Either we finally get some fucking Animal Crossing news or I personally destroy every Switch left in the country.

Looks like threatening Nintendo worked after all. I think New Horizons looks fucking fantastic, though there are a few Pocket Camp-esque additions that make me a little bit hesitant (like shaking the fruitless trees and getting wood, crafting your own materials, etc). I'm a bit worried about the game becoming a crafting simulator a la Terraria/Minecraft/what-have-you, but other than that, most of the new content looks really amazing. What do you guys think?

I'm looking forward to it. I think there's gonna be enough fresh features to keep it interesting.

I'd be okay with it so long as it's only part of the game experience and once you get to a certain point you can still get furniture and items from the residents and/or buy them at a shop... you just need to build the initial shops and houses first, and then it expands out. Might be interesting too if your character can craft items to sell for bells as opposed to spend all day fishing, but that be game breaking if not properly implemented.

And on the complete opposite of the gaming spectrum - looks like Wolfenstein Youngblood is going to have microtransactions, because of course it is.

Wolfenstein: Youngblood has in-game currency that you can spend to upgrade your guns

Wolfenstein: Youngblood, a new co-op shooter from MachineGames and Arkane Studios, is coming out later this year at a budget release price. It looks like Bethesda is hoping to make up for that launch price with a range of optional microtransactions.

As well as skins and emotes, the game allows you to spend coins you find dotted around the levels to unlock weapon upgrades and attachments. However, you can skip this process entirely by purchasing gold bars with real money, which you can then use to shortcut through these upgrades.

MachineGames senior game designer Andreas Ojerfors says this is balanced in a way that it’s entirely optional, though.

“I’ve been playing through the game at work for the last two weeks and I haven’t done any microtransactions,” he told me during a roundtable interview. “You don’t really need to, but they are there if you want to, if you want to speed things up. But I never felt the need to do that. When I play the game it doesn’t even cross my mind.”

It doesn't seem mandatory as the nooks still sell tools and furniture
That said, I'm happy that something else to do has been introduced as the games are pretty empty and that we can do things with items other than sell them, it also hopefully means I'm not stuck waiting a fucking IRL week to get my hands on a net or fishing rod.

What concerns me is that the later part of the trailer showed the other townspeople presumably moving in. I dunno, it makes it seem as though as soon as the townspeople move in and the island becomes more settled, the idea of being on a deserted island with crafting will fall by the wayside and the game's main selling point of starting on a desert island will be undermined. That said, I do think it's cool that it goes a step further than New Leaf, which made you the mayor of an already established town, and basically makes you the founder of a new one. And some of the items seem cool too, like the pole that allows you to cross rivers without a bridge.

Everything about this game screams budget title, from the lowered retail price to the bizarre trailers, so this is just icing on the shit cake.

I like the idea of a "deserted island" but I agree that the Pocket Camp esque elements make me a little wary. I usually hate crafting, so I hope the player doesn't have to chase down extremely rare material drops or, god forbid, be offered the option of microtransactions instead.

There's rumors of the next god of war game involving kratos riding a dragon over the open world world as a means of transportation and they apparently have an on foot boar fight done for a demo of the first boss. There's also something about brewing alcohol to buff yourself like Witcher potions.

Horizon Zero Dawn's sequel may have underwent a drastic redesign dunno if it's related to the visual style or gameplay but they may have restarted development. It also may have been under Kojima's guidance and recommendations that this restart was allowed.

Either way quarter 4 of 2019 and what's known for 2020 is shaping up to be one hell of a year.

That might as well be a dirty word by this point. Microtransactions in Animal Crossing would be the ultimate slap in the face to a game series that has, for the most part, remained pretty untouched by the money-grab tactics of the current gaming here. I really hope things don't go that way.

I noticed that some aspects of Happy Home Designer have been included, like placing furniture outside, and more precise furniture placement, so hopefully ceiling items return as well. I'd like to see the different town venues return with the ability to customize them, but that's going to be a bit much, I expect. The graphics update is huge, though. And it's going to take a while to get used to animal villagers wearing clothes with sleeves.

I'm extremely good at avoiding microtransactions so if they include it I'll never use them anyways.

Even though I don't play cell phone games, Nintendo been one of the least greedy of the mobile game market. Nintendo knows that not milking its users with Microtransactions and DLC is one of its strengths for as it gives value for their standalone games and makes their actual DLC worthwhile. Its a good reason why you see more EA/Ubisoft games in discount bins than Nintendo ones.

Now I missed most of E3. But I did see Jim's coverage of Bathesda....and holy shit they really think releasing ANOTHER mobile game is something to be hyped about? I saw nothing other than Doom eternal that was even close to promising. which is probably why they paid that asshole to fucking awooo at everything to make it seem like they have fans who care about their dumb shit.

I just wonder if there will be a reboot even worst than Commander Keen and Battletoads yet to be announced.
A new Syndicate reboot where you #bashthefash with a #milkshake

I kmow this is off topic in this thread, but i wonder if movies and video games(including Wolfenstein) with the "all nazis are bad and subhumans" trope are promoting communism and other marxist teachings?
I doubt that's the case for most things, but for certain woke companies it is. Part of the reason Wolfenstein New Colossus was hated was because they said in interviews they changed the game in the wake of Trump. They also Tweeted a bunch of antifa nonsense.

Got a source on the antifa crap? All I recall is the typical #FuckNazis shit also, did they ever confirm if MAGA directly impacted development, I thought Pete Hines and Co. just added it to the advertisements to satisfy ReeeeeeeeEra
