There's something about black and asian elves that seems more DEI than if they were just human. Or is that just me?
Not just you, this sort of thing always shatters my immersion and suspension of disbelief, it just tells me that muh diversity and representation is a higher priority over making any logical sense within a setting and as such I can expect the product to be shit.

I prefer Elder Scrolls style elves where they actually look like a separate species with their own unique phenotypes, the DA2 elves looked dumb but I thought they had the right idea with trying to make them look distinct from humans, same with the Qunari (which unlike the elves looked really good in DA2 imo).

"Aw shieeeet nigguh. You seen what dat crazy ass nieeguuh Fenharel did? Niigeehh went on n'tore the veil and shieeeeet. Punk ass niggggeh started summoning demons and shieeeet. Ayyee yoo dawg, we'z gunna fuck dat mudafuken nigguh and his bitch ass Evanuris crew. We'z rollin' with griffins n'shieeeet nao. Teach 'em a lesson, fuckin' with Grove Street."

Unless Bioware is some human trafficking money laundering scam, which would partly explain why EA is still bailing their ass, if this game is a bust, it's over.
Bioware being used to launder money is honestly the only explanation I have as to why they're still open, when their only successes in the last decade have been the Mass Effect Legendary Collection, and Inquisition (yes, it was Mid as Fuck, but apparently enough people ate it up). A Remaster Collection in 2021, and the last gasp of "Bioware Magic" all the way back in 2014.

EA has shut down studios for significantly less over the years. Either there's some sketchy shit going on at Bioware, someone at Bioware has blackmail on an exec, or its the more boring answer of EA has run out of name brand studios and are keeping Bioware open until the DEI/ESG train runs out of money. With any luck, this is the game that puts them out of our misery.

It isn't just gonna flop, it's going to implode. It's abysmal.
I hope it goes the way of Concord, dramatic, sudden and beyond all expectations level of flop, has been "in development" for about the same time no? Probably about as expensive.

My pet theory is that Bioware is some high ranking nepo hire personal project. Need I remind you that at one point, EA renamed several of their studios to Bioware X in an attempt to cash in on their brand. They quietly walked back on that decision after ME:A though.

Oh I absolutely agree. I truly think it will be the final nail in the coffin. It's been a waste of money and time, and the final product isn't even going to be fun. It can boast about the story and inclusion and all that as much as it wants, but games are supposed to be fun.

There's nothing fun here. It's not fun for people who just wanna play, and it won't be fun for the people who don't care about mechanics but care about the story.

It likely cost more, not just considering the time spent but also the associated costs of restarting development and retooling the game into something completely different God knows how many times. Bioware is twice the size of Firewalk, though there's a good chance it's staffed by a revolving door of DEI hacks. We know Firewalk employs ex-Bungie people, though taking eight years to vomit out a product as content sparse as Concord calls into question their competancy and exactly what the heck they were doing.

Effectively selling zero copies is a huge hurdle to surpass. Suicide Squad might have lost money and Rocksteady is in the process of downsizing but even that game sold a few hundred thousand copies (at best). I don't think Failguard will fail (heh) as bad as those two but I haven't seen any hype for it. Dragon Age is kind of a forgotten IP that the coveted zoomer audience isn't that keyed on. If they're banking on nostalgiafags, that's not going to work, not with all of that bisexual lighting.

bets on how many copies it will sell?

I reckon 250,000 opening week, maximum.
It will be higher than that thanks to retards preordering it.

My bet is that it will sell well enough that people will lean on that number as proof that it's not a shit game. However the player count drop significantly very quickly, and there'll be a lot of demanded refunds.

Concord was slagged off for months, propped up by journalists and sold 25,000 copies to 60 million PS5 owners + infinitySteam players.

Are people going to drop £70 for a dead franchise that looks like a twink's fantasy game for mobiles?

Yes. Absolutely. 100%. I'm not kidding. The fangirl that I know literally listens to the game dialogue while she sleeps in an attempt to have dreams about the characters.

It will be fans like her that drive the sales, and a number of fans will buy it because they want to at least see some sort of conclusion to something. But it will mainly be the fangirls that play primarily for the romance plots.

They're going to be disappointed.

I've been flip-flopping on this game. When it was dreadwolf, it was a buy (pirate) then when it became failguard it was a no, then I saw the low specs and thought it might be worth it, but that latest trailer looks like the most boring slop. I can't see the plot being anything other than "diverse people help fight big bad evil darkspawn who ackshually were the original inhabitants of tevinter and need to be killed by friendly immigrants"

In just over a decade, we went from trailers featuring fantasy American Jesus and crappy mid 2000s alternative rock to antisocial women evoking lucid dreams in which they get railed by 300 pound horned men by listening to game dialogue audio. Bros, how did we get here and how to we go back?

TBH I don't expect it to be a complete failure. If you have seen the state of nu-dragonage fans, either on the subreddit, discord or the comments for the trailers, you will see that a lot of them are women, faggots and other assorted leftists who hate games and actually enjoy the glorified visual novel style of modern AAA games, and of course, all the retarded romance shit and quirky marvel characters. They don't want tactical/strategic combat or having to plan character builds, just fast button spam and flashy animations with difficulty being learning patterns by trial and error.
I mean, there is the possibility that much of the engagement is manufactured bots. Many of the top comments on that video are all "ERM SWOOPING IS BAD?", "I HOPE WE CAN PET THE GRIFFON :DD", but that could just as easily be redditors and fangirls.
And unlike Concord, this is an established IP that's fairly popular and is a singleplayer "game". The so-called modern audience doesn't play toxic online PVP games, but it does exist for singleplayer narrative slop like TLOU, modern GoW, etc.
All of the old fans will have jumped ship by now for sure, but after Inquisition and all the other crap it has attracted a new replacement audience. Whether they will actually buy the game though, we will see.

The problem is that pointy ears make faces with black features look like silly forest kobolds. If you add curly hair to it they just end up looking like dorks.

My problem is that making your fantasy World as diverse as NYC with a perfect Balance of all races/genders/whatevers makes every place feel the same and removes the thrill of the exotic. This approach might call itself multicultural, but it removes more culture than it provides and we end up with slob like modern DA.

Unfortunately true. The companions got the most spotlight in the pre-release hype, with the male (body type 1?) ones getting the most gushing because no matter how progressive the fangirls claim to be, at the end of the day they are still chasing that high they got when their UwU human noble warden marries Alistair and they become the king and queen of Ferelden.

Never mind that doing so is essentially a selfish one because you have two inexperienced and likely sterile people now ruling a country that is freshly fucked by civil war and the Blight, leaving the country ripe for another civil war when these two answer the Calling or whatever without leaving any heirs; possible succession mess should Kieran decides to contest the throne, LOL., and the likelihood of Eamon calling the shots by manipulating these two to do his bidding.

What's interesting is there's no Cullen or Alistair type in the party this game. There's no standard light-haired pretty boy for you to save with your love. People keep bitching about being inclusive and having a diverse cast and pronouns and whatever, but at the end of the day, they'll never garner a fangirl following like a white cis man that needs a mommy.

No blond funny guy with hidden hurt, but they seem to have some dark-haired cards to play with the lonely cat ladies.

They are pushing quite hard that assassin to be the standard dark-haired broody bad boy with a hidden vulnerability that they will reveal only to their beloved Snookum McRookum - the Morrigan/Viconia archetype but with penis. And that necromancer is touted as romantic and sweet and fluffy older man archetype to allow players to live out their daddy issues.

I just don't wanna pay good money and have to see niggers honestly.
