Weird enough the japaneses are freaking out because the PC engine was big there and are waiting for preorders

Zelda for some reason just ends up that way, with TP and BOTW, so I wouldn't be shocked if it happened again.

My main two wishes mechanic wise are more exploration tools as while climbing is nice and all for awhile, I want the game to make the exploration more interesting as we develop. Ravali's gale was the best upgrade overall because it let you ascend into the air immediately to rapidly scale things or glide over a cliff. Hookshit should become a thing as a climbing hook of sort and/or something that lets you try to swing yourself upwards instead of slowing climbing up hills. To me because this is a very exploration heavy game, the exploration needs to evolve with your progress not just combat options or stats.

I want the champion weapons to be truly unbreakable because they let you always have access to their weapon type, even if they're not amazing you always have them so they feel more special than just being really w/e weapons that you only use for a little while. They just felt like really crappy rewards and I think that should have been more special, even if champion weapons aren't a thing I think having unbreakable mid tier weapons is perfectly fine even if the rest of the weapons can break as long as they're rewarded in the right sort of content.

Hookshot would be a welcome addition to the toolset. It would be interesting to see the interactions they can do with that beyond making it easier to move around.

I also had an issue with weapon degradation. I mean, for regular stuff it's okay (maybe up their sturdiness a bit more - even metallic weapons shatter in like 30 or so swings, oof). It's even worse with the Master Sword - you mean to tell me if it's not charged it suddenly turns limp and flaccid? Yikes. They could probably do something like balancing between weapon power and hardiness for champion weapons/MS, similar to how if the MS is not within Guardian range it drops down to 30 power (base, pre-Trials). Maybe make it a 20 base power sword that doesn't break then it goes up to 60 when charged, something like that. At least reward the player for grinding and getting the 13 hearts needed to get the sword in the first place by giving him/her something that doesn't break/can't be used while uncharged. Or just use what Witcher 3 did - weapon doesn't break, but the damage goes down until you have it repaired. I'm guessing players will still switch between weapons they have and weapons dropped by the enemy when the degradation sets in for what they're using currently.

I've only seen the Turbo Grafx in magazines, no retailer bothered to import that over to where I am back in the day. Are there good games for it? I know next to nothing about its library.

To own tg16 and PCE games in a modern physical form is desperately needed.

Fucking gaijin(who are not me) bought out all the old stock for parts and everything, the cards reader can be easily broken due to the age of the system.

Fucking youtubers and their fucking ~*HIDDEN GEMZ*~

I hope one of these has the Valis games on them. Splatterhouse is a given I'd say.

I have a suspicion a remaster of the original game might be coming down the line. MS/Rare could use the extra marketing boost from the nostalgia trip and channel it into sales.

Especially since Nintendo is not really a competitor to Microsoft as Nintendo is a Portable/home hybrid and Xbox is a pure home experience. It would net Microsoft profit porting less demanding games to the Switch since its more quality portable device than Tablets and Cellphones.

This wouldn't surprise me, the PC Engine was king during it's reign.

I knew a Children's Palace that had this down their video games aisle back in the day!

There are plenty of great games on the TG16, both on the card and CD. It has some great 2D platformers like the Bonk series, Legendary Ax, and my personal favorite Jackie Chan Action Kung Fu and 2D shooters. The CD did a great job of using the audio and storage of the CD to enchance the gaming experience better than most of the Sega CD library and its focus on FMV over gameplay. The YS games and the Castlevania Rondo of the Blood still hold up for me. Even though there was a handful of Western develop games, its mainly a Japanese developed library more than the SNES or Genesis/Mega Drive.

Imagine my hype after all these years learning that Phantasy Star Online 2 was finally announced as having a western release. Now imagine my heart shattering like another failed love quest when it is USA only and for Xbox one and windows 10.

Fuck you Sega, Fuck you!
Wait, seriously? Why do my hopes keep getting shit on? BURNINGMONK1.gif

PSO2 is basically Japan’s version of Skyrim, they have it on literally everything from hand helds to even a cloud based version on the switch.
I just hope sega don’t drop ban hammers on people playing outside the US like they did with people playing on the Asian English servers before they shut those down.

It makes considerably less sense than that. London has become an authoritarian police state, but at the same time "the government has fucked off and extremists are grabbing power. Organized crime is slicing up the boroughs."
Are Ubisoft games moddable? Imagine if you have a mod that put it in a setting with no political horseshit (although there are cctvs everywhere already, they don't have freedom of not much and they just Ben through an authoritarian(esque) government and you can bet your ass they will have other governments like that in the future)

My hope is they focus on making the world less empty, or invert the way BotW worked if that makes any sense. This is a direct continuation of the forst one as far as anyone can tell, and it might use roughly the same world. Establish trade routes, consolidate settlements, make the world smaller so the somewhat more human and maybe more tactically sound antagonist doesn’t destroy the inns and shit you bummed around in last time. Maybe the undead Ganondorf angle means there’s a zombie army now and you have to track down totems or phylactaries and jam your glowing arm in them to keep the Scourge from getting worse and wrecking shit.

Sorry if that was rambly. I don’t think anyone had any idea that this was in the works, and I think recontextualizing the giant, varied, empty world they made is a more interesting idea than just making another one at this point.

None of those nerds sound good as Avengers except the chick, she's as bland as ScarJo,

Its Laura Bailey. She lacks range. Doesn't sound even close to Scarlett at all. Tired of hearing her in every video game. Same with Troy, Nolan, and Travis. Overrated.

Is that Collection of Mana worth getting? Never played the Mana series but I like JRPG's. It reminds me of Chrono Trigger and FF...and Shining Force.

Anyone else think 2020 will be the last E3? Cause this one was about a 3.5/10 to be honest.

I've been watching a lot of the usual YT vidya talky bois and the general consensus is that "it's an off year," "it's the end of this generation's cycle," "expect 2020 to be much better."

I'm not taking that as absolute gospel, but I will agree that this year was incredibly dismal.

I think a lot of that just boiled down to the fact that so much of this was one step forward and two steps back.

"We're bringing back Commander Keen for you older gamers.... and it's going to be a mobile game."
"The Battletoads are back... and it's created by a D-list studio with an art style that looks like it was done by Cal-Art dropouts."
"Shenmue 3 is almost here... and it's an Epic Store Exclusive, go fuck yourselves kickstarter backers."
"Hey look everyone, it's Sam Fisher... as a character in another fucking mobile game."
"Hey we got an Avengers game made by a competent studio... annnd the characters look like cosplayers and VA'd by the same VA's that you seen in every other AAA game. Be impressed or something."

Not saying it was all bad, but this year left a LOT to be desired.

And just because I don't want to double post, where are you spergs ranking the presentations this year? My list...

1) Nintendo - solid, packed presentation. "A-"
2) Square-Enix - excellent performance, for staggered a bit, especially with a blah "Avengers" presentation. "B+"
3) Devolver - Yeah, they only showed like 3 or 4 games, and I''m not entirely sure this counts as a conference, but whatever. "B"
4) Microsoft - Pretty much they got here because of Cyberpunk 2077, Keanu Reeves, and managing to not set themselves on fire. "B-"
4) PC Gaming Show - Nothing truly stood out, but outside of the Shenmue 3 bitchslap, it was... fine. "B-"
6) Ubisoft - They managed to make an actually interesting looking Watch_Dogs game, and unless you're big into Tom Clancy games, the rest of the show was pretty bland. "C+"
7) EA - Congratulations EA, you're not the worst showing somehow, despite wasting everyone's time. "D."
8) Bethesda - I want to rate them higher because Doom Eternal looks pretty neat. I want to rate them higher because the trailers from Tango and Arkane looked pretty keen. And I want to rate them higher because I'm pretty sure I won't hate the latest Wolfenstein game, despite feeling like it's completely missing the point. But I won't because I'm fucking tired of their smug bullshit and trying to act like they give a fuck by repeatedly throwing up this "we're just one big happy community of gamers" smokescreen. No. fuck you. You fucked up Fallout. You're fucking up Elder Scrolls, and you're fucking lying and acting like you're the great innovators. Assholes, you're riding on the coattails of greater developers than you and you're taking all the credit for it. You disingenuous swine. Get fucked. "D-"

I think the only thing anyone liked from Bethesda was Doom and the Ghostwire lady.
