted. The BBC are especially bad for this.

I always understood the term 'migrant' to generically refer to anyone who moves from one country to another, while 'refugee' obviously has more specific connotations.

Refugees have a legally protected status.

In the US we try to keep out the flood of people from Mexico.

Depends on your value of "we." Corporations love illegal Mexican immigrants, because they can pay them less than minimum wage and increase their profit margins.

Then puppets like Trump can denounce illegal immigrants to ensure their status as marginalized nearly-free labor gets preserved.

If it weren't almost impossible to start a profitable business in places like Italy and Greece, this cheap labor would have created a fantastic opportunity for economic growth. (Including new managerial and skilled labor positions for educated citizens.)

Make no mistake, the Chinese Economy will only get worse. This is a collapse, and it will deepen.

If that happens, they'll drag the rest of the world's economy down to hell with them (the market panic last week was just a teaser) and we'll all be eating sticks and bugs and burning iphones for heat and nobody will have time to give a shit about immigration anyway.

erecting a barbed wire fence along its more than 100-mile border with Serbia in a bid to prevent migrants crossing illegally as they make their way north.

look if i lived that close to sweden i wouldn't want to repeat their mistake either

Ya the young men leaving are smart. Unlike fighting the US or its allies, Assad and Isis actually go out of their way to attack civilians and vulnerable populations.

The US and allies kill innocents, but this is usually by accident. Assad and Isis do this by intent.

For a young man in that region your options are:

1) to die fighting a conflict with limited means and very powerful government backed forces or just groups using heavy military equipment

2) languish in a labor market that is still stuck with the burden of a 14th century economy and unemployment for you is 90%

3) flee to places where peace is common and the economies are considered modern and stable

Germany's and the west's unwillingness to confront Assad and allow Putin his puppet allowed this to spread. We can blame it on Iraq, but ISIS did not emerge to this level of strength until Assad started the wholesale slaughter of cities.

If that happens, they'll drag the rest of the world's economy down to hell with them (the market panic last week was just a teaser) and we'll all be eating sticks and bugs and burning iphones for heat and nobody will have time to give a shit about immigration anyway.

8% growth for more than 20 years. It was never sustainable. We can expect another US bailout.

I know it's naive, but part of me just wants to grab the leaders by the throats a scream, "fix your fucking countries!". Maybe part of the problem could be fixed if the people in charge and the elites got off their stacks of money and did something, there'd be less refuges. One day, they're going to realize that making the planet a third-world hellhole will bite them in the ass when there's no one there to buy their crap. Thanks, I needed to rant.

I was watching an academic on TV today and he said studies show part of the reason for the increased rates of illegal immigration is because poverty levels are at the lowest in history and people in these countries are informed (Mostly because of the internet) and rich enough that they can attempt to migrate in an attempt to make a better life for themselves which was the opposite of what academics thought before where they assumed if life was made better for them they'd be more inclined to stay and make a better life for themselves in their home country, although it changes if the standard of living gets high enough in their home country.

I'm so torn about this issue. On one hand, of course I feel compassion for these people, especially the ones from Syria (imo, Syrians and others from ISIS-infested territories are the ones we should really be focusing on). But when you consider that many of the migrants aren't from Syria and that literally every single picture taken seems to consist of 95% youngish, able-bodied men:

I can't help but feel a bit suspicious.

Like, if they're fleeing from persecution, where are all of the women and children? I don't get it.
