Makes sense. Bioware's perfect "modern audience" is a bunch of reddit narcissists (whoops, that was redundant) who want to "see themselves" in the game, meaning they're going to play as pink-haired trannies. But you don't want to be invalidating to their gay little ERP session, so in modern Dragon Age world, being a gross autist won't stop you from having an immediately-accepting and supportive found family that would never do evil, invalidating things like criticize you for bad behavior.
You don't have any flaws, you stunning and brave person, you! And making evil choices? Ha, obviously you'd never do that, you're a good person who tweets about punching Nazis, and if anyone, in real life or in the game, were to suggest you were less than morally righteous, why, that person is clearly talking shit. In fact, they're probably an evil capitalist, you'd better fight them by giving us your money!
I'm sure if you could tolerate the smell coming off of Weekes or that troon game director, and asked them about problems in the previous games they're aiming to overcome in this entry, you wouldn't hear anything about how the pacing in Origins was inconsistent, or how Awakening was a buggy mess, or how DA2 only had five dungeon maps they reused over and over and over. No, they'd probably cite Sten being problematic, or not having any black party members until the third game, or how it was possible for the player to bench Isabela despite how she's a sex-positive female-bodied PEE-OH-SEE.
