The only thing that was acceptable for this game was a concord level failure, this isn't that bad.
It was never going to have a Concord level failure, all it really needs is to lose money. Now, would I have loved to see it crater? Absolutely. But it didn't. And the fact they haven't come out with anything brag worthy regarding numbers is pretty telling.

Dragon Age isn't a massive IP but it is a AAA RPG from a huge publisher from a storied legacy IP with two GOTY winners in the prior releases.

80K is pretty slim. Especially with other AAA RPGs coming out in recent years from less notable IPs having higher numbers right out the gate.

Now, we simply won't know whether or not it did well enough to be considered a success until a month or two from now. There's every chance it did sell well enough to turn a profit, especially if you factor in consoles. But to pretend like this isn't a fairly lukewarm start to Dragon Age, which is not the biggest IP but still performed worse than things like Cyberpunk, or Starfield, which are brand new, or BG3, which is an IP attached to a franchise that's much older and much more forgotten, as well as half as accessible, I think people are right to be suspicious that it might be selling poorly.
Also, 10 pushups to sweat?
They also got lazy. I think she only actually does 5 in total.

I've only watched people play the beginning of this game.
Does the game explain why the "Veil Jumpers" faction knows that the old elven Gods were tyrants and that Solas was rebelling against them?
Evanuris.mp4

I know they aren't exactly Dalish, but I thought the main Dalish understanding was that Fen'Harel was despised as a traitor and the other elven Gods were good guys.
Did they retcon this, do they explain this, or am I misremembering the lore?

Could you clip two parts of mauler's stream? Between 3:20:00 and 3:20:45; and between 3:24:11 and 3:25:05. It really hammers home the MCU humor and how nobody seems to give a shit. There's a quip everytime.

Dragon Age Origins was the game that got me into WPRGs and CRPGs. It was thanks to that game i got into Star Wars knights of the old republic and made me a Biowear fan. i was really excited for dragon age 2 only to have that dream crushed when they decided to turn it into a ARPG made for consoles to get the Call of Duty audience. Looking at the game now, Its still bad in many aspects but it has a charm to it with the character dematic between characters and the gameplay itself was not that bad. out right makes it look like a good game compared to Veilguards gameplay. Inquisition was just a failed MMO turned single player and did the very opposite of two by making all the maps bigger. too bad there was nothing in those maps worth exploring.

Not played Veilguard yet but will as soon im done playing other games on my list. Yes i pirated it.

not sure if this was posted before (or if this is the copyright struck video from last page, i got this from /v/) but here's Isabela repenting for misgendering Taash.
Untitled video - Made with Clipchamp (2).mp4

In all my sperging out about demons and tieflings, I can't believe I missed this. This is fucking unhinged.

"It's not enough to apologise when you misgender someone, no, because that's just something you're saying so you can move on and get it over with. No, I want you to participate in a literal humiliation ritual, because if I could force you to drop and give me twenty like a fucking drill sergeant every time you called me 'he' instead of 'they', I 100% would."

Was writing a god not enough for you? Fuck off, Patrick Weekes, you actual fucking psychopath narcissist beardy-weirdy cunt.

I'm sorry to keep harping on about this, but I keep remembering things from the old Dragon Age games and then becoming newly annoyed by the absolute state of things today.

So, Isabela, right, spent all of Dragon Age 2 having a go at Aveline for being 'so mannish', and 'like a man', and being 'ugly, like a man would be' and 'You might as well be a man', and 'I bet you don't ever get any male attention because you're like a man', all because Aveline was a big butch warrior woman.

But now, we're supposed to believe she's some woke bae who's totally on board with non-binary people and fuck gender roles and all that shite?

How many Barves are you going to pull for poor Aveline, Isabela, you skanky pirate bitch!!

Drawing comparisons to [...] Baldur's Gate is ridiculous.

Again: Dragon Age and Baldur's Gate share common ancestry. Baldur's Gate is from an indie studio and was crowdfunded. Veilguard is from a AAA studio and while no one knows the actual budget, $100 million seems to be a reasonable estimate, especially considering the decade's worth of dev time. Baldur's Gate was faced with the same critiques of suffocating wokeness before it was released, only to shed that criticism in the face of the game itself being really great despite that. Dragon Age is a major fantasy franchise whose entire existence began as an appeal to old school Baldur's Gate fans, from the original creator of same.

There is no reason it shouldn't have been a major hit, if it had good gameplay, audience appeal, and delivered on the promise of ten years of anticipation. That didn't happen, for a variety of reasons, and comparing it to a game that sprang from the same roots and turned out to be a hit is both appropriate and instructive.

These would be some decent places to visit in a normal fantasy game, but I didn't exactly had "visiting Atlantis to rescue a probably gay Assassin" on my Dragon Age bingo-card.

Also reminds me of the fact that in previous DA games your Companions actually didn't like each other, really appreciate that in comparison to the no conflict fest going on in Troonguard. It's really the strongest indightment against the game, that is just absolutely weightless.

I perused the Dragon Age wiki last night to check if anyone from Origins worked on this turd, and unsurprisingly almost nobody who wrote and designed Origins worked on DATV, with many leaving the company around Inquisition or just before. I even noticed that Inquisition is when the series really nosedived in terms of the writing; DA2 was flawed, but given the extremely short development cycle it's impressive that they managed to construct something that was fun and compelling in its own way, even if it doesn't hold a candle to Origins. Unsurprisngly, many of Inquisition's writers wrote for Veilguard. There's a noticeable split between the old guard who developed Origins and DA2 and the new that worked on the last two games.

When Jason Schreier published his exposés on Anthem and Veilguard's development, one of the Bioware staff he interviewed commented on how intense staff attrition was at the studio, with many talented workers who aren't big names (animators, artists, technical designers, etc.) leaving for greener pastures. When you add this with the departure/layoffs of the big names that made Origins great - David Gaider, Mary Kirby, Mike Laidlaw (who quit when his original vision for Dreadwolf was abandoned), it's pretty much a guarantee that we will never see another good game from Bioware again. That fact will never fail to make me a bit sad.

Rate me fake and gay, but I don’t know how to archive. However, there’s a troon in the dragon age subreddit that said he cried when he played the tranny story. Just because he “felt let down and disrespected by BioWare.”

I assume you mean this one:

I assume the post was locked because the poster used the misgendering term "her" instead of "they".

I'm just gonna keep calling him, him, because even if he's the female of the species, he looks like a gay male.

I was going to do a kill-them-all playthrough, but I've decided to just see if I can just completely ignore Taash and see if I get any forced wokeness if I never interact.

Archive.is is taking forever to work, but I assume you mean this post. Which, despite having a ton of agreement in the comments, is, of course, locked.

EDIT: Ack, ninja'd.

Bellara is the quirky and annoyingly cheerful character.
When I watched this, I was thinking: Game, please take your story with some seriousness. If you can't, I won't.

What's not to believe? Uhmmm, 10 years is enough time for one's neghole to get pozzed, sweaty.

That quest would have been significantly improved if they let you beat the warden to death with a golf club.

None of the decisions in this game feel like they have any weight to them. Like in Mass Effect 3, where you visit the VS in the hospital because you don't want to have to shoot them later on. Or, obviously, the previous DA games

Well, i completed Iron Bull's quest and let die his team with Krem (fucking troon piece of shit, i'm glad she died; her tone is so forced and seeing her made my head hurts).
