So you want to recuperate it when it's on its last legs.
Everyone and their mom knows the woke fix is bullshit in any game right now.
I want the game to succeed so they could make more fugly remakes with noob features on modern tech.
Stuff like Dragon Quest deserves some mainstream spotlight, especially in these depressing ass times and the more DQ out there, the better.

I agree, I want more Dragon Quest too, especially since good AAA turn-based JRPGs are pretty rare (and have been a while). But when even Horii is complaining maybe it's better to punish these faggots than get this weird genderless localization nonsense forever.

Horii complaining is the punishment and a sign that the fags are on their way out. A year or two ago that whole interview would probably have been nuked from existence, now everyone just stopped caring.
Either way, the souless corporate hacks will only care about money and seeing DQ isn't some technical colossus and should be easy to make, especially with an established base engine and assets, it shouldn't take that many sales to convince the publishing golems to greenlight more remakes.
At best, the message will be clear that nobody wants woke shit anywhere, it doesn't sell, it harms sales and no more of that shit ever again.

While I agree that this shit is on it's way out, and the handling of it in this game is hilarious ("you know Type A means Male, right? No? Ok restart the game and try again."), they did absolute nuke that interview from orbit.

The person who subtitled it deleted EVERYTHING on his social media and posted an apology written by a lawyer in JP and English and then logged out forever.
The radio station who did the 7 hour interview removed it from multiple video hosting sites it was officially on -- Youtube, Nico Nico, Twitch, etc etc.
Every Japanese news article I found that was talking about Yuji Horii and "Type A" was deleted within about 24-48 hours after the clip got retweeted by Elon. Not people talking about the clip. People talking about the 7 hour event and mentioning that Horii had a problem with the changes.
The Dragon Quest Reddit banned any mention of the interview, any links to it, or any discussion of the controversy.
The interviewer, a DJ at the radio station Yuji Horii does a weekly show at, posted a screed about the evils of people clipping the interview out of context.

The only reason the file still exists is that someone on Nico Nico restreamed it to their youtube account with the comments enabled, and it was archived before they deleted it a few days later, and someone found that the Wayback Machine had been used on the Youtube channel of the TGS stream and Wayback archived the original 7 hour video. Even then, where I saw it uploaded was the Internet Archive and Rumble because they're copyright striking people who post it to Youtube.

It was completely deleted from the Japanese Internet. They do not want the fact that Yuji Horii, arguably one of the most important people left at Square Enix, thinks their vaunted Diversity push is fucking retarded.

God bless the internet archiving people then.
Funny how all this damage control means nothing when even one person still has that interview on their hard drives. If anything their reaction only validated the interview. You can bet plenty of Japanese feel the same way too, this isn't some random franchise they're shitting up. Dragon Quest is a big deal there.
Speaking of which, what are the reactions to the demake there? Is negative coverage also getting struck down?

God bless the Streisand Effect.

On a side note, how long until Squeenix removes Denuvo or until it gets cracked?

That took longer than I expected.

Surprising number of other mods showing up. Removing the arbitrary limit to characters in the Tavern. Disable the VA lines during combat (no more screaming attacks like Pokemon). Adjusting the random encounter rate (apparently some areas are set to have just insane encounter rate by default).

The game has apparently what amounts to Steam Workshop support built in, but hidden. "Pak" folder inside the Steam release.

Even the fucking Game Boy Color gave enough of a shit to give weapons unique icons.

Squenix removes Denuvo after 6 months, almost on the dot. We might get it sooner though, apparently some new breakthrough in Denuvo cracking just recently occurred and it is freeing many games that have languished in Denuvo hell for quite some time.

A bit of an autistic thing to fixate on but I remembered really liking the weapon symbols for DQIII GBC as a kid. Very lazy to just make all weapons the same symbol when I'm pretty sure VIII-onwards used special symbols for each

They don't even have item icons anymore. You know, the little image box you see when you highlight each item in your inventory? They show them briefly when you find them in a chest or in the environment, so they have the sprites in the database already. They've been using the same fucking icons for who knows how many games now, so it's not like they have to make a whole bunch of new item icons or anything. And like you, it's also something I enjoyed looking at, even though it didn't affect the gameplay in any way.

Also the....was it 7 or 8? Or both. Both. Having the already established characters so none of this troonery afoot. The English VA work for 8 was stellar and I'm glad Blake Ritson and American born British Jami Bamberkoff (Triss in Witcher 3) returned for DQ Warriors.

Amen, thank God for autists.

That seems minor but is frankly emblematic of the lack of care on display. Also, is it just me or is every turn-based RPG they make using the same terrible font and/or UI? It's so bland and bad. I could've swore it looked the same in Lost Sphere and I Am Setsuna.
