AI art is an extremely practical tool, IMO: It lets people create images of damn near anything on-demand, at low cost, and without all the copyright bullshit that plagues human-made work. (And personally, I consider the fact that it makes digital artists seethe to be a bonus.) It’s also pretty fun just to do, in a slot machine kind of way.

But it’s also one of those things where what is extremely impressive to you is impressive to almost nobody else.

To you, that picture amazing because it’s representative of an idea you tried to describe in words, and what the computer spat out was almost exactly what you were imagining. Even better, sometimes!

To everyone else, it’s just a picture of a rocket or some good-looking chick in the rain.

It’s like telling people about the crazy dream you had last night: Really interesting and profound to you, and completely meaningless idiot ramblings to everyone else.

A timeline of the November 2025 insecurity incident.
It started with this post by a 87 year old writer.
1763028713651.png
Specifically she calls out that he never posts:
scenes from nature, pet dog or cat, praise for a movie, music, a book (but doubt that he reads); pride in a friend’s or relative’s accomplishment; condolences for someone who has died; pleasure in sports, acclaim for a favorite team; references to history
You might want to object that he sometimes posts about Rome, but he doesn't engage with its history. He merely vaguely gestures into the direction of the symbol "Rome" as it exists in the grifter sphere.

The first defense.
1763029405520.png
Elon read a book sometime prior to 2018, Oates is way out of line!
1763029486259.jpeg
More defensiveness.
1763029764542.png
He replies to this bug creature to call Oates a bad person for being mean to him (54 year old man btw).
1763030119408.png
He agrees with exaggerated praise for a shitty action movie..
1763030265440.png
Snopes fact check: Elon posted an animal in 2012 and once said "sorry to hear it" when some dickrider's friend overdosed on Fent a couple years ago. He also posted pictures of books he never read arranged on his night stand! Oates must be so boring IRL!!!!!
1763030507475.png
Praise for a guy! Elon is so warm!
1763030645997.png
Elon read a couple books when he was 17... 37 years ago. Oates is spreading dangerous misinformation by claiming he doesn't read!
1763030725220.png
Another movie.
1763030965194.png
Another one.
1763031018519.png
Does falling for engagement bait count as appreciating scenes from nature?
1763031112478.png
He is such a nice guy.
1763031788001.png

After that his timeline went back his usual: his companies' products, ragebait botslop, and artificial women.

Amazing idea. Let's have Indians monitor rapists who are otherwise free to walk the streets.

Tesla cars are sentient. Also, apparently some people now consider their car their child.

He agrees with Trump's controversial statement that there are no talented people in the US, which is why they need H-1B visas.

The statement:

Grok can determine the intrinsic value of tweets. That's quite amazing, some people would think that's impossible by definition.
1763032409819.png

Edit: Someone said he posted that AI clip of a woman saying "I will always love you" at 3am local time of where he was. I think that's too funny to verify.

Elon is desperately trying to prove he's a human being right now, but he still couldn't found a single tweet (from his hundreds of thousands) where he posts or talks about a song he likes.

But since Elon is not a human with a conscience, he's very predictable. Once his retard AI starts shitting garbage songs like Suno, he's going to spam his timeline with retarded music every day.

One of the best writers “in recent years” according to him famously has not published a book this decade. He’s also very very very famous for having his unfinished story be a show on HBO. Muh literary genius.

His book and movie choices are so stereotypical too. I bet he thinks Fight Club and American Psycho are masterpieces. All books and stories about men whipping their dicks out in competition but Elon misses the indictment of those same men by the writer. He is incapable of reading between the lines, when he “totally reads all the time bru.” Then he adds The Odyssey? Did he just get out of high school?

No books about humanity, race, the interaction between humans. No, strong man fight alien! Strong man fight for throne! Grrrr men men men. Gay as shit.

Add to that the glazing over James Watson, and I’m convinced he knows nothing period. Just comments on stuff he thinks will make people think he’s smart.

'I have been given nothing".

Motherfucker, we all know your father made a fortune in emeralds. Why do all these rich fucks pretend they are Scrooge McDuck, starting a fortune with nothing but a dime? Even Bill Gates and Steve Jobs did this shit - acting like they started from the bottom even though they both got started with loans / handouts by the Bank of Mommy & Daddy.

I think Elon's weakest (and funniest) attempt at a clapback against Joyce was to accuse her of being "an abuser of semicolons!". MAN, YOU SURE GOT 'ER WITH THAT ONE, ELMO! MOVE OVER, DOROTHY PARKER!

"work life balance is le bad". Believing in that horseshit is a red flag and what do you know, Musk has it too.
Musk and most people who say this are liars. That man spends his every waking moment on Twitter. He’s not working 95% of the day but he’s working hard to sell this concept to idiots under him who will do all the work and sacrifice their lives so Elon has time to make grok AI lolis.

I think he's trying to say having a group of satellites (wouldn't it make sense to say cluster than constellation?) could block the sun reducing the rays that reach the Earth, therefore mitigating global warming. I'm no astrophysics expert but I can make a pretty good guess that this is retarded as fuck.
ur probably better off trying to place a 3.8 million square km sunshade in the L.1 point

make it out of moon regolith, build and launch it from the moon too (u can't build a structure of this scale if ur gonna launch the parts from earth)

i honestly wanna see elon try and fail this monumental task

It's funny that this is so prevalent among the grindset gurus and techbros. They're either coping about not cutting it or are larpers. Example - Frank Ramsey (the mathematician) made great contributions to maths, philosophy and economics before his untimely death at 26 while working 4h a day, dedicating the rest to hobbies and wife (Source).

Not saying everyone can work 4h days, but if you constantly have to pull all nighters and work weekends, maybe you're just not that good at what you do.

It is very easy to have a "work life balance" when you have someone else to clean your domicile, do necessary chores, can readily pay for all services such as household repairs (DIY? To them, that is copying code from github), teach and care for kids, and integrate social/pleasure activities with work, be it healthyish meals, going to the golf course because you are wheeling and dealing there, or "keeping updated with current events" (watching tv or twitter).

It is easy to have your life be work when your hobby IS work because it gives everything you need in a package tailored to your autism.

It is fucking impossible if you have a real job like working at a factory, farmer (unless rich enough to fully mechanize with employees), fast food, or are one of those coders grinding to meet a poorly thought out deadline.

if u can afford to start a farm, u can probably afford to hire a few farmhands

if ur in the US, theyre most likely undocumented mexicans, cuz they work for really cheap and don't demand silly things such as "rights" or "fair wages"

yeah, they may be lazy, but u can threaten them with giving a call to ICE if they are too lazy
You are not speaking from experience or a place of knowledge.

What if you could have sex with a pet?
1763230355663.png

I think this sort of thing might be a result of social isolation and a lack of "going outside" more broadly. It's no longer possible to fantasize about scenarios where one hooks up with a friend, or a coworker, or meets someone at the store or a social event.
The only people that are available are those that exist in the household, and those who live alone (and perhaps even work from home) are reduced to dreaming about their pet somehow becoming a woman they can have sex with.
Maybe I think too highly of gooners, but I wonder whether the "sibling" or "step parent" phenomenon in pornography draws from the same cause, at least partially. It's not possible to imagine starting or being in a relationship, so the partner has to be someone who is there by default.

Artificial Koreans are a trend now. Funnily many real K-idols look about as fake as the CGI ones.

It's especially funny to me, because Elon likes to try and flex with his "nerd cred" when a common complaint amongst nerd culture is the focus on flashy graphics ultimately harming their mediums, like video games that focus too much on graphics and not enough on gameplay, or in movies, how CGI and the like is always less impressive than practical effects. Elon sperging about how great and fascinating AI is just really shows how little he actually appreciates creativity.

IMO, AI art has some uses, but very limited ones. I'll sometimes use AI generated stuff when generating tokens for board games and I can't find a good official image to resize to fit the token. For throwaway tasks like that, yeah, it's fine, but I'll never look at one of those tokens with the same level of respect or admiration as someone who actually drew something because it isn't nearly as impressive. It's like with CGI, yeah, sometimes people will acknowledge how good something looks, but the praise is usually nothing compared to a movie that does something with practical effects instead because, well, it's real. It being real naturally adds a whole other level of appreciation, even if the effect isn't as "grand" as something you can generate with a computer. And I'd even argue that example is kinda unfair to AI art, because creating CGI at least involves someone putting in effort and not just inputting a few words into a text field.

At most, I'd say it's impressive that AI technology is capable of producing artwork in a few seconds. I can acknowledge it's pretty impressive how far AI generation has come, but, the actual products it makes are often just so...bland and empty.

One thing I think is a reasonable use is (with the VA's permission) creating a voice model for them for vidya, especially with games with lots of DLC that are constantly adding things, and you don't want to bring in the whole VA team to have some bark that a character makes when they pick up the new weapon.

So long as they're paid for it, and agree to it, this sounds totally fine.

I don't know if it's a thing anyone else noticed but a lot of these tech bros are just plain dismissive of creative works outside of surface elements and even admitted that they don't care as long as their endorphins are tickled, which is essentially a consoomer mindset. I'm not even saying this as some kind of fine art snobbery because even with commercial art, you can still appreciate the work that goes into it. It's like that lady said, Musk (and by extension other techbros) don't seem to actually like anything.

I came across this app that makes a digital puppet of your relatives and the creators were eviscerated with how inhuman it is; one of their defenders somehow missed the entire point of the Mufasa scene in The Lion King.

“I work hard, like every waking hour,” Musk told the graduates. He explained his mindset like this: “If somebody else is working 50 hours [per week] and you’re working 100, you’ll get twice as much done in the course of a year as the other company.” He said it's just “simple math.”
Can this dipshit be even more full of shit?

Definitely agree - I was making a jab at the tech dipshits claiming you need to work 100h weeks or you won't accomplish anything (see Elon's posts itt). Someone needing overtime to make ends meet or facing unreasonable deadlines is in a different situation.

Thread tax - I find the spending time with kids the most unbelievable part of this otherwise totally true story:
