I can't believe how in DA2 the only hetero options for wahmen are: a fucking straight terrorist who's imbued himself with a spirit of justice vengeance and a edgy warrior elf fuckboi.
Anders is funny cause if you play as female, he denies being in a sexual relationship with Karl. Tells Hawke, he was "just a friend" and he's 100% straight.

If you play as male Hawke, he admits that they were butt fucking, and Karl was his "first".... I like to think rejecting his homo advances are what causes him to blow up the chantry.

Anders in Dragon Age 2 is such a 180 from Anders in Dragon Age Awakening that I could only headcanon that this Anders's memories and personality are so warped by his fusion with Justice that he is creating false memories to justify his crusade against the Templars.

I actually grew to like Fenris over time despite him being the most Ow the Edge character I've ever seen. I had a friend who did a femHawke playthrough and kept trying to romance him using the "uwu poor baby" approach, which just made him hate her. In my own playthrough, I realized that homie didn't need a woman; he needed a bro, and I became his best friend just by not pitying him. You can reach near-Garrus levels of bromance with Fenris if you know how to talk to him.

The combat is DA:V is just dogshit. It removes all the elements that made combat worthwhile in previous entries, and somehow made it into some retarded hybrid of GoW and Mass Effect without the ability to use cover. It's just fucking terrible and repetitive slog.

I think you are putting way to much stock in the writers. Never played one of those two... I think awakenings. All I remember about Anders is him being a whiny then randomly walking up to me at the end of the game going " lolz I blew up a church we cool bro?"

Admittedly I barely interacted with him in my game but was legit one of the most what the fuck moments I recall. It took me out of the game so much I stopped playing after 2.

As a lifelong female dwarf enjoyer, shame. Screenshots and very few select cutscenes made that one chick out to be a cool character, but of course shit writing can ruin anything.

I really miss.. well, Bioware rpgs. A 3-5 man party with meaningful conversations and skill building that also isn't a TTRPG or otherwise ballbustingly hard game, so yeah, basically only Bioware (used to) make those.

China is an emerging market and will fill the hole that Western game companies are abandoning due to woke.
China?? Is there another China where the censorship hungry, anti video game CCP isn't in power? You can't be talking about the china that created laws to regulate how many hours kids under 18 can play video games?

A chinese company is also the biggest one in the mobile game market raking in fat stacks both worldwide and domestically with coomer bait. The CCP definitely likes to throw its weight around but they don't have a perfect stranglehold. I think it's kinda cope to expect that China would for the most part bring us based games rather than some wacky propaganda or weeb shit filled with chinese nonsense about cultivation. But if the gaming industry was more competitive, we'd probably be better off for it.

I find it fascinating that the Qun is treated as bad because…it’s basically a stand in for conservative gender roles/restrictions.

Not the drugging and mind breaking. Not the whole intolerant ideology or anything-that’s all so much fluff. But “gender roles that are socially enforced”-now that’s something the writers can rail against and make the Qunari come off as conservative or bigoted for.

Holy Hell-they somehow Woobified tbe Qunari and made them reactionary chuds at the same time.

How do you fuck things up this catastrophically?
Not just enforced gender roles. Enforced gender identity. Its been a while since I played any dragon age but I'm pretty sure its stated somewhere that the qunari view gender to be intrinsically linked with what job you fulfill in society.

And the other hand: you have a slutty pirate captain and a autistic mage blood elf.

At this point my next rogue run is basically hating everyone.
I still prefer Isabella pre-DA:V
Wasn't the dlc guy a ginger though? Gorls pretty much had to bang the pirate chick

Harding is still really cute, and the writing is only a problem if you don't skip it (that's on you)

Nah, he's a brunette. The lighting in certain areas makes him look auburn though. DA: O and DA: 2 have funky lighting issues. Leads to a lot of issues where people interpret things differently than what the devs intended.

It's also why everyone thought Isabela was a ginger in DA: O for the longest time. Cause I do remember people going "Huh?" when she showed up in DA: 2 with an almost total makeover from what a lot of people interpreted as a (tanned) ginger lmao.

But that's also not to say that the devs themselves just can't keep consistency in any capacity either. Look at Cullen, they didn't even keep the same eye colour for him in all three games he's in.

I've seen some respectable looking troon faces done by content creators, which makes me wonder why the promotional videos for this game all feature that hideous fivehead Troonari with alopecia or that hideous fivehead human troon with alopecia. Have their beauty standards slipped that low? Common sense would suggest that showing off the pretty will attract more customers.

Every time I check Steamdb the all time high is higher than the day before, and the dip in players is higher than the previous day. Anyone think the devs are fucking around and opening up alt steam accounts to fuck up the numbers?

It's been a while since I've played Inquisition, but if the "good" end of Veilguard is Mythal's spirit telling Solas he doesn't have to destroy the Veil and she releases him from her service, couldn't she have done that via Flemeth when they met at the end of Inquisition?

The combat is pretty horrible, reminds me of Mass Effect, Hogwarts, God of Soy, Guardians and not in a good way. Companions do fuck-all but at least they're invulnerable. Dodge, dodge, dodge, dodge, curse that there's no cover, dodge, finally get a shot in, dodge, rinse, repeat.
What? The companions are invulnerable? They can't actually die / be brought down in combat? What about controlling them? Can you still do that?

There have been various people giving their views on the actual gameplay and setting aside the Progressive politics. And the takes I've heard have varied from "it's bad" to "it's not that bad / it's okay" (high praise!) but for me it looks so utterly different from DA:O it's not the same game and I have no interest in playing it. Origins I could get a clear view of the terrain, I could position strategically, pause, set complex chains of commands, pull back a companion who was in trouble or rush to defend him. It was fun. I played on Nightmare and I remember some endboss demon in the Fade section that I had to micromanage the Hell out when I fought it and it was great fun. DA2 would have been an auto-buy for me had they not released a demo and I found all of that was gone. I played DA:I because they brought back some of what made DA:O great but it wasn't the same. Am I to understand that in Veilguard the companions are basically orbiting power-ups that just follow you around?

solas is now a servant of mythal? i guess she wanted him to kill her and suck up her soul in inquisition...

What really bothers me about the dialogue is that it has no flavor at all.
They all talk like American college students at a team building exercise.
In a medieval fantasy "RPG".
And that is without the low hanging fruit that garner the shitcake, literally using "trans" and "non-binary" in any game that is not set in either our present or future being completely insane.

The voice acting is strange too. Some characters are voiced quite well, but the Pajeeta mage with a prosthetic leg (yes, really) constantly sounds like she is falling asleep. Which is somewhat fitting, because she is easily the blandest character so far.
