Agreed but none of that means fuck all in terms of games possibly, actually getting better. Least of all this one. Lower specs don't equate to better games.
Not necessarily, but AAA gaming these days appears to have hit some sort of break point where if you're using cutting edge tech the product will be underwhelming, since the technology has outstripped the human capacity to build for it at a sane price point. Lower specs don't necessarily mean a better game, but they do often mean a better focused one that doesn't need a $200m development budget. Would Grim Dawn be better with Diablo 4 graphics? Sure. But if funding that kind of upgrade means that Crate needs to turn into a bunch of money-grubbing loot-box-pushing trannies like Blizzard, we're probably better off with the 2016 graphics.

There was an exception in Morrowind when the Dunmer would call uo their ancestor skeletons.

Necromancy usually either involves messing around with a corpse, or enslaving a corpse.

Skeleton bros need Undead Lincoln!
If I remember right, this was how the semi-tolerated Nevarran necromancers were supposed to operate in the lore. They were communing with respected ancestors from among the elite of society, not using the corpses of the dead as slaves. Of course, this seems to have been thrown out the window for Veilguard since your companion with the skeleton butler is part of said Nevarran necromancers.

Maybe the butler and body consented to the act, bigot.

I recently played Dragon Age Origins again after so long because I had time. The combat feels really dated today, and all that sustained auras are more of an eyebleed than I remember, but the rest holds up. There is a genuine sense of plot progression, and there is a great sense of satisfaction to be had when my character and his companions level up and become stronger. The pointless side quests are for the most part feel well integrated into the main arc. I never feel like I'm taking way too much out of an urgent main quest to kill 10 cows for some lazy-ass villager. Still, fuck the Fade, I installed the skip the fade mod and it was great.

Dragon Age 2 on Steam won't let me access all my DLCs so I skipped the game after spending days looking for a solution and meeting a dead end with Steam support and the EA retards that waste my time only to give me a solution for a wrong game. Oh well.

Dragon Age Inquisition... it's even more tedious that I remembered. I bailed after running around like an idiot looking for slow-spawning livestock to kill and get 10 hides in the Hinterlands, since I remembered the last time around I had to do so many more of these tedious things. Seriously, I am at an empty map most of the time waiting for things to spawn again so that I can kill them for useless crap demanded by lazy-ass NPCs. The map tracker is confusing and bare, movement is clunky because while the graphics are nice, my characters are moving like spastic people that just learned how to walk a few hours ago, and my companions are mute outside of cutscenes throughout my whole gameplay. I was so, so bored out of my mind. It's the best game visually, but it's also the most empty one - a one-player MMORPG basically. It's like that time I installed a cracked offline version of Ragnarok Online thinking yay, now I can level up in peace without competing of spawns with other players, only to feel like a complete fool running around in an empty world and thinking: WHAT THE FUCK AM I DOING WITH MY LIFE?!!! Most wasted potential out of all 3 games. At least Dragon Age 2 has the excuse of forced executive meddling, this one doesn't.

You can see the repurposed corpse of a live service game. Can they at least tone down the sparkles in the UI?
The character menu looks exactly like the one from the AssCreed games since AC Origins and the skill tree is from AC Valhalla, lmao
I still can't get past the atrocious Fortnite/mobile game aesthetic.

It's... I don't know. I don't hate it, but it resembles all the other AAA releases that are full of purple blobs, unnecessarily exaggerated explosions and effects, and even the characters look like they are rips from those games. There is a very made by committee feel to what is shown in the trailer.

They unlisted the video. Hah.

>3 slot runes and an ultimate attack
So they're ripping off LoL at this point. Remember how in Origins you had an entire bar at the bottom of the screen for skills? Yeah, that's gone.

>Skill Tree from Path of Exile.
Can't wait to do 2% more damage.

>ONLY TWO COMPANIONS.
We're going back to the days of DA2 here. Inqusition had at least 3 companions + the PC.

Wait a minute that danger symbol.

And I don't care for the rest of the combat. You know what this reminds me of? DA2.

Combat is more flashy, people hit each other more but in the end it's just a functional combat system that has no appeal to me. It does not look fun. And the youtube comments saying "Veilguard actually looks good now" are in for regret when they purchase this thing full price on launch day.
All this says to me is "We have no idea what we wanted our combat to be so we borrowed elements from other games and mashed them together." Wasn't Anthem designed like this? They didn't know what they were doing only at the reveal of it was it given a clear vision of what the game was going to be.

All three DA games to date allowed for 3 companions, with full player control available for all of them -- in the first DA, this even included summons by Mages and Rangers.

Two companions you have little control over is Mass Effect.

I remember reading Gaider's posts on the Bioware Forums years prior to Origins release, about how the visual style was supposed to be more grounded than DnD. Spell effects wouldn't be a constant barrage of flashing lights, and if you did saw something flashy it was going to have a strong impact. They kind of succeeded in DAO, but with each new release started chipping at that idea. The entire series lacks a cohesive identity outside of the first game. Instead they chose to chase dumb trends. If this slop wasn't called Dragon Age, you would not think this has anything to do with Origins. Its a fucking mobile game, that makes Genshin look more restrained with its effects.

Bioware can't die soon enough.

Oh boy I love playing rock-paper-scissors, and being told exactly which type to use against which enemy!

Atrocious UI. The icons are a mess and it's not intuitive at all. Just give us a fucking hotbar. Is that too much to ask?

Their replacement for strategy is to pause the game and select the premade combo with the biggest number.
Looks like a lot of mindless button mashing, and the companions are barely even seen in the video cause they just fuck off by themselves. Super cool.

Fuck this shit.

This game is made for the modern audience with pure autism and no attention span. It's just 'select rock, paper scissors' then press A repeatedly to win. No strategy, no thought required, just visual autism and ultimate feels.

I hate the "use this skill and only this skill to remove bar, before using other skill". That idea fucking killed ME2 combat.

Where's the RPG part? It just looks like Kingdoms of Alamur: reckonings with ADHD.

Fuck me do I miss when I played games where I could actually lose by not being good enough.

Kill Bioware already.

Reddit spacing.

I do not give a shit anymore but Bioware still managed to hurt my soul with a nigger elves

.

Anyone can do whatever they want with their own IP but there is one thing I just can not stand and it is nigger elves(except may be in Shadowrun).

Also, what the fuck have they done to the darkspawns ? I do not dislike their design that much but they just look like demons now. Some of the hurlocks got beefy lol, they are starting to look like Locust drones.

Well, if you wish something of this calibre then you could try Knight of the Chalice or the Pathfinder games by Owlcat on Difficult or higher. The Pathfinder games are quiet a bit pozzed by the simple virtue of being Pathfinder games but they do give a challenge, just do not forget to play them on PC to have acces to the Buff Bot mods.

As for KoTCs games, well, they are notoriously unforgiving and I sure was wrecked 7 or 8 times by the KoTC2 tutorial's boss on normal before managing to kill it.

At least they restrained themselves from the overused Killmonger hairstyle... based on what we have seen so far.

One annoying trend of these blue-haired trannies taking over games is that every species is just present-day Earth humans with pointy ears, horns, or whatever. It's like a furry convention gone wrong.

I love Pathfinder 1. Running as 6 flavours of beast master, or creating an Orc horde was fucking great. I would like to replay it but the load times kill it for me.

I've never heard of KotC but i'll try it.
