I agree, but there one of the only few places that actually wants to talk about things
This. I hate having to source infowars of all places but it seems they're the only sites talking about the refugee crisis.
Hell, most people in America don't know about the Cologne mass rapes since we got the Euro government trying to cover it up.

Lol this article is from 2011
Honestly the quality of sources in this thread is shit. I'm sorry but I don't trust breitbart or poorly sourced stories with "allegedly" in the title and a bunch of random stock/shock images with little facts or context.
I'm willing to believe there is media cover up but not willing to believe only shit tier right wing sites are the ones "brave" enough to cover it.
I'm not trying to pick on oglooger, most regular posters in this thread are guilty of this.

I gotta agree with Asandy on this one. Normally I'm very suspicious of sources that have a known bias (for anything, really; like, I'm not going to trust a PETA article that says that milk rots your ovaries or something) but I think it's pretty obvious that most liberal- and hell, even many non-biased- sources are fearful of being even remotely critical of the migrant crisis due to the charged political climate. Nobody wants to be slammed as an "Islamophobe" or a "xenophobe."

Do you remember the Rotherham rape scandal? It took a very long time for mainstream media sources to even touch it because of how controversial it was. People are just terrified of criticizing Muslims nowadays, and unfortunately, most of the time, the only ones willing to do it are rather extreme about it. That's kind of what we've been getting at in this thread; the lack of a balanced, critical, mainstream discussion on Muslim-related problems is a serious issue because it's driving people to become more far-right about the issue, because the far-right are the only people willing to talk about it.

But really, I've seen articles about the Cologne sex assaults all over the internet, as well as many other articles about migrant crime. I check google news feed every day and try to make sure it's not tailored to me specifically or anything like that. Granted, I don't watch CNN and the like but I am seeing a lot of news regarding refugees, and just so many of these right wing articles are setting off my bs detector. Most of my (American) friends have no idea what's happening in Flint, much less what's happening in Europe, and these are generally intelligent and educated people. That's not media cover-up, that's just general apathy.

My favorite thing about Internet atheists is how they'll scream and howl nonstop about fucking anything, no matter how minor, that Christians do that is arguably misogynistic.

Meanwhile, it's completely haram to criticize anything about Islam, even if it's brazenly Islamic gang rape of women. Somehow, we're supposed to put up with this.

Because. . .I forget. . .why is there even a reason for this? There isn't. They just start shrieking about Islamophobia or whatever.

Don't conflate different groups together. The New Atheists
inspired by people like Dawkins, Hitchens, and Harris are perfectly willing to criticize Islam or aspects of Muslim culture. Atheism+ is who you're thinking of. You've been in the gg and
SJW threads and I know for a fact that this distinction has been made there before. There are factions there like there are in every other group.

I agree on that. And don't forget Pat Condell, who is vociferously anti-Islam.

It's a welcome distinction, and I definitely meant the Atheism+ crowd when I said "Internet atheists," even though you're right that there's a just as prominent (and just as euphoric) strain of atheists more on the right who are a lot more willing to criticize Islam (or are in some cases just flat out bigots).

The fact that you have to look for something as horrible as cologne sex assaults instead of the mainstream media is just proof there is cover up.

Switzerland has followed Denmark in implementing a policy that will fine migrants 1,000 Swiss francs (roughly $1,000) in order to cover their living expenses. Please take the time to read the comments; even on an insanely liberal site such as the Guardian, people are voicing their support of this policy because it's not discriminatory in any way; it's what native Swiss people have to do in order to claim benefits. Of course, there are still plenty of people going "ZOMG YOU'RE SO FUCKING HEARTLESS FOR EXTORTING HOMELESS REFUGEES" even though plenty of people are pointing out that 1.) the Swiss are under no obligation to pay to feed, shelter, and cover the expenses of people who are not their own citizens and 2.) this is a measure to try and stop the flow of economic migrants who are taking advantage of the Syrian Civil War to land a cushy life in Europe.

This article goes over migrant complaints in the UK about being forced to wear wristbands to get food and shelter (so that non-migrants don't take advantage of the aid), the supposed discriminatory red doors marking migrant rooms (they were painted red literally 20 years ago and it's just a coincidence migrants got them), and other assorted ingratitude.

Again, I think it's really important to acknowledge that this is not the behavior of people who are supposedly fleeing for their lives; literally every single refugee I've ever heard of is grateful for every bit of aid they get and are careful to not take anything for granted because they know it might not last. Someone who has lost their home and valuables and is fleeing from an oppressing Islamic regime isn't going to whine about having to wear a fucking wristband (seriously, how is that any different from concert or hospital wristbands?) to get free food, rooming, and other accommodations in fucking Britain, one of the best places to live in the entire world.

Danish lawmakers voted Tuesday in favor of controversial legislation empowering authorities to seize cash and valuables from asylum seekers to help cover their expenses.

The law was passed in parliament by 81 votes to 27, with one abstention.

The passing of the so-called jewelry bill allows the seizure of valuables worth more than 10,000 Danish kroner (about $1,453).
Lawmakers also voted to triple the period of time before asylum seekers can apply for separated family members to be reunited with them in Denmark.

That measure, which extends the period from one year to three, is expected to have an even greater deterrent effect on potential migrants.

"The aim is to make sure that (fewer) people come to Denmark, if it's hard to bring your family," Henriksen said.

Personally I think that Islams don't deserve valuables in the first place.

The refugees (stop going a-log on them) should distributed fairly among the EU countries (no-one should have to take more than they have to or are able to, but also not less). If they commit crimes, the punishment should be swift and hard.
I disagree- the wealthy Arab states are closer to them in culture, religion and geography. They should take the lions share, if said countries need support to do so then perhaps eu aid could be offered.

Immigration from outwith the EU is not an eu matter and member nations should not be forced to adjust their national policies because Merkel decided to ignore the agreed procedures and welcome far more to Germany than she can control.

I never voted for merkel- her governments misguided ideology should not override that of the government whose electorate I am a part of and who I do have the option to vote for/against.

I've been avoiding looking at actual videos of the Cologne attacks, but I just watched this one. My blood is fucking boiling.

I want to shove this video in the faces of every single person who keeps trying to downplay the Cologne attacks or acts like said attacks aren't proof that we need to be much more discriminatory when it comes to who gets in our countries. If you can honestly watch a woman screaming in mortal terror while a mob of men gropes and shoves her into an underground entrance so they can have their way with her and not feel any anger or sadness, you don't deserve to live with the rest of us.

Some good updates, as detailed in these articles.
  • Sweden (!!!) plans to expel up to 80,000 asylum seekers. "Sweden received more than 160,000 asylum applications last year – by far the biggest influx in the EU as a proportion of the population. Between 60,000 and 80,000 of them will be rejected, the interior minister, Anders Ygeman, told Swedish media on Thursday."
  • Finland is following suit, planning to expel 2/3rds (roughly 65%) of its asylum seekers. Given the number of asylum seekers is 32,000, this means that around 20,000 will be expelled.
  • Germany will close its border to Algerians, Tunisians and Moroccans and will also prevent migrants from bringing their families to join them for two years.
Also, someone from the Guardian wrote about how mean and rude Denmark is for implementing its harsher policies (unsurprisingly, she's the head of Refugees Welcome Denmark). Check out the comments. Once again, it's almost unreal (but still very encouraging) to see commenters on a liberal site like the Guardian say "Enough is enough, we refuse to keep our heads in the sand about just how bad this migrant crisis is." Seriously, literally all of the top-rated comments are bashing the article.

the guardians comments have been out of step with the editors on immigration since the summer and on popular feminism for at least a year. About the only thing they remain stereotypically left on is support for corbyn. It says a lot about how persistent browbeating from certain people has really turned the public 'off message'.

You do know what the only solution is against these migrants and the heretics that defend them, correct?
you know it to be true. Deus Vult.

This is not in Germany. Apparently, it's the Tahrir Square in Egypt. Please make sure to double check your sources before sharing.

Can I get a source on that? Not that I don't believe you, I just can't seem to find information on whether it's in Tahir Square or Cologne.

In any case, the video showcases how brutal and dehumanizing taharrush is. Apparently, Egyptian women refer to it as "the circle of hell," which is probably the most accurate description you can give it. I cannot even imagine the terror those poor women (be they in Germany, Egypt, or any other country) must have felt... seriously, just try to picture being in the center of a mob of 20-200 aggressive, sexually frustrated, and absolutely merciless men as they all try to beat and molest you. I tried to watch another video, but couldn't make it to the end. I might be powerleveling but such blatant misogyny and violence towards women infuriates me.

Daily News Egypt published the same video on 2 July 2013.
But yeah, even if the video is not of Cologne, the fact that there are many videos of taharrush in other countries is not reassuring.
